Hogan didn't need the torch passed he had it well and truly in his possesion by 1987, Andre got 1 last payday but all he had was the Slam, he gave that up for the Main Event spot, Andre was never 'the man' anyway

It still shocks me how someone with so little talent and ability managed to get over with the fans so much. Shocks me further to see it happening all over again nearly 30 years later with you-know-who.

If Vince McMahon wanted to he could have marketed Zach Gowan like he did Hogan/Cena

I disagree Gaffer. Like them or not, Cena and Hogan have huge amounts of charisma, something Zach Gowan does not have. Regardless of peoples opinion of them, they are very appealing to kids for their power, physiques and positive attitudes. These guys are like supermen, you can't market Gowan in that way.

I think it's easier to argue that for Cena than for Hogan. As far as I know (which isn't very much) Hogan did play his own part in building himself up, with things like Rocky, and it was more of a partnership with Vince, rather than just McMahon pushing Hogan as it was with Cena.

And Cena is also a workalohic if reports are to be believed, and the super push of the WWE machine has really worked because Cena does all the promotions, gets on all the shows and does all the events.

Thats true, Hogan was a big star in the AWA before he got to the WWF but Verne Gagne didn't pull the Trigger on him, Vince did then put the machine behind him
