Pospisil wins in five sets. Ward just fell away and couldn't find that extra gear when he needed it. A good week for him though.

Can't argue with that. Popsicle the better player in the 5th.

I don't know about phenomenal but I would say it is a step up in level from his first two matches here.

Well I'm sure we can all agree that his challenges are phenomenally bad.

Murray now about to serve for the second set leading 6-2 5-2.

There goes the 2nd set. Don't think Seppi is playing well enough for us to be able to properly assess Andy's level.

Maybe not but at least Andy is being more pro-active today rather than the more reactive one on show in the first two rounds.

Re: Wimbledon Day 6 - Young Winston (Kerber Enthusiasm)
I think Andy will always look more pro-active playing Seppi than the likes of Kuznetsov. Very different game styles indeed. I thought he looked good against Haase, although Haase was pretty abject for the most part.

Oh dear, Andy's game has really gone walkabout here. Medical timeout may have disrupted his rhythm, but that's no excuse.

Shocking! Needs to get curmudgeonly here and claw this set back.

Showing that he isn't really the favourite. Seppi playing poor still will take a convincing enough set off him.

Looks like he may have hurt his shoulder. It rattled him.

On that grounds then neither is Federer. Lost a set today against a player ranked far lower than Roger but never heard you saying the same then. Oh and how did Seppi get on in Aussie Open against Roger again?

Only explanation here is that Becker's fat beetroot face is catching the sun and putting Andy off.

Was it a convincing thrashing of a set, like Murray has just taken? TB sets against big servers aren't as bad as that 3rd set.CaledonianCraig wrote:Josiah Maiestas wrote:Showing that he isn't really the favourite. Seppi playing poor still will take a convincing enough set off him.

On the bright side, Seppi hasn't done anything to change the pattern of play. It's purely down to Andy's dip in form. As long as he can restore his level, he should be fine.

He went a break down, then at 1-4 he played a horrible game, all power on his serve and fh just went and he rubbed his shoulder in real pain. He just had an mto for itbogbrush wrote:I've been out.temporary21 wrote:1-4 last set, didnt anyone of you see it? He looked like he hurt his shoulder badly

Phew, thank Seppi for that. The key now is how that serve is gonna hold up

So there wasn't an accident?
I'd discount it. He always rubs things when he falls behind.
Nothing wrong with that serve.

No accident but lets hope it is just overreacting, dont wanna lose a big player like that. The MTO was a bit concerning

That's true, although he's not known for spurious use of the trainer.bogbrush wrote:So there wasn't an accident?

Re: Wimbledon Day 6 - Young Winston (Kerber Enthusiasm)
Given the the extreme drop away, I expect there was some physical issue, even if Andy was overreacting to it. He is a bit of a drama queen after all. Whatever the cause, it has, at least, turned a rather run of the mill match into something of a spectacle.

A good one for lovers of symmetry. Seppi calls the trainer and wins six in a row, then Murray follows suit.

The MTO has been the secret coach behind the greats for centuries, always behind the scenes!
In all seriousness, the last set would suggest its just a pang, which can be given painkillers at worst. Murray and Federer staying in their half of the draw is important to keeping this half up, a sf between those two is by far the most promising match. I hope they both make it healthy and well rested

The second serve the key to his next match, appropriately an appointment with the doctor, too many second serves and Ivo is right in

Second to a Djokoic-Federer Finaltemporary21 wrote:The MTO has been the secret coach behind the greats for centuries, always behind the scenes!

At least, things remain interesting in this half of the draw. I'd hope for a Wawrinka-Djokoivc in the top half, even though Wawrinka is much less of a threat on grass, he would have the mental advantage over Novak... (But I'm afraid Goffin is in too good a form)

Re: Wimbledon Day 6 - Young Winston (Kerber Enthusiasm)
The most promising in this half for sure. Yeah the dream for me is Stan and Novak, which I think would be the best of the 2 semis. and Muzz and Fed. A Novak/either one final would be great, either one would be huge

Re: Wimbledon Day 6 - Young Winston (Kerber Enthusiasm)
Just realized Andy's last 16 would be arguably much harder to handle than his QF: Karlovic, then Troicki in all likeliness.
Wawrinka has the worst draw from now on: Goffin, then Gasquet or Kyrgios, all in form, then of course Djoko.
Then Fed should cruise through Bautista Agut, and his QF could be tricky although it should be on his hands: Berdych or Simon/Monfils
Third in line is Andy with ever tricky Dr Ivo. But isn't Andy well able to block his serves as Federer would do? Then Troicki, most likely, would be a good training for the SF
For Djoko, Anderson can be tough on serve, but has he got any weapon for Novak? Cilic is a question mark really - at least he knows he can win big games, but he's still high from USO win.

Re: Wimbledon Day 6 - Young Winston (Kerber Enthusiasm)
I think Novaks asafe for the semi, Anderson doesnt have enough once the serve goes out, and Cilic, though he has the game, has had 2 very long 5 set matches thus far, would suggest his games not there, and that hell be too out of gas.
Feds QF is probably the hardest now. Berdych is either really nasty or as useless as a headless chicken, as shown by his match today, nearly went 5 until he bucked his ideas up. Id be ever so slightly worried, given he conspired to drop a set to Groth.
If his shoulders fine Murray should be ok. Worried about his second serve for the doctor though
Stan is playing more than well enough to dispatch any of those 3, Kygios is game, but Stans the RG champ

Kyrgios is going to do something big at some point, it may as well be now.
He has the power to knock anyone off court, it's whether he has his A game there.

Re: Wimbledon Day 6 - Young Winston (Kerber Enthusiasm)
That game tonight though just shows why Andy has won two slams and not more. He suffers dips too much - tonight he played through it and recovered to win but against the best players you cannot do that. Still he is through in four and Karlovic is up next for him. I'd expect Andy to win that match.

Id let this one slide, an MTO and visible pain of some kind suggested it wasnt just loss of concentration. His base level is good enough at least.

Just noting Djoko and Anderson are the only ones having to face their top seed at every match so far (it will stop for QF of course with Nishi out)
