Rory has damaged his ankle and is a doubt for The Open, although he hasn't ruled himself out yet. Did it in a soccer kickabout - when will these golfers ever learn?

Yes it's a shame, but the British Open is bigger than any one player, even the world #1. I'm sure it'll still be a cracking tournament.

I don't bet but a couple of people in my office are now aware of the Boyd train and have joined in. Still 500s btw.

#1 present or not, it's on TOC, and it's never an interesting tournament. Look for a week of dreariness and drabness.

Just read on the ET website that Olesen also suffered a non-golf 'sporting' injury a few years back: he fell off a camel -- and injured his groin!!

Makes the non-golf injuries of Rory, Els, Kaymer, Jimenez etc. look respectable...
