One Time Keith
Watched his fight with Collazo last night and to say Khan did a better job would be a major understatement.
Whilst he landed some decent punches, they seemed to have no effect, and then in round 5, he nearly got decked and was running and holding on for 30 seconds before the bell saved him thanks to a brilliant body shot.
Fight then stopped on a cut.
My question is this.....is One time good enough to hang with the elite? Is he over rated?
As far as I'm concerned, if you struggle with Collazo in this day and age, you shouldn't be challenging the elite.....just yet.

Re: One Time Keith
Just watched it and was very surprised at that. He was badly hurt and basically ran in the 5th, couldn't believe it. Collazzo was in the fight the whole way and it still could have gone either way.
It's a shame that Collazzo had to pull out (had to or not) as we might have learned a lot about one time. Struggling that badly with Collazzo doesn't bode well though.
I'd make Brook a favourite against him now and would fancy Porter to beat him up.

Khan mentioned Thurman as potential opponent. The fight would make sense end of the year if Khan doesn't get Floyd.

Re: One Time Keith
Think he would really struggle against Brook and Maidana. Porter would rough him up and win a scrappy UD. Khan would outbox him but his chin could be exposed in this one

Re: One Time Keith
Don't know what to make of Thurman, feel he's becoming more of a boxer and his style lends to be more of a brawler. He obviously has heavy hands when he's planted, but he moves around a bit too much for him to really get his best shots off. Even with that, he obviously isnt the monstrous puncher he was made out to be
Still don't think he should be labelled hype job. He would probably knock out khan and would still probably favour him to beat maidana as both can hurt each other and thurman is the naturally bigger man and maidana has been in loads of wars.
One thing I was impressed with thurman is how he survived the boidy shot, true it shouldn't be landing but body shots can beat anyone and he managed to get out of the round so kudos to him
Think that if there is an america hope at WW, Spence will be it and not thurman

Re: One Time Keith
Khan punches well to the body and that seems a weakness for Thurman.
A lot of interesting match ups that can be made.
Maidana is a dangerous opponent for everyone, looking forward to his next fight. Apparently he's enjoying the money that he made from the Floyd fights so it may not be soon. Probably the most dangerous opponent for Thurman and Brook not named Floyd or Manny.

I'm not sure Marcos Maidana is gonna be the same fighter when he eventually comes back from his fight vs Ronald Mcdonald.

Yea Maidana looks like he weighs about 180lbs, if not more
Have to question Maidanas motivation at this point in his career. Got his career defining victory against Broner and the two massive Mayweather paydays.

Surprised to see this fight was live on BT Sport, hope it's the start of regular boxing coverage.
Poor performance form Thurman, didn't seem to know what to do under pressure. Have to rate him well behind Khan at the moment.

Definitely a serious mix below Floyd & Manny, Thurman isn't breaking away from the pack at all.

I haven't actually seen the fight, but from what I read, Thurman got lucky with the stoppage.
The cut was caused by a head clash, so why didn't it go to the scorecards???

Re: One Time Keith
It was a bit of home town cooking IMO. The Doc asked Collazo if he wanted him to stop the fight, Collazo said yes he couldn't see, so the doctor stopped the fight. Should have gone to the scorecards.

Re: One Time Keith
Khan trounced him and Ortiz flattened him.
Doesn't speak well of Thurman. Perhaps supports the feeling that his rep & record have been based on oppos not out of the top drawer.
Reckon Khan should target him. And Bradley. Two winnable fights that are pretty big too.

Re: One Time Keith
Thought collazo flattened Ortiz Toppy? Or an I mistaken?
Either or, completely agree, Khan should take him on. Yes there is a risk with the power and chin, but he can outbox Thurman and target that body and make him pay.
It would be a good name though.
Maybe too high risk low reward for Khan at the moment though.
Brook vs Thurman would be a great fight. Brilliant match up of styles

No chance of the Bradley Thurman fight happening because of Haymon and Arum but I think Kahn would be Thurman assuming he can keep his chin out the way

Whoops! Yes, you're right.
Unsurprising though, classic hype-job that Ortiz. Seen as the next Goldenboy golden-egg and failed miserably. Sure he made a packet still though so fair play.

Re: One Time Keith
Sorry Thurman wasn't particularly convincing but apart from the 5th where he was hurt he won all the other rounds fairly convincingly and wasn't home town in any case, Collazo quit
It should go to the scorecards if the doctor pulls you out, not because the fighter pulls out. Collazo had a cut yes, but it wasn't the worst cut you'd ever see and could have continued as the doctor pointed out, wouldn't even let his corner work on it properly to try lessen the blood.

Did Collazo quit though???? If he can't see because of an injury caused by a clash of heads, then it has to go to the scorecards
