There's still the best part of a month to go in the window...often impactful signings are made as we head towards the end of August. Long way to go yet fellas in distress

Hopefully, that is the case. I think United will be the story come the end of August, if LVG doesn't spend, he can kiss goodbye to achieving anything in his three year stint. As for West Bromwich Albion, we are reportedly closing in on Dennis Praet for around £10m. I can't see this happening, seeing as Anderlecht have already sold two players recently.

Championship Transfers - Paul Konchesky joins QPR on loan & Sheyi Ojo joins Wolves on loan from Liverpool

Dennis Praet and Juan Quintero being linked to lower clubs in the Premier League shows the strength and lure of the Premier League right now.

Not really. Shows agents realise premier league clubs can be easily used to tempt other foreign teams into action. Seen it with loads of guys already this summer

Payet and Ogbonna should never be at clubs like West Ham though. The strength of the pound over the Euro is helping a lot

More because these clubs can still pay absurd amounts of money, for often completely average players. It's the weakest it's been in a while, the EPL was 5th in the coefficient last season.

The coefficient means nothing, the teams below the top are the best in Europe by some margin which makes the top teams disadvantaged in Europe. While Bayern, Real and Barca can rest players as they wish, Chelsea, City and Arsenal have no such option. The Europa league has many teams in it from Spain and Italy via the Champions League, rarely do English teams enter it that way, United a few years ago and Liverpool last year being exceptions.

The PL has the sweet spot of being well paid, and getting exposure in a big league. There's nowhere better to be for a player that cant make a big club at the moment

Not sure it's that good news, he's a significant downgrade on De Gea, unaccustomed to the physical demands of this league too. If it were me, I wouldn't want to sign a keeper, that I couldn't trust saving a penalty, which is the basic for any keeper & his record is appalling.

Not really, it's effectively shot stopping & a test of your basic footwork & agility to get down low or high to shots. I'd expect my keeper to not have to be replaced, it's essentially admitting you have weakenesses in your game, do you see the other top keepers being replaced, no you don't. So it's not nonsense at all, but we know you have some kind of fascination with my posts.

It's a slightly nonsense point.

Bakary Sako signs for Palace. Top 10 spot for Pards this year. Hopefully this can scare West Brom into deciding they want Jarvis

He trusted him to play 120 minutes in goal, then replaced him for penalties, a niche part of goalkeeping, with what he deemed a specialist.

Its a nonsense comment

the issue with penalties doesn't really bother me, the fact that he'd cost £20 million and isn't actiually that good does bother me. I don't think he's quality enough to be number one at a team who want to get back to the top of a physically demanding league and try to re-establish themselves as a European superpower again

Surprised the Leverkusen keeper hasn't been mentioned, I'd have him in a heartbeat over Cilleson, Lloris, this Sergio Romero chap we picked up on a free. Think even at his young age he looks like a cracking keeper

Believe Ed Woodward was in Spain yesterday, so hopefully we're getting to a conclusion to this De Gea drama and Pedro too, may as well throw money at Valencia for Otamendi while he's over there. Get somebody with a bit of presence about them in our back four

Palace towards the end were found out. All teams did was sit back, nullify the space & Palace ran out of ideas, Hull & WBA beat them playing like that. Sako is average, Bamford is championship standard, Wickham too. Doubt they will find the results they did last year, now everyone knows how to counter their threats.

Cillessen really isn't that great, you can deny the clear weaknesses in his game, if you want. Also, we don't  want Jarvis, we're after bigger fish.

Can't say I'm surprised with the change of heart from you though.

Cabaye is a big player in changing that predictability.

Who are your bigger fish? You've signed Ricky Lambert and James Chester. It seems to me that Pulis' domestic eye is in control right now.

Absolute nonsense; Dave Beasant was a penalty expert but I wouldn't say he was near the level of Schmeichel who Fa Cup Semi 99 aside had a terrible record.

That would be what

Ins (£105mil)

Darmian
Schweinsteiger
Schneiderlin
Depay
Pedro
Romero

Out (£60mil)

Di Maria
Rafael
Nani
Van Persie

As well as Anderson, Cleverley, Fletcher, Zaha, Amos and Henriquez leaving in January which should free up a lot of wages; just Evans and Hernandez left to go. Still need a world class centre back and cover up front but there isn't a single defender out there aside from Chillieni who I think is worth paying over the odds for.

Otamendi yes but Stones no, has the potential to be better than them, however I don't think we should be going down the young English centre back route again, we need someone with a bit more experience and proven class.

I like Smalling, I'm quite happy to play him first choice. Since he got sent off in the derby I think he has really excelled and silenced a lot of critics while his defensive partner Jones has crumbled like an old Twix. I'd have no problems if an Otamendi come in and put Smalling alongside him

Would sooner keep Hernandez at the minute HH, I'm worried about our options up top and unless we bring in another striker, I don't think we could afford to let another leave just yet

Was thinking exactly the same thing with regards to Smalling, after his brainfart he showed he had the mentality to be a regular starter for us, it's overplayed how bad our defence was/is anyway, the bigger problem was not scoring enough.

I think Stones is probably already ahead of the pair of them on consistency, whilst hes better on the ball than Smalling too. I'd say the best pair they could get would be buying Otamendi and playing him alongside Rojo, he was the one I actually thought looked alright in the centre.

Once the Moyes factor started to wear off the Everton defence hasn't looked anywhere near as good as it was, that includes both Stones and Coleman having fairly average seasons. I certainly didn't see a centre back who was consistently performing better than Smalling, quite the opposite really.

find it very difficult to suggest stones has the consistency over smalling when you consider he's only made 44 appearances for everton and the majority of his first season was in and out of the team. he's basically had half a good season last season (23 games). funnily enough the same as smalling who was solid all second half of last season.

add to that everton were pretty poor in defence last season

but dont let me spoil the young english hype train. i remember all the same being said of jones before he had done anything
