Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
Everton always looked distinctly poorer for not having Stones in their team. And I'm even more confident that their lack of penetration in attack added pressure to their defence, as well as Barry creaking along.
Smalling had half an ok season at Man United. Thats it. Stones both will be better in the future and would probably grow better than Smalling over the season. I wouldnt want any of those Manc defenders in a starting lineup at our place, and that really says something of a side who will play in the Champions League.

you have to remember we had valencia playing right back, he was playing with jones as a partner for large periods at cb and didnt have a settled left back either. considering all that i think he had a better second half of the season than just ok. smalling was the one part of our defence that wasnt a problem

I just cant think of an area he excels at. Opposition are happy for him to have the ball, hes slow, he doesnt read the game that well, doesnt command. Hes a backup to a decent side. A world class centre back beside him could be the making of him, but in that time Stones would learn more and become a better player.

Anybody heard anything about this comment made in the spurs game today in relation to Harry Kane?
Also i think this stones thing is a no go anyway, us or chelsea, theres no contest who he'd want to play for

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
The comment was made during Spurs’ pre-season fixture with the Serie A giants, with one commentator suggesting that the bid may have something to do with Kane being missing from the squad.
The commentator said: ‘Harry Kane was planning to be in the squad.
‘He’s not here this afternoon – he was yesterday.
‘There are talks at the moment that there has been a huge offer from Manchester United’

theres no guarantee of that though is there, all what you have said has been said about jones when he broke through. stones has had one brief spell of playing well and people are already talking about him like he's the new franz beckenbauer
also dont think smalling is slow

Think you United guys are being harsh on stones and dolph is being harsh on smalling.
Stones is clearly a very good talent, and any of the top teams would be wise to snap him up.
Smalling flourished in the second half of last season, really began to progress as a player and leader.

He hasnt just broken through though. A lot of people knew he was very good at Barnsley, for one, and hes been around long enough at Everton now, plus rushed into England squads, to show hes not flash in the pan. Hell, Jones would be a lot better if he hadnt been Micah Richards'd and mixed up position constantly.

I don't think we're being harsh on him Olly but he is nowhere near the finished article, he looks to have a lot of potential but so did Jones once upon a time so I think we're a bit more cautious with young English Centre backs.

Yeah id actually take stones in a heartbeat but think we should probably opt for experience at this minute, and like i say above, i think he'd go chelsea before us anyways

In other Spurs news they fly back tomorrow afternoon before flying again to Manchester on Friday ahead of an early Saturday kick off.
Well thought out logistics that

Yet Madrid have been allowed to fly early despite season for starting for another few weeks Why would you have a friendly with 3 days to go?

I had high hopes for Tottenham under Redknapp but they now seem to be p1ss1ng away their chance at being a good team, buying bucketloads of average players didn't help but simple things like this are beyond the realm of comprehension.

100% a Twitter crap rumor - to be honest I haven't seen him play so don't know if he's good bar like he plays for Porto

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
Leroy Fer is basically done now in terms of career progression. Only desperate lower tier teams will risk taking him on, after another failed medical. Wouldn't surprise me to see Norwich take him back.
Been watching that Chelsea game, can see them stinking the place out from the get-go this season. Been lacking goals this pre season already & I think remaining pretty stagnant this summer will cost them.

Horrendous pre-season.
Still, they have a gentle introduction to the Premier League on Saturday.

There's nothing gentle about taking on Swansea, they're a top outfit nowadays.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
Bunch of overrated chancers, more like.
They'll go to Stamford Bridge, shut up shop, Chelsea will pick 'em off. 2-0 win. Swansea may deviate from that, it would be sensible to, but they probably won't.
Gentle.

Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
So we're the latest team to be in for Doumbia, according to Di Marzio
Re: Summer Transfer Window Thread 15/16
Told you it would be big, heard we were interested few days ago. None of this Craig Noone garbage, spread by Mr One Liner. Hopefully we can get him over the line, top quality striker, suited for the PL too. C'mon Pulis!

A "top quality striker" who has looked good in a very poor league, hasn't really set the world on fire at international level.

Mr one liner, I rarely use Twitter. I didn't post the doumbia rumour because I didn't believe it, didn't want to jinx anything, but you know everything sitting behind your computer, so we'll go with what you think. Doumbia is a quality striker, let me guess, Dolphin agrees with me & the suddenly you will all change your tune. Ripped city apart in the champions league & has a good scoring record.

Very pleased with this capture. Not sure why you are saying, 'poor chap', we will nkw give him the first team football he craves & needs to develop, so mind boggling as to why you think it's a bad move for him. Also, he's joining a good side, we beat Chelsea in the league last season, did Arsenal?

Well that's a failed attempt at trolling so congratulations Also it's a bad move cos i believe this was you or Azzy that said WBA don't really play wingers & I don't want someone as talented as Gnabry sat on the bench at a sh*tty club like WBA.

By the way I'm leaving 606, so you can all celebrate. It will no doubt be a very boring forum though without my expert opinions & everyone just agreeing with one another, or people not wanting to upset the established on here. Wish everyone luck for the new season, apart from Mr. One Liner. Goodbye.

Gotta say, I don't appreciate this mob mentality whenever Liam writes anything. On occasions he's deserved it but other times he's been jumped on for posts that if made by another user would just be ignored.

He pushed the limits before and got banned. After that conversation with me he came back and actually added to the forum with reasonable opinions and posts. Lately hes gone a bit mental. The report he sent through about someone the other day was full of arrogance, and his posts have been rude, aggressive and childish. Granted, he gets called out for stuff a lot more than others, but he set himself up for that not only with his past behaviour but also his self-confidence in his posting.

Blackburn sign The Fonz.
Good luck to him.
Looks like the Adebayor deal has fallen through, as he does not want to move to the midlands.
We may have enough forwards, especially if we land Berbatov.
Links with Lennon now.

See that Sherwood has offerd the baggies an extra £2m for Lescott.
Would be quite happy with Lennon and Lescott.
Looks like Freedman wants to sign Gardner when he regains fitness.
Hope that doesn't happen, but don't think he is in Sherwood's plans.
