Haha I dont worry, if hes any good he'll be gone in a season and if hes not he'll throw a strop when you're 16th and Steve has lost the plot.

Tottenham sign Clinton N'Jie, I must be missing something with that signing.

Ramos 2020 is supposedly happening thus afternoon. His agent played Woodward like a flute.

We're after James Collins from west ham - wouldn't be too against it, would bring some much needed experience to our back line.

Ginge would be a great signing for you. Still possibly put in the best individual defensive performance I've seen when he man marked Suarez two years ago. Sensational defending. Backs to the wall defending there are few better.

Like he wouldn't of got it at United Laugh With Valencia still paying Citeh off for Negredo. The 2 main Utd CB targets are gone. Be interested to see who LVG goes for now.

Well, yes. But I called thst a while ago. Poor planning by Perez meant that selling Ramos was career suicide. Basically had the club by the short and curlies the moment we bid Casillas adieu.

I'm happy enough, though. Guy's got a cult following back in Madrid, and in relation to everyone else, he probably deserved a raise.

I'm surprised to see the negativity amongst Norwich fans - he's in the exact mould and position of what we need.

Would like to see him in, even if on loan.

Think he played Real Madrid more than he did us, Ramos now has the nice shiny new contract he wanted all along and Perez has given it to him.

Nando; my understanding is that Otamendi wasn't wanted by LVG at any stage with our sole defensive target being Ramos.

That's the point though. There was no real chance Perez would let him go. He couldn't. I said as much. At worst, we'd have kept him for this season and tried to negotiate a new contract. Sell him for decent chip next year if he didn't re-sign. Woodward wasted a lot of time being a (rather valuable) pawn. I'm happy we have Ramos. I wouldn't have been too sad had he left, but much rather have him than not. Last three seasons, he basically tops every single defensive stat in the team. He's the captain. More importantly, he's the last guaranteed Spanish starter.

- In other Madrid news, Perez reportedly wants to get rid of Illara to get cover for Kroos. No, you read that right. Perez wants to get rid of Kroos' back up, so he can get back up for Kroos. Can only assume this means Illara wants out, because there's no way we're getting anybody as good who'll be willing to develop frostbite on the bench.

That's a false economy, the new players sell more shirts at the expense of established players, they generally don't generate new income unless they're a world star like Ronaldo.

The strangest signing really, McClaren can't even find space to play Aarons or Perez. Cabella is going the other way on loan, but really we should be signing a defender, we must be copying United, in buying players we don't actually need

Disappointing really, I saw McClaren giving Aarons a go in my mind, and I actually liked the glimpses of Cabella when he showed flashes of his talent. Never hurts to have better players, but I too would agree Toon need a centre back. Even Shackell would have been better than Williamson. You've got the foreign lad (Mbemba?) who may get in when acclimatised though. I honestly think Schteve will keep you up and play better football, although having seen some of the transfers midtable teams have made I am a little underwhelmed by some of Newcastle's moves. The loan market as the window comes to an end could be used really well. I would like a good Newcastle side to stay up, the times I want Toon down are when they show no ambition to do more than keep above the poor sides.

Their already down to 2 CB's why you sell him for 30m? When they have the money to buy a CB anyway

They could buy 3 CB's for that money, and Stones is never worth £30m.

They've been linked with a CB in Germany that Newcastle have also been linked with.

At 30 years old he's not exactly a long term replacement.

De Bruyne is also rumoured to be happening this week. Otamendi i can understand, but a Chelsea failure with one good season in the Bundesliga for near on £50m? Ridiculous.

Guillem Balague also says De Gea will leave for Real Madrid this Summer.

We've come out and said we've bid for 4 strikers all playing overseas so I reckon the Beeb are wrong about West Ham's interest. Yilmaz seems almost certain to have been one of those.

Bristol City have found some money!

Like pedro as a player, good option to have but doesn't really solve our current issues.

Striker and defender needed, or top four will be the best we can do this season.

What's strange about Kovacic is that a deal with Liverpool for less than what Real Madrid paid for him was widely touted, and it was almost universally considered a very risky deal because he hasn't exactly shone at Inter Milan.

Also Luka Modric is only 29 and the style of game he plays means he could easily play in that role until he's 34-36 years old as we have seen with Xabi Alonso and Pirlo.
