First topic message reminder :

My thoughts on the fight are thus.....

terrible start getting floored twice in the 1st round but I thought Carl boxed fantastic to get back into the fight and then go on and win it. Helped by his opponants low blows but overall I don't think it would have mattered as Frampton clearly was the better boxer.

Frampton showed his pedegree and expieriance against a game but green opponant. I have said before on here that Santa Cruz would beat Frampton, now I think he would stop him. I am sure Cruz wants that fight now after last night.

Hats off to Frampton tho he really showed me how good he is the real deal for sure.

Yeah, fair enough. I wasn't making comparisons. Quigg has workrate though.

Or it showed he didnt really box to his best, took a few risks and probably inderestimated his opponent. A massively over rated fighter with no defence is unlikely to comprehensively defeat a fighter like martinez twice. He has had much better performances in the past against better opponents.

Depends how you rate Martinez I guess. He lost to Munroe.

I don't think frampton has no defence. I think he neglected to think about at the start of the fight. He looked like a man who wanted to look like GGG in front of the US fans and chased the guy down trying to spark him... with no head movement. He got what he deserved.

It showed he isn't as good as maybe he and some of us thought, but I don't think he was shown up as a hype job. Having a sticky night might prove a useful lesson for him. Would still back him to beat quigg, personally, though the events of that night, certainly make the fight more appetising.

The line..."You're only as good as your last fight" has never been more true !!

I agree but I am saying the same for someone like Khan.

He took on Algeri, seen as a soft touch by some and went life and death with him. I do agree that Framptons stock has dropped, however Quigg was tagged a lot in the first.

I hope people aren't buying into the "Quigg beat him faster" so he is better scenario.

I thought Martinez was sloppy thirds to go with four other stiffs..

But you know some are easily pleased..

Frampton and Quigg are both pretenders and that is the truth. I pick Rigondeaux to beat both easily, even with his old age.

I agree, probably one of the reasons Pac and May wasn't great. Both are old men now.

The decline in boxing is being emphasized by the guys at the top............

Mayweather 38........Manny 36............Rigo 35 soon......Wlad nearly 40....Four of the best five fighters in the sport..

In decades gone by they'd be long gone by now..

True enough. Maybe Floyd and Manny are just that good.

Take it you probably have Quigg favourite if they fight?

Nope. Big Frampton fan, hence my disappointment, and think he'd take a tough but exciting match up.

I used to have it 80/20 Frampton

I have him 60/40 now. I am now worried because I know Quigg can knock him out. It is possible.
