I'm hoping some Spanish club will offer just close to £1m for him, just so we get a little bit of money.
Lovenkrands doesn't seem to be the quickest anymore, and his finishing leaves a lot to be desired.

Problem is, wherever he goes on loan he doesn't excel. He's just back up.

I can't imagine him doing that unless he had another club lined up, but if he did, why would he go to a club that wasn't even willing to stump up a transfer fee for him?

What do you mean 'him doing that'. 'Released' is just another way of saying 'sacked'.

Because they have had NO interest in him and he's constantly slagging the club off.

I assumed he'd asked for his release and Newcastle had just given in because of the reason that fernando said.

I just presumed, what with all the rumors about clubs being interested, at least one club would be willing to pay a small transfer fee to take him off your hands. If Marlon King can get signed, I would have thought Barton could be.

Marlon King isn't a gobshite. Joey's brought this on himself. Gutted to see him go out like this but at the same time it's his own fault.

Its a shame, Newcastle needed him next season.
Not sure on the whole story, but there were rumours he was offered a third of his current wages and he told them to stick it.

This is an awful bit of news, Barton was a great player for you last season. Would love him to come to Chelsea and give our midfield some steel

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
He shouldn't be signed by anyone, doesn't deserved to be paid what he is. He is a thug, and if the rumors about the contract are true then he is a bigger mug than first expected.

Newcastle are the ones who gave him the £60,000 per week contract in the first place! They should honour that contract. Its not like he is doing a Bullard and sitting on the injury table or in the stands. He is giving 100% week in week out and was probably Newcastle's best player last season.
And I think some Newcastle fans will agree that they will be worst off without him, unless the find a suitable replacement. Not placing him on the transfer list, even just for £2mill is just bizzare

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Whilst I think we may be weaker in the midfield without him, I can see why the club want rid. He's badmouthed the club at talks and on twitter. I think Twitter has been the biggest downfall for him, he seems to think his tweets will get the fans on side, but only those with little to no brain cells will be on his side.
One part of me is sad to see him go because he was one of our best players last season, seemed quite likeable and was a force in the dressing room. But another part of me thinks that he has only had one good season since joining us, is on big wages and slags the club off quite frequently.
Signing up to Twitter stinks of McKay or a PR team to try and help Joey engineer a move away from the club or a better contract. With Nolan and Barton absent from the midfield this season we're a little light on numbers, but there's still a month of the window to go and I'm sure Pardew and Carr will hve something up their sleeves. Reserving judgement on how the board have dealt with all this until the end of the summer when all is done.

Is what he said really that bad. Are you not allowed to be critical about your employer, it is not like thousands of other people dont do this week in, week out.
The fact that Jose, Nolan, Carroll etc.... all back up his stories speaks volumes.

I think the club are right to get shot. There are other more diplomatic ways of dealing with issues rather than spurting them all over twitter for the whole world to read. Also, I think it would be foolish to ignore what Barton is saying, especially as it's being backed up by others. From the sacking of Hughton to the selling of Carroll and Nolan, everything seems a little odd.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Jack there's a difference between talking about it between a few people and publishing it online for millions of people to read, and papers to publish the next morning. Carroll only went because it was a fantastic bid and we could do with money to spend, but Nolan/Barton/Jose all spoke out because the club wasn't prepared to pay them huge amounts of money per week. I think that speaks louder volumtes.
I understand the selling of Carroll, can sort of understand that the club wanted to cash in on Nolan rather than lose him- but Hughton going is still a mystery (Except MA wanted more of a yes man).

How much of Carroll's fee has been reinvested? Plus there'll now be savings on his, Nolan's and now Barton's wages. You could likely add Enrique to that at some point soon.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Around £7-8m has been put in to the club to improve the facilities. Nolan's fee covered Cabaye, and I'm guessing some of the money has gone in to be able to offer Ba and Marveaux decent wages. Rumours are that we've been after Erdinc and Neil Taylor (Close to £10m for both of them). So I'd say 2/3 of the money will have been spent by the end of the window. Then leave £10m in the coffers in case Pardew needs it at a later date. What would be the point on spending £30m straight away and not leave some for January or later?

I was just being curious, that's all. No hidden agendas or anything, although I would have thought Newcastle would have a healthy turnover each year with their stadium capacity. And aren't they still receiving parachute payments following relegation, or do they stop once promoted again? Basically, what I'm saying is shouldn't their be a healthy profit there already to spend on players rather than having to sell Andy Carroll?
Edit: Just seen your wages/turnover ratio was 90% last season so that explains a lot.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
I really don't understand the "serves him right" attitude.......now he gets to sign for a club with ambition with the added bonus of a more than decent signing on fee with probably as good wages, it's not like he's lost his job and has to go on the dole is it? Yeah take that Barton, that'll teach you....LOL!

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Liver, by my estimate, I come to us turning over a profit of around £5m or £6m for our first season back in the Premiership. I think Ashley would take that and try to get a bit more money back from the club before finally selling it on.
ST, by him not commanding a transfer fee you'd expect he'll probably be on wages equal, if not higher, to what he's on at the moment.
EDIT: Just saw he's been fined for his Twitter outburst, and he decides to announce it on Twitter.

I wonder have accurate all this is- or have people just saw that PSG and Malaga have a Poopie load of money and could probably pay his wages.
Arsenal, Everton, Villa, Liverpool and Spurs to be 4/6 Prem clubs they mean, and Championship side would probably mean West Ham.

Are we ignoring the fact he's had a better season than Gerrard, Lampard, Barry, Carrick and possibly Parker. For me his passing is above all except Lampard on that list and he's not been afraid to stick a tackle in or run the line either.

this really doesnt excite me at all this squad. ben arfa is a huge miss and take barton out = relegation struggle. If we los Ba to injury for a period we are in a mess. If we lose say the first 4 out of 6, the french will turn on pardew and he'll lose the dressing room. propa disappointed in whats happened.

Let's not forget there's still 25+ days left in the transfer market; with Barton leaving I'd like to see 1 centre midfielder, 1 winger and a couple of strikers join the club. Could possibly do with another fullback but we can manage without one if Jose stays.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Telegraph ran with the Barnetta story again today. It seems he's been a player we've been tracking for a long time. His agent says we've offered him £40k per week, less than his current wage. "As it stands there is not a hope in hell that he will be going to Newcastle. In fact I am angry at their attempts to do it, and behind my back also," Doesn't sound too promising.
In the space of a few days, the interest in Joey Barton has plummeted to just having Stoke interested. Think he'd do well there, a midfield of Pennant, Etherington, Barton and Delap with other players around it like Shawcross, Huth, Jones and Fuller.
Been reported Erdinc move might be dead. I have some faith in Ba and Best, but we need bodies upfront. Lee Ryder reporting we're looking at Obertan, I'd rather stay clear. Setanta reports the Enrique fee to be close to £10m, surely that could go on a striker. Can't think of many names, possibly Shane Long?

Struggling to think of strikers that might join the club. I think within the week we'll lose Barton and Enrique, I just hope we replace with people better than Bridge.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
I don't think Barton will go. Enrique can leave, it doesn't bother me.
Agree on Bridge, just depends what's out there, Warnock perhaps?
Striker wise, if it was me, i'd get Bellamy.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Always talk of Cheik M'Bengue when Enrique leaves. Warnock's getting quite old as well isn't he?
Bellamy would do the job; but it would be interesting to see how the rest of the fans took to him. Ba and Bellamy upfront would leave us strong.
George Caulkin makes a few good points on Twitter, an agent labelling a £40k wage 'ridiculous' is ridiclous in itself. Plus maybe trying to not go through an agent is a smart way of saving some money.
EDIT: Pardew always coems across as a really great person in press conferences I've found. No exception today. Was positive to hear him mention they have a plan if Jose goes, and wants to bring in a few new players as well.

pardew is usually well out of the loop in terms of whats going on at nufc. seriously pardew knows what ashley's thinkin - u must be joking! i'd expect enrique to liverpool early next week. wayne bridge is a shocker imo! seriously everyone we are linked to just makes me more depressed. crouch, bridge, erdinc, barnetta, obertan - i mean nothin special. doubt sturridge would come either!
Guest- Guest
Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
I'm pretty sure Pardew works quite closely with Carr on who they want to sign. You can't expect him to come out and tell everyone they're planning on selling our best left back and probably won't be able to replace him with someone just as good.
Thing is, I'm pretty sure Crouch, Erdinc and Barnetta would improve on what we already have. I'm refusing to admit Bridge is a real target simply because he's too old, and Ashley only signs players if they have the potential of a resale value.

I think Crouch would be a good signing for Newcastle, he's gor the experience, and I think is a decent player, as long as you have another striker he can play with.
Supposedly Warnock is being given another chance by McLeish so probably no chance of a deal. Can't think of any other decent young left backs that are up for grabs.

Don't think we'd put up enough to tempt Crouch, and he's over 26 as well. Left back wise after Enrique moves then I'd suspect we might see Jonas drop back there as he has before, or even Fergie. Both of them are more attacking players so we need to bring someone in.
Rumour doing the mill is a possible loan move for Obertan. He's done alright in pre-season and would give us some cover on the wings, but if Pardew wasn't manager I don't think Fergie would loan us anyone

A possible move if Enrique does come to Liverpool is Insua (who's just come back from a loan move) moving in the opposite direction.
