He's still in the squad but he hasn't really been playing well. I fully expect at Norwich victory.

Another person who knows nothing about football, quite a common occurrence on this forum.
Season seems to going from bad to worse. I'd heard the rumours and thought it was a 'rooney type', I want more money but this does genuinely look like a personal matter and his performances have been well below par since November onwards. I really don't see any option but to let him leave and get him off the wage structure to allow for major reinforcements, If Gutierrez is unhappy, well throw his out the door aswell to any club that take an interest because he's been quite frankly diabolical this season. Ashley has seen windows come and go before without even dipping into his deep pockets, well this window is going to something quite different. A replacement for Coloccini is a must, a replacement for Williamson is a must and a new striker is a must. I hope Mr. Carr has a long list of targets......

My god that was a shambles of a football match. We lacked anything in the final third at all!
Both teams should give that point back because neither side deserved it

I heard that Gutierrez was playing off our lone stiker...........says everything about our chances of scoring in that game if true.
I'm just glad we got a clean sheet and a point. Stopped the rot. Good to see Debuchy playing his first game and Cabaye returning but we've got serious problems to be resolved and now only two points off relegation.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Gutierrez was wide left and Marveux (spelling) was behind Cisse so I don't know who told you that but they are wrong.
Gutierrez is a donkey though. Debuchy got better as he went on, he'll need time to adapt to English football. Cabaye never really got into the game, never got a chance to really.
I think both teams would take a point to stop the rot at the start of the game

Jonas playing off Cissie?
I always thought Cissie would suit the role Owen played for us when Keegan was at the helm. In the pocket behind the strikers having a bit of a free role.

Newcastle will be fine when they get healthy and I assume players have gone to the ACON. Regression to some extent was bound to happen, but they arent a bad team.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Yer I was out today but saw on flashscores on the formation they had Gutierrez playing off Cisse, which I thought was wierd.
If Coloccini goes then Jonas can follow his soon after as far as I'm concerned. Ben Arfa is the key for me, always delivers, always creating and worries the opposition. Cabaye will take a few weeks to settle back in which is to be expected. Hopefully when we are healthy again we can resort back to the 4-3-3 with Cisse up top with Marveaux on the left and HBA on the right and a central three of Cabaye, Anita & Tiote.
Must take 4 points from Reading at home and Villa away.....absolute must, just for confidence and belief. Also getting up the table slightly is always key in attracting foreign players
By end of Jan 4-3-3
Krul
Debuchy
Coloccini (if he stays)
New Quality Centre Back
Santon
Marveaux or Anita
Tiote
Cabaye
Remy
Ben Arfa
Cisse
On paper it looks good, I remain positive

8 Million for Remy.

Great signing. As GSC said when Newcastle get a full strength team together they will be fine.
Just make sure you don't play the 11 that started against Brighton, without question that side wouldn't survive in the Championship! let an-known the Premiership.

It's not bad at all that team above when all fit, easy top 6 in my opinion. I just hope that fans understand that Remy is not a direct replacement for Demba Ba and don't automatically go comparing the two because in terms of goalscoring, I think they will be slightly disappointed in Remy. Cisse is the replacement for Demba Ba, he's the man with the burden of scoring the goals in the above formation that Pardew loves and wants. Remy is a 1 in 3 man, always has been. He's a wide striker who can play on either side and it would suit us with him on the left and ben arfa on the right. Annoys me that Ben Arfa is stating that he wants to leave for PSG come end of the season, yes he may play great for us this season but then to lose him would be a real kick in the teeth. Losing Ba & possibly Colo is a big enough blow already, we dont need players saying comments like this.
Apparently the spending isnt finished this january. surely a new centre back is a must and maybe moussa sissoko for around £3m. I'm positive for the rest of the season but in reality already looking forward to next seasons campaign and getting back on track

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
The worry is (if the story in the Independant is right) that Ben Arfa leaving for PSG might be sooner rather than later. Losing Ba in the transfer window was bad enough, Coloccini would add insult to injury and I don't even want to contemplate thoughts of Ben Arfa as well.
We are not (as previously stated by someone whose name escapes me) "a wee club in the North East" but the reality is the big clubs don't lose their best players come the January sales and if we want to compete year in year out in the Premiership then we can ill afford either player jumping ship for whatever reason they or their representatives put forward.

Remy has apparently changed his mind and will sign for QPR
The striker was unavailable for comment as he was busy depositing into his bank.

No such fears. Apparently his good mate Joey B. down in Marseille gave him the low-down on Newcastle and what to expect there. Joey must have had at least something positive to say about the Toon whilst very doubtful he'd recommend a move to QPR (unless of course he doesn't like the guy in the first place).

GSC thought that was a wind up. If Remy does decide on QPR then must be purely motivated by $$ and not adverse to the very high probability of playing his football in the championship next season.

Oh well , I wasn't too overly excited by Remy.
I'd rather see Marvaux out on the left with Papiss in the middle and Benny on the right.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Unbelievable decision by Remy and possibly M'vila. Done some digging and apparently they offered him £85k a week and a minimal fee release clause for the summer if QPR are relegated.
I agree that Marveaux can do a job out on the left and we really should focus on bringing in a centre back and possibly Moussa Sissoko. I know Remy would of been a good signing but Harry is mistaken if he thinks Remy is a 15-20 goal a season man because he's not.

Is there noone in any of the local teams that are fit, strong, got some pace and can hit the back of the net.
I dont want a guy who has gangly legs...and supposedly tricky skills bla blah blah. I dont want anymore Ameobi's, or Kanus or Adebayor...
I want a Shearer or a Les Ferdinand...a no nonsence, tough guy with a bit of pace...who isnt bothered about flashyness just power that ball in to the back of the net....with foot or head.
Surely one of the Sunday or Sat league teams around from Byker to Denton to North Shields have got someone like that...instead of flooding the team with frenchmen and africans...

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
GF in an ideal world there would be a Shearer or McDonald but these types of player don't appear that often. Nothing wrong though with Newcastle's buying of late - they simply forgot to get their cheque book out when the going was good before the start of the season when strengthening the squad was (as admitted in hindsight) the way to go. Even then, mind you, a striker wouldn't have been high on the list of priorities despite that clause in Ba's contract that came back to haunt us.
Maybe there's too much gossip and talking up of potential transfers on the internet before they are completed. Remy looked like a done deal but it looks like we got out manoeuvered at the last minute there so it remains to be seen what plan B is.
Another Kuqi-type temporary fixing plaster because we haven't got enough strikers needs to be avoided at all costs. After all it wasn't that long ago when Ranger wouldn't have been anywhere near the subs bench on a Sat afternoon.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Yes couldn't agree more. When we had the opportunity to attract quality players in the summers and further our momentum, we just sat there and bought Anita, Bigirimana and some player called Amalfitano.......who I still have yet to see in action for longer than 30 seconds. Puzzling.
Apparently the Remy deal is done and dusted. I give it six months and then the minimal fee release clause kicks in when QPR are relegated. Remy and his agent must be in dreamland.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Saint Etienne would be Plan B but I can't see a deal being agreed for anything less than £15m. Mevlut Erdinc is just plain awful, hence why PSG got rid of him and I would be disappointed if Bafetimibi Gomis arrived from what I've seen of him over the years in France and in Champions League football.
Where's the source for that Coloccini news, shocking if true. Hopefully Jonas will follow in the summer. As far as our defence goes, we are in serious trouble. I can see us focusing on this area, instead of replacing Ba and this whole window turning into another farse.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
I think the Coloccini thing is just unfortunate and the club really can't do anything about it. Rumour is that his wife is ill hence why he wants to return to Argentina (where she has gone). I think the fact that the club are going to cancel his contract is an indication of the gravity of the situation and is a sign that the club is respecting all the effort Coloccini has put in for Newcastle over the years, including staying at the club in the Championship.
Hopefully if wife makes a full recovery, Coloccini will respect what Newcastle did for him and make a return.
It just puts Newcastle in a very difficult position, with just £7.5 million coming in from sales to replace 2 key players.

Pardew was at Blackpool last night.......Tom Ince? We have also made a bid for Nancy full-back Massadio Haidara (French of Senegalese descent, unsurprisingly)

As for Coloccini it would be compassionate leave....I would accept and agree to that but not a full termination of contract. No point keeping an unhappy player and he will hopefully return within a year possibly, depending on circumstances. Steven Taylor is returning and if we can somehow buy a quality centre back from somewhere then I would be reasonably happy. The striker replacement is another question altogether. Remy was the prime target and more importantly a steel at £8m in Ashley's eyes, seeing as Harry was going to pay around £18m only a year ago.

You know id give that front 3 a shot John...that Tom Ince looks a very interesting player...
I also think we badly need a couple of top notch defenders...one of which needs to be a monstorus powerful Jaap Stam...Tony Adams, Martin Keown type...just tough as nails, uncompromising, who no forward likes playing against...a back combo of Williamson and Perch is a real concern to me...

Massive game tomorrow, in my eyes it's a must win.
I hear we are in talks with Siem De Jong of Ajax about a move in the summer, however our own future in the EPL this summer could lead this deal no further.
Been apparently linked with David N'Gog this week........oh dear. If that's the kind of Plan B after Remy then we should just prepare for Championship football right now. I can't actually get excited about any player we are being linked with which worries me. We need a centre back but nothing appears to be happening and I've heard no player being linked other than this Jores Okore.

Apparently Yanga-Mbiwa is having a medical ahead of his £6.7m move and we've had a cheeky, if not embarrasing, offer for Bordeaux striker Youn Gouffran rejected. Do we buy from anywhere other than France?

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Was painful to watch the second 45 minutes on Saturday , Mbiwa is meant to be a bit of star over there and really well thought of.
GF , John have either of you heard about Pardew's clause in his contract if he gets sacked where he only gets one years wages and not the 8?
I still find myself screaming out for Big Andy to come back and partner Cissie if we're going to play 4-4-2. Can't keep Papiss out wide any longer.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Difficult to find any positives at all from Saturday.
Only Cabaye and Collocini seemed to have the necessary fight out there although can't really blame Krul for the goals.
Ben Arfa can't come back quickly enough but there are at least three players I can think of who really shouldn't be wearing the Newcastle shirt in an ideal world. it looks like Pardew knows that too given his comments regarding strengthening the squad following this latest capitulation.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Ashley knows what he's doing off the pitch and is a clever businessman, regardless of his criticism. Number of sources confirm that Ashley has indeed incorporated into the deal that Pardew would only get a one year payoff, which is not surprising.
Williamson, Ameobi, Santon, Gutierrez should not be wearing the shirt. I wanted Santon to improve but he is clearly not a defender, would be more beneficial for the team if he is playing more offensively. If we can get two or three in and the injured players back then I still have hope
Hopefully be February -
- - - - - - - - - -CISSE - - - - - - -

- - CABAYE - -TIOTE - -ANITA - - -
-SANTON - TAYLOR - MBIWA - DEBUCHY
- - - - - - - - -KRUL - - - - - - - - - - -
Santon has to remain at LB, only because of limited options and if Coloccini leaves then S.Taylor plays alongside Yanga-Mbiwa. Tiote coming back strengthens the core of the team but that's about it as far as the squad for the rest of the year. Still got Marveaux as back up.

Tiote back will be massive as he'll play the holding role and support Saylor and Mbiwa and give Santon and Debuchy more of a chance to go forward.

GF , John have either of you heard about Pardew's clause in his contract if he gets sacked where he only gets one years wages and not the 8?
I still find myself screaming out for Big Andy to come back and partner Cissie if we're going to play 4-4-2. Can't keep Papiss out wide any longer.
It's true, however reports out of the club last night said they have no intention of sacking him and his position hasn't been discussed.
If anything, it's made them more determined to get the signings in.

Williamson, Ameobi, Santon, Gutierrez should not be wearing the shirt. I wanted Santon to improve but he is clearly not a defender, would be more beneficial for the team if he is playing more offensively. If we can get two or three in and the injured players back then I still have hope

Santon has to remain at LB, only because of limited options and if Coloccini leaves then S.Taylor plays alongside Yanga-Mbiwa. Tiote coming back strengthens the core of the team but that's about it as far as the squad for the rest of the year. Still got Marveaux as back up.
Absolutely spot on. The three players I had in mind were Ameobi (championship/sub quality - shoud never start apart from possibly against the mackems), Jonas (absolute luxury player who adds zilch when the going gets tough) and Williamson (too pedestriam by far). The jury must still be out on Santon.

Why did Pardew take Marveaux off?
The thing that annys me so much about Santon is his lack of left foot ability. Every attack is slowed down / ruined because he has to stop and switch to his right foot.....and hes a flamin left back!!!!

Santon has played a lot of football this season and looks to be feeling the effects of it. Boy needs a break , have a weekend off. Must be paggered as he covers a lot of ground flying up and down the by line all game.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Apparently Marveaux was tiring. Though Cabaye has come out and taken the wrap for coming off, so i'm wondering if this was a bit of miscommunication or bad luck.
Marv has been one of our best players along with Anita.
Santon has more left foot ability than Jonas, who is woeful on that side. Though, he's been woeful all season.
Think that's why they are looking at this Haidara, as cover for Santon who is also cover for Debuchy. I just hope Simmo disappears?
Did you all hear about Nile Ranger offering all the NUFC fans out at Nandos last night?

I saw it on his Twitter account last night , blokes a knob.
It's sad really as his got a bit of talent about him as a player but seems to waste it all.

Given that he was apparently the more talented out of him and Carroll yeah it's a shame, but at the same time he's a complete tool.
You had Sammy and Medhi Abeid getting involved on Saturday, embarrassing really.

Wish we'd sold him for £35m and kept Caroll.

Mbiwa is currently on Tyneside undergoing his medical, expected to be confirmed later on today.
Haidara expected on Tyneside today/tomorrow to complete his moved.
Gouffran fee is believed to have been agreed with Bordeaux.
Sissoko has been withdrawn from the Toulouse squad for tomorrows Ligue 1 match against Reims. We were expected to announce we had signed him on a pre-contract, but the Toulouse chairman has announced that if he stays he will be on the bench. he is close friends with Cabaye and reportedly has his heart set on Newcastle. QPR were rumoured to have invited him round for a game of Fifa 12, but Newcastle manager, Alain Pardeux confirmed the club had purchased Fifa 13, and Sissoko was on his way to Tyneside.
