Selling those players wouldn't be a disaster, as long as Newcastle bring in decent replacements. The problem is if they sell them and then bring in rubbish to replace them.

Rumour doing the rounds in Norwich at the moment is that Newcastle are interested in Anthony Pilkington.

See Mike Willo is set for Cardiff , always felt bad for him with some of the stick he took. Was immense first half of the season when we came back up.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Not heard the Pilkington rumour. I think he's a talented player, although quite selfish from what I've seen. I see Cardiff are playing £2m for Williamson apparently. Yeah, he might of had a few good games in his time at Newcastle but he is never EPL standard. Caught out on numerous occassions, slow, ponderous and technically dreadful. Aerially for such a big man, how many goals did he score for us........I rest my case. Now if Obertan, Gosling & Gutierrez could follow suit.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
I think there is an issue with Newcastle at the moment that they obviously have a lot of deadwood, or players they would sell for the right price, but they need to make sure they replace them with quality otherwise they risk going backwards two summers in a row.

See we are being linked with Darren Bent for £6m? Not sure how i'd feel about having a Mackem's cult hero in the Black and white.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
The Bent rumour has been denied but I'd certainly take him. I always thought he was a dead cert for Liverpool. Cisse was atrocious last season, this Wonga story is just him asking for more money, time to get rid. Yeah, Cisse's goals kept us up but losing Demba Ba's more clinical finishing was crucial and Cisse's failure to convert only added to the pressure on the rest of the team, especially the defence, who basically realised the only way we were going to win was by 1-0 and keeping a clean sheet.
I see we are linked with Douglas again.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Bent's a goalscorer, pure and simple. Villa stopped playing him because they couldn't afford to pay the £5m for his next goal or whatever it was, then the owner came back into money and sanctioned him playing again. Hence their purchase of Tonev this week too.
But he's an £80k a week player, so I'd not want him myself. Better to sell Cisse and get someone like Miroslav Klose even!

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Bent's come out and said he's willing to take a cut on his wages , seems to really fancy his chances of going to Brazil if England get there.
He is more than likely looking to use us for a big move if he starts scoring again. If Cissie was banging them in i wouldn't look at Bent the first time round but with Papiss struggling should we have another look at Darren Bent?

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Thing with Bent is that he needs service, and apart from Cabaye, who in your side can provide him with the chances he needs? He's not the kind of guy to score 10+ headers from crosses, so he needs quality through balls from somewhere.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Hit the nail on the head Azzy , Why splash the cash up top when there is little coming through.
For all his wonderful runs and tricks Benny doesn't create that many chances for other players. With only Cabaye and Anita able to make something with the ball.
I'd like to see us try 4-3-3 again next season with a midfield of Cabaye , Tiotie , Sissoko and Gouffran and Anita playing out wide. I think that's how we could get the best out of Anita in a wide position as his pace will cause most teams problems and he has decent delivery.

If the rumours are true we seem to be looking at a few young british creative players...and i like the sound of that.
We so badly need some creativity...and defence...and goal scorers...but hey we're nearly there

Rudi Garcia, former manager of Lille, now in charge of Roma has apparently made Yohan Cabaye his main target. Should create a bidding war which should raise the fee. I love Yohan but at his age, I think we should cash in.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
John,
Id accept him going for a good fee...aslong as we replace him accordingly. If that happens to be a real talented young English (or british) lad that would be MUCH better.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
The Kinnear appointment just doesn't make sense and he says he has full say and the final nod on transfers........wtf? Pardew can't be happy with this. Kinnear running his mouth on sky sports claiming he knows more than anyone at the club is ridiculous. Basically was shocking for us had a heart attack and left us in total ****. Think this is a big mistake.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
I agree John really do not understand it at all. Pardew must be fuming, absolutely fuming (unless he's asked for Kinnear to be brought in, which would just be barmy)

Stinks of the Dennis Wise situation all over again. Newcastle after a couple of really well run years have started to become a bit of a shambles again. Sad really.

Just noticed this in the BBC article as well
Haha!
Joe Kinnear wrote:"From there we got relegated. People were trying to implicate me when the club went down. That was a load of rubbish. I've never been a manager of a club that's been relegated [Luton were relegated while he was in charge in 2001]."
Haha!

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
This whole story is just puzzling. Ashley must of guaranteed him some kind of job after his heart attack and now a position has opened up and he's filled it. It's ridiculous, he's been at the club five minutes, he's doing all the interviews, determining transfers and deciding on Cabaye's future. Joe Kinnear says that Alan Pardew greeted the news of his appointment as new director of football with 'delight'.......I'll await that interview. More likely, is that we won't hear the truth from Pardew about the appointment because he won't want to upset Ashley. I give Pardew six games next season and if we're bottom half then we all know what is going to happen.....

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Pardew to be sacked and Kinnear replace him?
Think that Newcastle are much more likely to be sucked into a relegation fight next year than they are challenging the top 5 again.

Its typical rubbish by Newcastle...and Ashley.
Just when he slowly looks to be winning back the fans confidence and acceptance...he goes and pulls a stunt like this...pah.
If they havent been already i can see season tickets being given up over this....

Pardew's basically gone as soon as the results go pear shaped and that's quite likely really.
Yeah, can't see them selling out on season tickets, especially if we lose Cabaye and other exciting players, not that we have many that is. Good quality signings are the only thing that will quieten down this story now, unfortunately the likelihood of that happening is slim, seeing as Kinnear is now in charge of them.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Heard this last night, ******* embarrassment. He`s a disgrace coming into the role and immediately labelling geordies and the fans clueless. What has Ashley done? Why the hell has he been given so much power, offices to work in and the final say on transfers. How he claims he bought Tim Krul is shocking, pure lies. Calling players Yohan Kebab and Ben Affra is just more evidence of his stupidity and is hardly the way of getting respect of the players. Just a ******* mess, PR disaster.....not expecting much this season the way this is going.

Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Wasn't Kinnear the guy who called Charles N'Zogbia Charles Insomnia?
Guest- Guest
Re: Newcastle United News Thread!
Correct and then he was sold. It's circulating around that this could be the case again, Kinnear intentionally gets the players name wrong and then they are sold or actually pushed out the door. I'm not sure I believe it but they are the two players that are heavily linked with leaving the club, it could be a ploy to irk them in order for a transfer to be pushed through. It's a total shambles. Be very interesting to see the outcome of today's Kinnear/Pardew meeting, I'm sure both will be on best behaviour.

Total mess. I'm just waiting for the signings now. Looks like Kinnear is trying to get Darren Bent on 50k wages and for £6m. It's a terrible appointment but now we have to see what he can do in the market.
As for the fixtures not too bad. Opening up against Man City is a loss and finishing at Liverpool should end a loss but better to get that out the way first and then hopefully before Liverpool we should be safe. Other than that looks an okay spread of difficult fixtures with easier ones.

Well we can safely say goodbye to Cabaye, Cisse, Tiote, Ben Arfa...etc which as discussed isnt a huge issue really...my concern though is what the feck are we going to bring in.....

I don't believe the Ben Arfa hype. He`s a talented player but comes with baggage, injury prone and I'm not sure teams like PSG or Monaco are really after him like Cabaye is in demand. Were not gonna sell everyone so cabaye n cisse r the most likely in my opinion.
