Suspect match.com would be more appropriate for this sort of stuff. Or Grinder.

Re: Mayweather v Berto Official for 12 September
Actually backing Trussman here, Cant see the issue with Floyd having a fight with Berto.
He must be feeling his age, deserves an easy fight given his last fur opponenets, Saul Alvarez, Maidana X2, and Manny
Four tough fights against respected fighters. Think Floyd is feeling his age though and may retire after this as its his last contracted bout, cant think why he has went for a softer type opponenet other than he hasnt gt much left, and his team know it.
As for the fight itself, considering its on 12th September, might be one of them all day sessions:
5-30pm Man Utd v liverpool
7-00pm - Eddie Hearns circus including Frank Brunos lovechild Anthony Joshua
2am- Vegas Card - Groves, and Money Mayweather
Not a bad day/night to me.

Re: Mayweather v Berto Official for 12 September
Yea I don't mind this fight, there isn't a fight I'm really itching to see involving Floyd so this is ok to finish his showtime deal although i am unhappy its on PPV and not freeview on CBS, but I don't pay to see Floyd fight so doesn't affect me but limits much needed exposure for the sport.
Berto has this going for him he's got great athletic abilities with quick hands and power but in reality he won't be getting anywhere close to floyds chin but hey he doesn't have zero chance of winning
Lokking forward to the undercard

Assume Sky will try and pick the card up as Groves is fighting Jack on the undercard.... Try and build up Groves-DeGale 2 and put it back to back with the Matchroom card on the same night.

Which is why he didn't rematch Prescott. Didn't win the British title thus facing his main domestic rivals. Won't face a Brit ranked ahead of him at the same weight. Won't fight anyone ever again who can punch.
Barring that he's not afraid of anyone.

I hate to agree because I used to like Khan but you are correct. Biggest cherry picker ever. When he started with Roach he started to face good opponents, then Garcia flattened him, he is back to same old Amir.
Brook would flatten him.

Brook still won a world title away from home. I do agree his recent fights have been mismatches.
To be fair I think Brook has as much right to fight Khan, than Khan has against Floyd

So have been his losses. For every good win, he has a huge loss. He looked awful against Algeri and to the ordinary McCloskey.
Sorry lads I am not on the Khan hype train anymore. He will be flattened the next time he faces a puncher with half decent skills.

But his losses don't have much to do with him being a cherry picker. Infact they go against your argument of him being a cherry picker.

He has cherry picked since Garcia. He also was carefully matched following Predcott for a short time. He has some good wins but he has done a good job of avoiding some.

Khan can box but I do think he is slightly overrated. He has some good skills and great speed but I am not a huge fan.
He has looked terrible in a number of fights. He has looked good in some as well, to be fair.
Did you guys see the McCloskey fight? Khan won every round but he looked clueless.

Khan has fought a good level of opposition but aside from Maidana and possibly Prescott it has been hand picked to measure up well against his style. Its no Carson Jones, Jo Jo Dan filled c.v having said that.

Re: Mayweather v Berto Official for 12 September
Looking at Khan's last three opponents objectively, they aren't as bad as are made out and are as good a run of opponents as anyone outside of Manny, Floyd and Bradley have.
With regards cherry picking, the guy has put his last two or three years into fighting the best fighter in the world. Earned or not it would have been the exact opposite of a cherry pick.

Where did I say that Floyd is a cherry picker?
I haven't said that because I don't believe he is. All I said is Berto is an awful opponent, which he is. Mayweather has fought the best but Khan wants/wanted to fight the best = Mayweather. He might get slammed for going about it the wrong way and running his mouth a bit too much but he wanted to fight Floyd, the best boxer on the planet. Even signed for the fight two years ago so you can't blame him for thinking the fight may happen one day.
I'd stand by my point that Khans last 3 opponents match up to any other welterweights last three opponents excluding Manny,Floyd and Bradley.
Basically Khan has gone the rebuilding route since Garcia and after a couple of fights was offered the Mayweather fight. Maidana got picked instead and Khan has treaded water to get that fight fight ever since.

Re: Mayweather v Berto Official for 12 September
I think the 'rules' with respect to testing yourself against the best are rather skewed with mayweather ranjit.
He's the golden goose... Get paid lots, get loads of publicity and your profile raised, not going to get knocked out, not going to lose your marketability after the expected points defeat.
I doubt there's a fighter on the planet who doesn't want to fight Floyd.
By the way, I like Khan, I think he'll fight anyone but his team have been picking light hitters perhaps as a general policy but specifically of late to not risk the mayweather fight... And mayweather has led him a dance.

Re: Mayweather v Berto Official for 12 September
What I don't understand with the Khan/Mayweather situation is the involvement of our friend Mr Al Haymon who represents both parties, surely from Khan's own perspective he must be wondering what on earth am I actually paying this guy for. I know nothing about the politics/wheeling and dealing of the business/matchmaking but what advice is Haymon giving Khan and his team ? He represents both parties - surely he knows all along Floyd isn't going to face Khan - yet he dangles the carrot and Amir goes into meltdown chasing the fight. Seems to me Haymon is playing Khan like a fiddle and letting some serious paydays dwindle away into the sunset.
I think Khan needs a new adviser.
Cheers, Rodders

Khan doesn't deserve the Floyd fight. He is afraid to fight anybody that has beat him. He has good skills and speed but Floyd would pick Khan apart.
If Khan wasn't from here, tou guys wouldn't be even mentioning his name. FFS he was sh1t in his last fight.
He did look good against Alexander but apart from that, what has he done recently?

Re: Mayweather v Berto Official for 12 September
This, ‘who deserves to fight Floyd?’ argument strikes me as completely absurd. Imagine if the Premiership fixtures were decided each week with a ‘who deserves to play Chelsea this week?’ debate.
This has to be the most ambiguous period in the history of the sport, where every single fighter is either a God or a bum, due to the fact there is no clarity or frame of reference to compare them.
If the welterweight division had a singular, universal ratings system, properly governed and managed, then we’d know exactly who Floyd should fight – they’d be the number one contender (or the next best thing if he’d already knocked that guy off).
Without it, the sport’s reduced to a popularity contest (which it always was to an extent in terms of fighters selling tickets). The only baffling thing about all this is that Berto doesn’t have any fans and he doesn’t sell tickets.
Floyd picking and choosing who he wants to fight is fine and dandy, however, no other fighter in the sport’s history has been granted that autonomy. They operated in an entirely different framework where rankings mattered, championships mattered and fighters faced off to either advance up the ratings or win a championship (which was the only way to earn serious money). That’s one of my main gripes with him being compared to fighters from history.
If we take it for what it is then I’m baffled at the outrage surrounding Berto. If the system permits Floyd to fight who he wants, when he wants (as it has for a number of years) why then would anyone complain when he does just that? Why is anyone else better qualified? Why is Thurman better than Brook? Why is Porter better than Khan? Why is anyone a better choice than Berto? They’re all just welterweights who’ve yet to differentiate themselves from one another yearning to be picked next.
I can only hope that this is Mayweather’s final fight and he takes the whole set of nonsense away with him. Hopefully then, this PBC malarkey takes off and reorganises the sport in a way that is more logical and formatted on sporting grounds. Catch weights, day before weigh ins, multiple titles and multiple divisions has made ranking fighters (in an historical sense) almost impossible.
