England vs Australia 4th Test, Trent Bridge
First topic message reminder :
As The Ashes thread has gone on a tangent arguing over who is SA's best fast bowler, let's get back on topic with a match thread.
Conditions for the 5 days look generally dry so there will be an almost certain result for either team. Also looking cloudy for large periods, so the loss of Anderson might be huge for England
England: Cook, Lyth, Bell, Root, Bairstow, Stokes, Buttler, Ali, Broad, Wood, Finn
Australia: Rogers, Warner, Smith, S Marsh, Clarke, Voges, Nevill, Johnson, Starc, Hazlewood, Lyon

Love what I just read on BBC Sport.
Mitchell Johnson is the new man... He's batting earlier than he would have bowled first change.

yeah their best batsman and bowler.
if he settles they could still make a couple hundred.
impossible to get Mitch 1 out.

Just looking at the scorecard. That Extras lad is pretty tasty; the Aussies should have him higher in the order.

Steven Finn didn't take a wicket in his first over. Needs to be replaced.

why even try...to prove ( or disprove ) their dependence on Anderson.
they are very highly dependent on Anderson...who is their all time great bowler....his numbers also speak the same language.
English positions should be ...we are considerably weakened in bowling without Anderson in seaming / swinging conditions....and that would be an honest statement

Is this the session that decides this series? Australia 33 for 7.

Biggest partnership so far is that of the sixth wicket which put on all of 8 runs.

We need to close this out now. Make sure even if we only make 200 its a decisive lead. I don't think we will find it easy batting but surely won't make such a mess of it

Looking on the bright side for the Aussies, they still have two reviews left!

Need to remember, in a recent match Northant went three down to a hattrick off the first three balls of the match, but still went on to beat Worcs.

aussie on the radio "Mitch to the rescue". he sounds like he's confident they're winning with the mitch dominating the eng bowlers.

This stand of 15 is now Australia's biggest partnership of the innings. Australia on damage limitation mode - a tad too late for that though surely? They will do very well to post a score in excess of 100 at the moment.

Johnson's valiant opener-like batting completely undermined by Starc.
Six for Broad. Closing in on Harmison's 7/12 which happened a lifetime ago.

There it is! 7/11.
Australia might not make fifty. This test could be over by the time of United-Tottenham on Saturday...welcome relief!
