Re: Ireland v Scotland, 15 August
im also looking forward to it, but will be incredibly suprised if we win and happy if we lose by less than 10.
lots of interesting issues in the forwards: can Cowan play 6, can Denton survive without a head knock, can Gilchrist play for at least 15 minutes before his hands are on his hips at a break in play, will Blake look completely out of his depth or look at home at this level, will Hamilton stay out of the bin, will Barclay still look like a quality international 7 or is he now an 8, can Harley really cover 4 at this level? Also lots of issues for the backs but cant be bothered listing them!

Oh ye of little faith Mr Scones.
Just wait till Hagrid picks up from a ruck in our 22 and sprints under their posts (yes Hagrid and sprints in the same sentence).
Rhuaridh the beard will give an assured and calm exhibition of full back play and Dozer Denton will have the Irish back row chorusing "No Mas" and asking to be subbed before the half hour mark.
Oh yes and Sharon Stone will be on the phone soon telling me how her latest photo shoot was just for me and can she come round later.

Plays there most weeks for London Irish and does okay.
Hopefully a good game to watch for a neutral.

The reason Colin Deans made this statement was that he thought Denton was a poor and negative 8 who cannot/will not offload and constantly goes to ground in good attacking positions and therefore would be better at 1/3. He (Denton) i playing for a place today along with a few others- notably Hamilton and Gilchrist at 4/5. Battle to see who is least crap - my money would be on Hamilton.
Whether that is that truth or not, making a 6ft 5 number 8 a tighthead prop certainly won't fix it!
Denton at prop is pretty laughable, his body size is all wrong to play prop.
If he is going to switch positions it should be to 2nd row where he would probably be pretty useful.

Usually plays 6 whenever Trevinanus is fit. Started last season at 6 and switched to 7 after Treviranus was unavailable with injury.
You're right though, played more 7 than 6 in fairness.

Hurrah 24.45 on the clock and Gilchrist actually forces a knock on from Conan, making amends for missing Zebo ( at kick off) and Fitzgerald ( at the restart after the Henry try)

Well, a few Irish playign themselves off the plane. D'Arcy as expected and Boss. Cronin having a stinker. Toner looks miles off the pace.
Only for SOB it would be a lot worse.

Re: Ireland v Scotland, 15 August
Considering the doubts we all had about this Scotland team selection they've actually picked themselves up pretty well after a very nervy start. Some of the carries have been impressive. Lineout not so much, need to see improvement there in the second half.
Interesting to see how long they can stay in touch with Ireland for. Will the floodgates open in this second half? Or has Vern instilled a bit more grit into this group?

Re: Ireland v Scotland, 15 August
Pass marks for; Denton, this is what he is capable of
Blake, has pace is getting to the breakdowns
Jackson, hitting the line, attacking space
Richie V, being Richie V
Henners, doing what he does making the right choices
Must do better; Front Five.

D'Arcy and Boss have been really poor. D'Arcy has been absolutely anonymous. Madigan is also poor, with scrum and lineout dominance we need to be in the right areas of the pitch but with Madigan and D'Arcy at 10 and 12 they aren't putting us in the right positions.

Scottish back row getting into the game and gelling. Impressed with work rate from Blake, looking like he could be a very good player. Denton carrying well and Cowan getting about as well. Front five need to impose themselves more. Backs looking ok, closing down the Irish attack well. A bit more possesion start of this second half to see what Tonks, Horne and vernon can create.

I'd like to see jackson come in and push Madigan out one. Might give us some more direction.

High court ruling last week changed any recording of copyright in the uk, which means it is illegal. iTunes is actually illegal under uk law as it features a copy function.
Anyway, I'm not judging.

I must have missed that. He's just a decent option for Scotland who should have been in the squad in the last few years.
