So when will Lancaster resign.....I guess after the wc once the rfu have paid up
First topic message reminder :
I'll fatten this out later, but I think this is now worthy of serious speculation given the wc is less than a month away and the impending realisation that we will not progress from the group stage.

I'd love this to be the greatest deception since operation mincemeat, with the torygrate taking the fall.
Lancaster is daddy's poodle

Can we please move on........
The most awful thing of all is that nobody is can truly know how much damage has been done to the game, here in England, or in the wider international sphere.

Stuart Lancaster has proven himself a monumentally stupid individual, arrogant beyond belief and utterly clueless when push came to shove.
Good riddance to you to bad rubbish.

The bloke was an overly promoted numpty and that was obvious from day one. If you couldn't see it or still can't see then frankly your judgement has to be questioned.

As overly promoted numpties go, this one brought back to the England set up a sense of dignity and general direction, in the wake of the dwarf tossing, ferry jumping, equally as unsuccessful on the pitch days which immediately preceded him. Yes, he was found wanting at the highest level but no-one should doubt he gave of his best, even if that proved insufficient. At his best, he got a lot from a clearly supportive squad - eg the win over NZ and the manner of the 2015 6N win over France when only a big win would do.
I think he also was unlucky: in time, I strongly suspect history will show that the 2015 England RWC squad was made up largely of players who had passed their prime and some others who had not yet reached their prime.

Oh well the rfu should be talking to you, you clearly know what you are talking about and must be right. In fact why don't you put your name forward for the job, you'll certainly put the arrogance back into the team.

It appears to me that the squad is quite divided...
And why do we keep going back to the NZ win in 2012!? If that's all there is to shut about then Lancaster deserves to go, nice guy or not.

Youngest squad at the RWC. Some guys very definitely off form or injured but don't think anyone was past it

Ok, so maybe "largely made up of players past their prime" was a bit too sweeping, but I definitely feel the new Head Coach will sweep away not just the more obvious suspects, eg Barritt, Wigglesworth but also cull some surprising names: possibly even the likes of Cole and Wood. Depending on who he is and how radically he defines 'rebuilding', I wouldn't be totally shocked to see Robshaw and Farrell among other high profile casualties of the new reign's early selections, either.
Geordie Falcon: good questions. What I was getting at was that when Lancaster got the best from the squad, they hinted at very high standards - the NZ win I mentioned being the stand out performance. Given however that this was three years ago, and Lancaster and his squad then failed to kick on and win a 6N or get us out of the group stages last month, I agree entirely that his time was up.

Dignity
who cares, pro sport is about winning. Nothing else. Think any side in pro sport wants to be dignified losers? (please dont answer that)
General direction? are you serious? Is that what the leading a horse round a field course was all about?
we've gone from dwarf tossing and ferry jumping to selecting a player for the first time in a new position in a group RWC game v Wales because of his aura.
But its ok, as long as we are being dignified while doing it, meanwhile his staff were selling shares to players….i give you credit that is quite a direction to go in but it beggars belief.
it's ok…he gave 'of his best'
what a load of LGO energy shares.
as for the bit about passing prime or/and not being at prime yet…QED this means that during a home RWC there were no players in the England squad who were at their prime…..apart perhaps from Burgess who was at his prime , just not at playing rugby union.

Whoa gwlad - might wanna try decaff instead, fella - that's a bit of a diatribe.
I think you're misreading what I meant by 'dignity' and 'general direction'. What I was getting at was that SL turned around an ill disciplined shower into a side that at least went about its business better, ie with more focus. You may recall your lot shipping over 90 points in a single game to South Africa, then having a fist fight at the dinner afterwards. That's sort of what I'm getting at - how you handle victory and defeat goes a long way towards developing positively in the future.
I'm afraid I don't understand your references to horses or LGO energy shares. The point about 'past their prime' is a nod towards the absence of players like Burrell in a squad featuring Barritt; and the creaky back row - eg at No 8, apart from BV, a half fit Morgan and perennial Easter did not shine with youthful vigour. Well done anyway for getting in digs about SB being better at League, and the already oh so dull 'home RWC' bit.
SL leaves without any trophies to show, but with wins against every other major rugby playing nation, apart from SA. Revile England all you like (where the hell did 'we've gone from dwarf tossing...' come from?!), it's part of your raison d'etre, but many of us of an English persuasion reckon that SL was a decent guy who did a decent job to the best of his ability in a role that probably was beyond him.
Never criticise anyone for falling short when they've done their best.
