I think the problem with Costa this year is he seems so much more interested in fighting people than he does actually scoring goals.

That Matt Ritchie goal is something quite special, absolutely superb technique to chest it down and then swivel his whole body to volley.

Absolutely awful result vs Watford. Shameful. Seeing as we have Chelsea & Man City next, I would be putting money on the wally with the brolly being unemployed very soon.

As I said, there's a chance Toon could go down.

And after all that time you spent waiting for him too. Weird career he's had too, only times he's really had success came after leaving a position in the England setup.John wrote:I would be putting money on the wally with the brolly being unemployed very soon.

He had a very good spell at Boro before England to be fair.

His Derby spell is harshly judged. He made them a club with promotion ambition, and the failure of his fall at the final hurdle was created by him making Derby good enough to get into the position fail.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
I didn't see the Costa Chelsea - Arsenal Game or incident. But Costa, as centre forward, seems unusual. Usually it is the defenders that are kicking the sheet out of the forwards, while the forwards go about practising the art of diving. It is unusual for a forward to go around bullying defenders. I do recall Suarez having the occasional bite. Gareth Crooks reckoned the fault with regard the sending off lay entirely with the referee for being overly officious.

Just heard we lost 1-0.
Poor again no doubt.
Only 6 games hone, so not going to panic.
Needed a striker though.

I have been surprised by the impact of Claudio Ranieri and Leicester. After the big decision of sacking Nigel Pearson I thought they would struggle. They still might do but it looks like they will avoid relegation this season.

Ok let me rephrase it, he had a successful time with boro before failing as England manager.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
He had success at Boro after leaving England. Then he got fired as England manager and had success at Twente. I'm not saying England would have been World Champions in 2012 if they'd hired McClaren right after firing him, but...PaulHv2 wrote:Ok let me rephrase it, he had a successful time with boro before failing as England manager.

McClaren was at boro 2001-2006, managed England 2006-2007 so not sure why you think he was there after England.

Think he means as a coach Paul although I think he did the two roles simultaneously.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
As soon as City took Sterling off, unbalanced the attack & then made the woeful Jesus Navas, the main focal point of attack, then you knew it was curtains for them. He could play all day & he still wouldn't be able to deliver a final ball or or pick out a City shirt. Terrible player, who I'm sure most City fans are just hoping gets 'homesick' & returns back to Spain.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
West Ham have been under the radar but now they are in second place. They lose at home to Leicester, they lose at home to Bournemouth ... but they win away at Arsenal (0-2), they win away at Liverpool (0-3), they win away at Man City (1-2). Throw in a home win against Newcastle and they are flying high.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Ridiculous Costa should have been off for slapping and backhanding Kos' face on multiple occasions right before the first yellow to Gabriel. It should have been a straight red. Costa is dirty and he is a cheat. And of course Mike Dean is incompetent. He didn't see Costa 2 mins before put both hands on Kos' face and yank him down. This was cheated three points down to Costa being a cheat and mike Dean being his typical idiotic self.

Would have got very long odds on Hammers getting successive away victories against Arsenal, Liverpool and Man City.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Not often Garth Crooks is correct but what he said about Mike Dean is spot on. People don't pay to see games ruined by a petulant referee, should've stepped in and calmed the situation, instead he allowed it to grow and gave an awful decision.

Ref made a mistake but paulista is an idiot, every one knows what Costa is about. Don't get involved, wind him up instead.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Been rumours for a while that Costa is behaving like this & upping the bad behaviour because he wants out of Chelsea & back to Atletico Madrid. He knows that behaving like this, will get the required media attention & is probably the quickest way of getting Chelsea to sell him.

Spurs look OK today, until they reach the 18 yard box. They suddenly seem to forget how to play at that point, just had a goal disallowed for offside as well.
