Gwent Dragons 2015/16 thread
First topic message reminder :
Sure, but here I am trying to understand your opinion yet, sadly, you won't address a key element of it.
Previously you wrote: "Only sad, narrow minded parochial people stuck in the amateur era mindset would see gwent as something in direct competition to newport." so I wrote a detailed, honest and clear answer as to why that insult is misplaced.
It's misplaced because one club is carrying all of the risk but with only 50% ownership.
Do you think it fair that one club carries all of the financial risk, without total ownership, for a "Gwent" team? Sure, you don't need to address the question but, in all fairness, it will speak volumes if you don't address it.

All's well now with the defeat of the not so mighty Leinster. Hope Lyn knows how the Drags won that game. We both could catch the Os and the Turks during the 6Ns at this rate.

He is a greatly improved player and scrummager this season though Gav, a definite upgrade on Phil Price. I hope this doesn't mean Stankovich is off though, otherwise I'd want us to go for another LH as well as Hobbs.

I personally would like us too see us play Garret at LH, strong scrummager as shown with u20 and we need to see if he can make step up. He cant be any worse than Price at scrummaging. Plus if he does come through it could save another signing and spend money else where. He held his own at judgmemt day last year when he came on.

Agreed, especially the last bit. I would like to see Luke Garret given more game time though.

I assume he left the Blues because he wasn't good enough to get more game time. Therefore, Merthyr may be more his level. And if they're going to chuck money at him then he might think 'win, win'.

Or, the Dragons are pretty well stocked with 2nd choice locks on the fringe of the squad already??? Do we really need another?!

There were players available because as far as I know we're without Coombes, Griffiths and Cudd. No.7 is where we're light so Benjamin could have been brought in seeing as he's still on a contract. Waste of money.

Re: Gwent Dragons 2015/16 thread
It does seem a bit of a waste now Ed Jackson and Nick Crosswell are seemingly fit. Found it a bit funny how the Lyp called the former by his first name and the latter by his surname mind. Guess Ed is in the clique.
But I like the sound of a combative seven, so hopefully he impresses in training (as he's unlikely to play now).

Hallam Amos is being released to play for the Dragons at Ravenhill Kingspan Stadium on Friday.
Maybe if he plays well he'll take Cuthbert's place on the bench...

Williams probably will, I can't see Amos coming in until after that. I've no idea why he would want Cuthbert on the bench.

Picking Cuthbert instead of Amos in the Wales team is a real for Gatland. He should also have a few of these for choosing Cuthbert:-

Oh lovely. However, I think it'll take something to shift Cuthbert. It's going to be a tricky choice for Gatland for the Scotland game, as to which favourite he drops for Williams. Priestland, Anscombe or Cuthbert. Or maybe Tom James will go from 11 to tackle bag holder

They signed White as they had only 3 fit back row players.

Ulster: L Ludik, C Gilroy, D Cave, S Olding, J Stockdale, I Humphreys, R Pienaar, C Black, R Herring (captain), R Lutton, A O’Connor, P Browne, R Diack, S Reidy, R Wilson. Replacements: J Andrew, K McCall, B Ross, C Ross, N Williams, P Marshall, P Jackson, R Scholes.
Dragons: C Meyer, A Hewitt, A Hughes, A Warren, H Amos, A O’Brien, C Davies, P Price, E Dee, B Harris, M Screech, R Landman (captain), B White, N Cudd, E Jackson. Replacements: R Buckley, B Stankovich, S Knight, C Hill, J Benjamin, S Pretorius, GR Jones, N Scott
Have been worried that the tombola was rather redundant. Good to see it get a bit of a spin again.
Tovey injured apparently. Don't know why Sarel is benched, nor why Boris is swapped out. Don't really see why Ben White gets a game over James Benjamin really either. He is only meant to be injury cover.

If it's on BBC2 Northern Ireland then there's no good reason why they shouldn't offer it on the red button, but it wouldn't surprise me if they don't.

Alternatively, the U20 game is on proper telly and there's even a Gwenter in the starting XV too. Marvelous!
