Got some potential. Would certainly trouble Scotland Namibia and Argentina Outer Mongolia.

Small tweak there.

I think the first Ireland team will be seriously troubled by Argentina... let alone Ireland C.

When? Give us a breather, we have to beat France to possibly get them in the first place. France, the team that never tries but always seems to do well enough at the WC. That's not to say anything of Italy, Canada and Romania. A nasty injury to one or two players and Argentina might become the last thing on our minds this year.

French A team or reserves : scratching the barrel on some positions (TH, lock) otherwise would be at least as competitive as the current squad.

France probably want to face NZ in the QF anyhow. Go in as their usual underdogs and remind the world that for 1 single game ever 4 years they are unplayable.

Armitage and Abendanon aren't technically available as the RFU would not allow Lancaster to pick them... I'd have thought Kvesic, Croft (or possibly Clifford) and Pennell or Foden would be more obvious choices.

That Irish lot look dangerous in the backs if they only had the tight five to win any ball. I suspect they'd be relying on counter-attacking off turnovers... which probably means they'd need a different coach than Schmidt to win anything.

The French squad has some unfamiliar names but also some real quality in some positions. They could in theory trouble anyone. Depends on whether they turn up.

Tbh you've got a number of players there who haven't featured in any of Schmidts training squads ahead of players who actually have. I should probably have had McFadden over Gilroy in my team for this reason, and Boss over Marmion; its the reason I had D'Arcy over McCloskey despite being a massive, massive fan of the latter. The players we most want to be the next cab off the rank are likely to lose out to those with more familiarity with the systems and the environment they are going into.

That is a decent team. If Tuilagi wasn't still injured, that would be a decent back line. I'd still go for the verve of Simpson at SH....

Maybe he should have handled it differently. Consistency and objectivity in selection is a virtue in a coach, but that doesn't mean that you communicate with every player in the same way. Gatland will have known that Wales might need Jones more than Jones needs Wales, and if Lee or Francis gets injured the question will inevitably be asked of whether he could have done more.

Tuillagi is fit, he just busy denying he assaulted a police officer. Whereas Cirpiani is busy not commenting on whether he was drink driving. Fodens the one whos still injured.

Its pretty amazing really, 12 months or two years ago if someone had travelled back in time and told you that was the team that was selected the only real eyeborw raisers wouldve been Easter and Mr Chips (well that and the time travel bit)

Not what Tuilagi says. He's still not fit. Not sure about Foden. I thought he was training with the squad at some point as a guest.
