WRU announce record turn over, again.
The Welsh Rugby Union Group ("WRU Group") today published its Annual Report confirming it achieved a record turnover of £64.2m in the last financial year which included, for the first time, the turnover of the Group's new subsidiary, Millennium Stadium Experience Limited ("MSEL").

ie, "We are making more money than ever before!!!!"
But don't tell anyone that the state of the game below the test team is in the worst shape it's ever been in.

As a result of last season. Aren't PRW now in a position to change their own destiny? I.e don't they now have the ability to negotiate their own TV deals, competitions etc?
Not a dig, genuinely don't know!
Also in that report it states that 83% of the WRU's incomre derives from staging international fixtures.

They are signatories of the RCC. But not the Celtic accord, so not Pro12.

Re: WRU announce record turn over, again.
I think the game changer will now be this new naming rights deal for the MS. I know the Principality are only paying £15 million for ten years, but conveniently the WRU debt is at 15 million.
I think the idea is, that the Principality are taking the debt over, and they will then have the re-payment issues. The amount of money the WRU will now keep over ten years not paying for the loan on the MS is quite a lot of money almost £30 million if what I am being told is correct.
Quite the shrewd move for once by the WRU.

So when are the Welsh Pro12 teams going to benefit from this largesse?

It's nothing to them, they're private clubs.

If that is so than I agree. When I first looked at the figures I couldn't believe it. Literally £1.5 million a year worse off than Ireland's and Scotland's stadium naming rights deal. Who would have thought it...

Yeah, the deal does not look so bad when you actually look at the deal I suppose. When I first saw £15 million for ten years compared to what everyone else was getting for their stadiums I was ready to go down to Cardiff and kick off. But when the deal was explained to me by somebody I thought it was not too bad.

Re: WRU announce record turn over, again.
I hate the way journalists are obligated to go along with name changes.... even though they're not getting paid by the sponsors to mention their names.
"Say our name!"
"Pay me."
"Say our name, damn you!!!"
"Pay me to say it. I wasn't part of the contract."
"Say our name!!!!! It's not fair that you don't want to play along and promote us using your tongue or fingers"
"No need to bring smut into it."

Re: WRU announce record turn over, again.
Turnover is one thing, but are they actually generating any profit from that?
Costs certainly will have gone up, even if its just covering their centrally contracted stars medical bills.
World cup year will be an expensive one too.

Yes. But not the celtic accord. Which is a Union led. Which means the WRU probably maintains competition rights to the Pro12.

Hopefully they start upgrading the central contracts to keep more of the star players in Wales.

Have you actually seen how much the WRU stand to make for staging games at the MS. Don't forget, the WRU did not have to fork out anything to get the WC. I think the WRU stand to make more than the RFU during this WC.
