Rugby World Cup Competition Finals

First topic message reminder :

So this is it. Afte six weeks we are down to the last two games including the final. Quickball have a decent looking lead of 76 pts going into the last weekend of the competition. The leaderboard for the quarter finals can be seen by following the link below:-

The rules for this competition are the same. All you have to do is guess the score of each game. You gain points on how close you are and the game outcome.

You can either add your scores for each group pre-tournament or weekly. There will be four weeks of fixtures during the group stage. I will update this thread each Sunday and update the leaderboard each Monday throughout the group stages. I have listed the group fixtures and the week 1 fixtures below.

Please add your score predictions onto the end of this thread. Add all new scores with separate posts

The rules are as follows:-

1) Each week you will be asked to predict the scores from that weekend's games. All predictions must be made before the start of the games.

2) You will be get points depending on how close you are to the actual score. Points will be awarded in the following way:-
- You will get 20 points for getting the correct match outcome.
- You will get 10 points for getting a teams score correct.
- You will lose one of those 10 points for every point you are away from a teams score. Therefore you must be with 10 points of a teams score to gain points.
- If you get a match score spot on you will be awarded with double points. So if the correctly predict a match's score you will receive a maximum 80 points.

Example:-
Your prediction - Ireland 17-31 Wales
Actual result - Ireland 25-31 Wales
Your score 32 points

You would receive 20 points for correctly predicting Wales to win. As you were 8 points off Ireland's score you get 2 points for that and another 10 points for getting Wales' score spot on.

Think the Puma's are going in under the radar this year, and will cause an upset with Ireland. The other three i see as pretty straight forward, though i'll take the loss on the Wales prediction for the sake of a place in the semi , Wales too many injured in the backs, New Zealand go up a gear, and Australia push on with their good form.

Under the radar

They've been having the time of their lives in the headlights - many commentators saying they're just a few small notches down from the ABs and Australia.

I do feel somewhat of a traitor picking Argentina... that goes against my heart.
Just being optimistic with the others but I wouldn't be surprised to see an upset.

The only upset IMO would be Scotland beating Aus.

France beating NZ would be another huge upset.

Can't see NZ not being anything but ready this time around. And really there was nothing that France produced against us that led me to believe they can turn things around that quick.

Wales are gonna be ready to put everything on the line. After 50 mins of a tight game S.A. are gonna start to have flashbacks to the other red and white team that turned them over.

No excuse... picked Ireland with heart and because this squad seems more ready than any previous team we've had. But can't say it's gonna be easy.

Wish I could see the Scots pushing the Ozzies. But the more I tried to picture it, the more I saw Aus moving that ball around too quickly.

Not many? I think no-one. It was so far off the board I suspect no-one will pick up points for the NZ score - just the result and maybe the France score.

Although I haven't checked all of the predictions....
