Rugby World Cup Competition Finals
First topic message reminder :
So this is it. Afte six weeks we are down to the last two games including the final. Quickball have a decent looking lead of 76 pts going into the last weekend of the competition. The leaderboard for the quarter finals can be seen by following the link below:-
https://www.606v2.com/t60658-rugby-world-cup-competition-quarter-finals-leaderboard#3154281
The rules for this competition are the same. All you have to do is guess the score of each game. You gain points on how close you are and the game outcome.
You can either add your scores for each group pre-tournament or weekly. There will be four weeks of fixtures during the group stage. I will update this thread each Sunday and update the leaderboard each Monday throughout the group stages. I have listed the group fixtures and the week 1 fixtures below.
Please add your score predictions onto the end of this thread. Add all new scores with separate posts
The rules are as follows:-
1) Each week you will be asked to predict the scores from that weekend's games. All predictions must be made before the start of the games.
2) You will be get points depending on how close you are to the actual score. Points will be awarded in the following way:-
- You will get 20 points for getting the correct match outcome.
- You will get 10 points for getting a teams score correct.
- You will lose one of those 10 points for every point you are away from a teams score. Therefore you must be with 10 points of a teams score to gain points.
- If you get a match score spot on you will be awarded with double points. So if the correctly predict a match's score you will receive a maximum 80 points.
Example:-
Your prediction - Ireland 17-31 Wales
Actual result - Ireland 25-31 Wales
Your score 32 points
You would receive 20 points for correctly predicting Wales to win. As you were 8 points off Ireland's score you get 2 points for that and another 10 points for getting Wales' score spot on.
Semi Finals
Friday 30 October
South Africa v Argentina
Saturday 31 October
New Zealand v Australia

My gut feel is the results will be as you say, NZ and Australia winning. Thing is do I "protect" a top 5 finish and go with the head, or risk all to maybe, just maybe, move up the table.

Love sacks, I forgot the semis!
SA 20 - Arg 24
NZ 18 - Aus 23
Just going for the outsiders in an attempt to magically claw back some points. All or nothing!

Nearly forgot!
South Africa 24 : 13 Argentina
New Zealand 27 : 20 Australia
Think I need both 100% right to top out, but don't have any confidence that the results will even go that way!

Obviously a date with specsavers is overdue for me.

Re: Rugby World Cup Competition Finals
Cheers LD, Michael cheika has done a brilliant job with your team especially when one takes into consideration what shape things were a year ago.
Apparently the weather up in England is fine so hopefully we can see the best two teams in the competition go at it using their skills and pace and we can witness some showcase Rugby.
Go the ANZACS.
