To be fair, plantar fasciitis is a pretty good excuse, as anyone who has had it will tell you!
He's still past it though, well and truly done. Sadly.

Funny how it all comes out after his worst ever game I think....
Anyways Denver fans have been calling for Osweiler. Time to see what he's got

It came out after the last game.
I don't think anyones denying Peytons done, its slightly curious how invested you are in repeating it weekly.

I'm getting little pleasure watching Manning's demise. Have really enjoyed watching him over the years. At his peak he was fascinating to watch and I loved his duels with Brady.
It's a bit like watching the last days of Montana - you don't want to watch the fading light of a legend but at the same time you can't take your eyes off it.
I see Osweiler has been named starter for this coming week.... if he does OK and Denver start winning again then it's hard to imagine that we'll see Manning in competitive action again.

Peyton in his prime played at a level I've never seen anyone else play at. It was as close to robotic as we'll see.

Yep, he was so much fun to watch. Loved all the pre-snap shenanigans.
Remember when the Saints did an onside kick with the 2nd half kick off in the Super Bowl just to keep him off the field cos they knew it was the only way they could win. They did a good job of it too... with the halftime break included, they kept him off the field for something stupid like an hour and a half.

20 out of the 32 teams in the NFL currently have a losing record. There's a big gap this year between the elite teams and the rest.
On that note, Carolina with their 9-0 record would have to be regarded as an elite team, however it might be well worthwhile pumping the breaks on them just a little cos they've actually only played one team that currently has a winning record and that's the currently befuddled Packers. The Panthers' opponents this season have a combined 28-44 record. It doesn't get any harder for them any time soon either with Washington, Dallas and New Orleans over the next 3 weeks. The toughest games they have left are against Atlanta and the Giants, neither of whom you would regard as being daunting!

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
How bad is the Saints defense?
Kirk Cousins yesterday became the only QB so far this season to post a perfect passer rating in a game whilst throwing at least 20 passes.
He also became just the 13th QB in NFL history to complete 80% of his passes and throw for over 300 yards and 4TDs with zero INTs.
This is Kirk Cousins we are talking about here.
On top of that, the 514 total yards the Redskins had yesterday was their highest since 1991, which incidentally was the last season in which they won the Superbowl.
Remember how much of a joke the Redskins have been since 1991... that's how bad the Saints defense is.

Nick Foles benched for Case Keenum.
Wouldn't be surprised if Sanchez sends Bradford to the bench, for his many, many flaws, he can move this offense.

The browns have made Johnny Manziel the starting QB fro the rest of the season. That makes sense. They may as well see what they have in him. Josh McCown is not going to be the future of the franchise.

As for Kaepernick, a good fit could be Philadelphia and Chip Kelly. Surely he can't be any worse than Mark Sanchez or Sam Bradford?

Hmmm, yeah, tough night for your Eagles too.
You think they should just shut the NFC East down for the remainder of the season and have 3 wildcard teams in the NFC playoffs instead??

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
I like Chip as a coach. I really do. But he has to go before the Eagles will return to early 2000s form.
The roots of this failure lie about a decade back, as they did in 2012. The Eagles FO has been terrible at drafting players for a decade now, and Andy/Chip (the last 2 years) ability to coach have polished their turds. They need a complete revamp from top to bottom in structure through, and that means the coach has to follow (especially given hes the GM).
They should've done this in 2013, but Lurie retained hisbest friend accountant GM Howie Roseman (who is as qualified to run a football team as I am). He should've hired a new GM and tied him to Chip. Instead 2 years later, tired of polishing a turd, Chip decided he could do a better job, and had room to push Roseman out.
So we have to do it now.

If I'm Philly I keep Kelly as a coach, but take away the GM duties. He's clearly not good at that, but for me he's clearly still a good coach.

Yeah, the week 8 game is against the Bengals.
Rams will play whichever NFC East team finishes in the same position in the division as them this season which opens the door to the Redskins playing London on consecutive weekends.
Jags v Colts is the other game which should be interesting enough if the Jags can continue on their upward curve and Luck can regain his form.
As you say BamBam, there lots of Skins fans over here.... mostly old boys like me from the glory days of the 80s and early 90s though.

Yeah this is still a shame for me that Green Bay haven't been!
There are a fair few teams who haven't been... including the Titans, Browns (we can think ourselves lucky), Texans and much more interesting teams like the Packers, Seahawks, Cardinals, Panthers and Ravens

By the end of next season there will be only 9 teams at the most that haven't been over to London. It'll be just 8 if it's the Eagles that end up playing the Rams in week7.
