Am I dreaming or have the Redskins really jumped out to a 21-0 lead???

Redskins of course don't like to win games comfortably so have taken their foot off the Bills' throat and decided instead to give them the kiss of life. Defense bleeding big plays and yards and the offense is going all soft again and playing not to lose.

I'm not entirely convinced that the Panthers are legit, but I can't really think who's supposed to beat them either.

Panthers aren't legit.... they've had a soft schedule. We're lucky to catch Green Bay in the middle of their funk. They'll be bounced out of the playoffs. They've managed to get away with a few games. Any team that lets this Giants team back into this ballgame has a question mark over it.

Wait a minute... isn't that the supposedly amazing Josh Norman that Beckham has just made a clown of for the game tying TD?? Cometh the hour, cometh the man.... and it ain't Norman.
Shame on the Panthers for letting the Giants back into this one.

Thank you Carolina!
Why did you have to put me through that though???
Nice to see ex-Redskin Graham Gano kicking the winning FG.... nice little extra twist of the knife.
Still not convinced that Carolina are legit though but can't dispute that Newton is having an awesome season. That guy is quite the competitor.

Arizona, Seattle both beat them in January.

Interception followed by a fumble is the best possible play in American Football. QB who threw said interception recovering the fumble, just ace.

That carolina/new york game was insane. Still unsure how Beckham didnt get thrown out the game. When he (eventually) concentrated on the game he showed his class but probably shouldn't have been on the field to do so
Oakland being competitive against Greenbay is a huge improvement on the last 10 years, could argue once again we've created our own problems with the silly interceptions and the absolute garbage secondary, but carr is still learning and hopefully we adress the secondary in the off season. If DJ Hayden is still a Raider next year then i will be surprised, the guy is completely useless

There are going to be at least 18 teams going in to the final game of the season with a losing record.

The whole Beckham/Norman thing is just plain embarrassing for both players. They're like the two daft wee lightweights that turn up at a grown ups party and end up with everyone laughing at them when they get p*ssed after two mouthfuls of their first tin of beer.

Redskins deserve it, winning the NFC East has really required the ability to stop shooting yourself in the foot for long periods.
If not Chip, this should be the end of a lot of peoples tenure.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Yeah, that about sums it up GSC. Redskins have done a pretty good job of limiting how much they shoot themselves in the foot over the second half of the season. Ironically, last night was as sloppy as they've played for a few weeks now with the missed extra point, busted coverages and of course, Cousins' inexplicable but hilarious kneel down at the end of the first half.... unfortunately for you Eagles fans though, your team was ridiculously sloppy with the turnovers, penalties and dropped catches. I don't see Chip leaving but I think he'll be on the hot seat next year.

The greatest offense ever falls to the Ravens and Ryan Mallett and probably blow the 6th seed as the Pats implode in OT

Did Belichick just out-Belichick himself tonight?? Why would you ever kick the ball away to start overtime? There are times when he just tries to be too clever.

Am glad the Panthers lost - they're having a fine season but I just don't get the feeling they deserved to go into the record books as an undefeated team.

Because our defence was playing much better than our offence - then it randomly imploded. Happens, with the new OT rules kicking it away isn't that bad a move if you trust your defence

No kicking it away is a terrible move unless you're playing in a hurricane.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Still not sure I buy it Olly. Your offense needs to score at some point in OT to win the game (barring a defensive or ST score of course!)..... why not give them first crack at it?
I guess it's also possible though that the player just screwed up and made the wrong call and that BB is taking the rap to protect him.

St Louis 10-0 up on Seattle... now that's a lead I'd like to see them keep. I'd rather we had a shot at facing Minnesota in the wildcard round than Seattle.

I see the logic, but don't agree with the call. Not often Belichick gets it wrong, but he did on this occasion.
Boy we need our injured players back - otherwise we're pretty much one and done come divisional round

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
ah well, tbh thinking 6th seed may be better at this point tbh
you either play a Green Bay team 3-4 over there last 7 games and struggling on offense or a Vikes team we soundly beat in minnesota.
5th seed get you a road game vs a 6-2 Redskins team at home and who seem to be catching fire at this point.
then a guarenteed game vs carolina who i believe are inferior to the cards.

Or to put it another way, only the Eagles have beaten a team with a winning record in the NFC East.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Cos Cousins is playing better football right now than almost any other QB in the league?
That still sounds weird to say..... but it is true and particularly so at FedEx Field where the wildcard game will be.
It would be hard to find a group of receivers playing as well just now as the Redskins' receivers. Jordan Reed in particular is just unplayable just now.

Kirk Cousins playing well three weeks in a row doesn't make him more of a threat in the playoffs than Aaron Rodgers
Washington is getting blown out in that playoff game - despite Jordan reed being a beast

I just cant take Kirk Cousins seriously. DeSean Jackson is the difference maker, because otherwise its pure dink and dunk.
And again, hes yet to beat a team with a winning record. Looks like the 5 other playoff teams will all have one.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
BTW, re Cousins and Rodgers, I'd also take my chances against Cousins in a playoff scenario rather than Rodgers. One of them has won a Super Bowl while the other one hasn't even played a playoff game so you need to take the guy with the pedigree.
Can't deny what Cousins has done this season though and I take the point about the opposition however he hasn't just beaten the teams he's played of late, he's hammered them.
Jackson does make a massive difference to our offense. He would make a massive difference to any offense with his speed. Reed is the main man though.
I don't see us getting blown out by whoever we play in the wildcard game given that it's at FedEx. Am also quite happy if everyone keeps doubting us. I think we have a chance against Minnesota but I can't see us beating Seattle.
