The England Ill Discipline "Myth" Empty The England Ill Discipline "Myth"

I'm not sure about this England Ill Discipline. Throughout the 90s England would often put teams like Wales under pressure and force penalty after penalty. The penaltys were conceded due to pressure not I'll discipline. We all knew that Wales would have the edge at the breakdown where the penaltys were conceded but for me they were conceded as a consequence of pressure and skill and not Ill discipline per se' - discuss

Pressure would be say in the 22 after repeated phases and look destined to score. Wales never really challenged England's line bar their 1 try.

It wasn't pressured exerted by Wales, maybe the moment. It was ill discipline. Giving the opposition 7 shots at goal within your own half is ill discipline.

Refs do look more trigger happy now especially in this tournament.. they blow up for anything now but at the same time England were not hard done by.

Lawes gave away 3 pens in the first 10... 2 which were kicked. 2 of them off first or second phase.

It wasn't a misuse, I'm typing on a phone  which brings added pressure and requires greater skill

We could never exert consistent pressure because of the constant penaltys England kept giving away which stopped us getting quick ball, that is part of my point.

Do you think the England players gave the penaltys away on purpose for some other reason. Now that would be ill discipline

ruby

that's professional fouls and if so they should be immediate yellows. I didn't see professional fouls though. Cole was done a few times for being lazy. That's not holding on for dear life.

Personally I think Wales had enough possession at times to show that when England didn't penalise (not often to be fair) Wales still didn't look dangerous.

When Wales did score it was off the first phase.

The discipline was very very bad. One of the worst I've seen. Senior players are to blame for this. Yes each player is a grown up but Robshaw should have rallied say after 5/5 for bigger and said... this guy is hitting a sixpence from 50 yards every time... cut it out or you'll answer to me.

Yet I think Robshaw himself was guilty of 2.

Can't you just enjoy the win on it's merits without also having to convince yourself that absolutely everything England did wrong was just the result of good Welsh play? If England had been repeatedly infringing when under pressure near their line then there may be some truth to this, but we were giving away unnecessary penalties all over the shop.
