"England have been cheating for years" - Bob Dwyer and Kaplan

Bob Dwyer has today gone to the media, furious at England's cheating at scrum time.

He has been backed by Jonathan "ask the ref" Kaplan, who tweeted furiously throughout the England v Wales showdown at Marler's illegal and obvious boring in; even going so far as to post numerous camera angles of the clear cheating. "I'd like to see England pack straight...just once" twittered the vehement Kaplan.

Will notorious scrum pedant Poite take note? Or is this just smoke and mirrors by a desperate Australian patriot and a Saffer ex-ref with an axe to grind?

Elsewhere in the news, a kiwi national paper has run the controversial headline "England already out of World Cup" over an article in which they liken Captain Robshaw and coach Lancaster to "dumb and dumber" stopping off to lambast Sir Clive Woodward as "the instigator of England's constrained, boring and overly-analytical approach".

Further putting the boot in, Irish great Gordon D'Arcy has slammed Sam Burgess as "embarrassingly naive" and mocked his selection. "Stuart Lancaster picked a league convert who doesn't know how to play" he is quoted as saying in the Irish Times.

OUCH! The rugby world cup is hotting up it seems! The media have been so quiet until now.

I'm not sure why this is a thread. Obviously true, but no different from everyone else. Rugby's one of those teams where teams search for an advantage and has complex laws open to interpretation. All teams cheat in the eyes of others. The Aussies always talk up their scrum and question the legality of the opposition. In this instance they probably have a case. I'm guessing someone will raise the legality of the tackle release for the Aussies at some point.

I hope they look at the lineouts too when they're at it! Oh and the feeds into scrums.

Certain rules are simply and collectively been openly ignored by all refs in this competition. So much so that I really do feel that whereas some rules have been hardened up in interpretation (particularly around the breakdown and high tackles) others have been officially relaxed to let the 'game flow'.

Well why are the New Zealand press saying anything about England ? England are not even in their group, England are ours, Australia's, Fiji's and Uruguay's problem, not New Zealand's, in fact, the only time New Zealand could probably face England is in the semi final, or the final itself and that is weeks away, and that is if England even get out of the group.

Somuch obsession around the world with ENGLAND. More than the English at home manage.

Well said Gregor. I'd make two points. 1. The bricks are being thrown inwards at England from all sides. The people throwing the bricks are showing their heightened state of inadequacy feelings and a need to try to destabilise England. 2. England are steadfast at the onslaught and much credit should be given to Stuart Lancaster for that.

Regarding the cheating for years jibe. Well that only puts us on a par with Australia and New Zealand who have been cheating since the game began.
