As a Scotsman I was actually gutted to see England go out. Was looking forward to a s vs e final
A related question. How many of the English fans do you think will now sell their tickets. Or will I still go to the matches.

Will support all the NH teams, including Japan (which is NH, right?!). I've had some VERY smug Welsh mates the last few days, but I'm sure I'd have been the same, so I'll support Home Nations first, then Ireland, then France. Unless any of them come up against Japan, in which case I may have to support those guys as the underdogs.
To be honest, if Oz just keep playing great rugby I'll have a soft spot for them too.

I know of a few quarter final tickets just popped up for sale, at face value...
Willing to bet over the next week or so a lot more go up for sale on the regular touty type sites.

Re: Now supporting...
I don't like being called 'jock' as it's often intended in the pejorative sense.
However, if I'm offended, nothing actually happens.
To quote a comedian, can't remember who: "Well yesterday, this man made a joke about the Lord, and I was offended, and when I woke up I had leprosy!"
To the matter at hand, if England supporters want to support Scotland, that's nice. I don't expect it, and I wouldn't be returning the favour if I'm honest. I had a discussion (OK, a mild argument) with a woman in the St James' fan zone about why I wasn't supporting 'my own' against Australia, and she seemed rather surprised when I replied that, in a sporting context at least, England aren't 'my own'. They're just another team.

Infact just had a look on ebay, quarter final 1 and 4 tickets are the entire first page...
And some at silly prices, £500, £600 and £800 versions, I don't think they've taken into account the flood of tickets hitting the market right now, I think if you hold out until after the weekend those prices would be reduced pretty heavily.

Try chain-dragger, convict, ocker, Bruce, dingbat, bogan, drongo, gubba, roo-phucker.
But that's OK. Sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me.

They should be thanking you really, they were under big pressure to avoid being the first host nation to miss out on the KO stages in 2020...now that pressure is off they can relax and enjoy the tournament .

If Ireland go out I'll support Argentina if they are still in, even if they put us out. I love their passionate fans and their ambitious philosophy. If both those teams are out I want Australia to win. Just think it's been a long time for them and they play some really quality rugby as well.
I don't understand why people think we must support other Home Unions. I do have a soft spot for Scotland in all things as I lived there and have many close friends there still but apart from that, I don't view it as any different to supporting any other nation. I'm culturally closer to England than Argentina, but I'm just as much not English as I am not Argentinean so why not just base it on which team you like more? When I was growing up I had a mate in Belfast who liked England just because he liked the way they played then. I understand that more. When you're a neutral that matters more than geopolitical proximity! If you're English I don't think you have to support Scotland or Wales just because the UK is a thing.
”
Pretty much this. I used to support the other home nations over others but life experience has put an end to that.
”
606v2 experience has put an end to that for me. Sad but true."
Sorry - haven't worked out how to quote other texts on this iPad yet..
For me I can see how it's easy to not support other home nations teams due to the bile that is spouted by certain individuals both on this forum to a lesser degree and via other types of social media to a much greater degree. However I try not to let this affect the way I feel about matters because in a sense that is what these more extreme individuals want - to propagate mutual dislike or perhaps even hatred. So I base my own support on the many positive experiences I have had with friends from Wales, Scotland and Ireland. That is more real to me than some bitter twisted troll sitting at a keyboard somewhere.
Most of it is from my mates posting on Facebook, Twitter, Whatsapp'ing me, basically doing everything short of making a sign and standing in my garden.
It's all banter and I'm not losing any sleep over it, but it will be hard to feel sorry for them if they lose.

I guess the sensible thing would be to wait until the final round of games so Australia, Wales and Scotland fans know which (and in the last case if either) game they want to go to.

Jesus. Really? I expect those people are retired, wealthy, ex-army types with excessive nose and eyebrow hair and a good measure of pent-up rage to supplement their single malt collections. It has never occurred to me to be offended by the term 'jock'. Have I been misunderstanding all these years??InjuredYetAgain wrote:Notch wrote:The Welsh and the Scottish.
And, just to show you how parochial some Scots can be, someone tried to get "Jocks" treated as a racist expression. Some people just have their priorities in life all wrong
Jock and Paddy are obviously nods to the names and Taff clearly refers to the river which runs through Cardiff and the old dockers who used to work near it. Surely if being British and Irish counts for anything these days it's that we actually have a sense of humour.

I supported Wales against Fiji, Scotland against South Africa - even posting messages of support before the game.
It came as no surprise that the support was not reciprocated by our neighbours however.

Most Welsh people supported Australia v England, to ensure our qualification. Much like there were English supporters at the Wales v Fiji game wearing Fijian flags. I'm surprised you supported Wales v Fiji when it played a small part in England getting knocked out.

Not to mention Chris Evans making a big thing on Radio Two about how everyone should support Fiji against us (nice from a radio station meant to represent us all mind). That said I don't buy this British all in it together line either.
As much as posters on here may say total dog doo about things, all of us have them in our nations. Where I work I have found a lot of the international only type fans attitudes during the RWC really annoying (the amount of supposedly funny England lost email I have had is pathetic). The fact is when Wales are not playing, I will always wanted either the absolute underdog to win (Japan, Namibia, Canada etc), or the team that are trying to play the more attractive rugby.

Why would I want fiji to win the game. I wanted England to qualify from the group by winning matches, not because of other teams failings. So yes I supported Wales.
