Such a shame - two individual errors undo the game plan which was working magnificently

2-1 loss away at city makes you sh*t? Well ok then.
In the real world we did brilliantly today, shame we couldn't get something out of the game in the end. As I've said before just need to get to January in touch, and bring in defensive reinforcements which we should've done in the summer

Typical West Ham. 1 point from the three promoted sides in the season we beat the big boys. Individual errors all over the shop but we were atrocious.
Least we're not Man United though. Christ is there a more dull team in the Premier League?

Norwich only two points behind Chelsea. Leicester's amazing run continues.

The game was so dull today Dolph that I fell asleep before half time and didn't wake up until the 80th minute which was 10 minutes too soon.

Scholes hit the nail on the head really. LVG is afraid for his team to take any risks whatsoever in possession. The payoff is a thousand 5 yard passes around the halfway line and plenty of time for the other side to drop back in.
Its very difficult to consistently walk it in when teams are well set.

Part of the problem is the playing staff, only martial can do anything incisive or at pace.

Thats a management thing, these players are not greyhounds but theres no way Mata, Herrera and Rooney all want to slow down play and build with a wall in front of them. No risk to their play, and probably going to meander to third or fourth.

Sorry I don't buy that. Players like Mata and Herrera can play at high tempo, Di Maria had all the creativity drilled out of him to fit LVGs blueprint

Wouldn't be to excited if this Remi Garde or whatever this characters name is.
We need a manager with premiership experience for me to dig us out of this hole.
Moyes, Rogers.
Who knows, the clowns running the club will probably appoint Ronald McDonald.
Although I heard he doesn't want it.

Isn't there a period that has to be allowed before Rogers joins another club? Isn't that how it works for all managers or is it a specific contract option?

Unless you're on gardening leave I very much doubt it. Even then youd likely be allowed to join another club or LMA would have a fit.
Especially if you were sacked like Rodgers

And Lerners aim is still to sell the club. Appointing MacDonald and going down makes AV much, much harder to sell.

Felix Magath is available, as is Martin Jol. Not sure Moyes would want to return to the Premiership while he is still managing Real Sociedad in La Liga. Nigel Pearson ... ? Paul Lambert ... Michael Laudrup ... Neil Warnock ...westisbest wrote:Wouldn't be to excited if this Remi Garde or whatever this characters name is.

This united team is painful to watch. Lvg has spent £250m+ so if the squad isn't right I have no sympathy.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Nigel Pearson fits the bill on what he did for Leicester on the pitch, but whether they want another hot-head manager picking fights (let alone the other stuff) then I don't know if he'll be considered. Moyes isn't hugely popular in Spain as far as I've read but I only catch snippets so that may be off radar.
I'd guess Harry's days of tricking people into giving him Premier League jobs are gone, but I still think Garde is a risk. Most appointments are though so maybe it'd be more fun to go down with a manager trying to win you games and make something of the future rather than stay up with managers who only ever look to firefight.

Can Vardy equal Van Nistelrooy's ten on the bounce?

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
We'll see if Arsenal have sticking power and injuries may derail them, but with Sanchez and Ozil in a rich vein of form and their challengers not exactly firing, now is the time to make their case to be taken seriously.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Arsenal were top of the league on 29th December 2013. They didn't win the league. They aren't top of the league, as of right now, it's also October, so it's all still pretty premature. They've put themselves in a good spot, that's about it.

Home to Watford & away to Newcastle. He's got a good chance.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
It's not any more premature than discussing anything in a title race before February. This is looking like the year Arsenal need to go for it as all three of their top four pals from last year will spend big again next summer. Who knows, Liverpool might do too. I don't think they'll get as weak a set of rivals again.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Makes sense, they signed a whole bunch of Ligue 1 players, so could be a good fit. Still don't think he'll do any better than what a domestic manager would do, given that squad.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Very happy with the win against Chelsea, they've been poor all season but can't remember the last time Liverpool won after going behind. Was a really good performance all round, the best of the season and Benteke changed the game two weeks in a row. I was a doubter, but he's doing a good job of winning me round, the variety of goals he's scored is a big plus, none have been the same as any of the others. If Sturridge can get fit, I'd love to see them playing together.
Coutinho has been really poor recently, but that was a big performance, the focus will be on his goals, but I think his general play was really good, him and Firmino definitely have a good understanding. Lallana has been playing really well under Klopp as well. I can see Milner dropping out when Henderson is back to be honest, Lucas certainly doesn't deserve to be dropped, so it's between Milner and Can I think and at the moment I'd say Milner. But squad depth is absolutely wonderful to see.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Has to be Milner Crimey. Been a liability for several games in a row now. Was far and away the worst LFC player on the pitch saturday and when he did get brought off we were much better for it. Not sure what is happening with him as he was supposed to be Mr. Consistency...
A few games on the bench would do him good, just incase he was under the impression that his senior status as VC and his huge pay packet was somehow going to entitle him to start every game...

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Amazing what a bit of belief can do. The players really do seem to have an extra 20%+ in their legs. Firminho seems to have found another gear and with him and Coutinho firing on all cylinders, the team suddenly looks to have a bit more threat about it. Add Benteke and Sturridge in to the mix and things don't look so grim all of a sudden. However I'm wary of false dawns, given the myriad of them that we've had over the years.
Would also like Klopp to get Benteke to take Origi under his wing as the kid could learn a trick or two from him. If he could also get Lucas to rein it in a bit then I'd be happy. He's playing as well as he did before that nasty knee injury a couple of years back and to lose him to a silly red card would throw a spanner in the works. Agree that Milner seems to be a bit of a weak link at the minute. Shame Costa isn't going to get any retrospective punishment for his kick on Skyrtel though.
