1 shot on target, 1 goal. In our position, results are everything. Very pleased with that win.

Play like that and Bournemouth will have better results this season.
Newcastle exceptionally ordinary against an injury hit promoted side.

Exceptionally ordinary, can pretty much describe the majority of the sides in the league.

Lingard finally scores, he's been our most threatening player during our recent lull.

Not a vintage performance but it's another three points, Lingard and Martial once again being the two players to create something, the latters pace smoked McAuley for the penalty. Defence was solid again as it has been all season barring that disastrous Arsenal game.

Gary Monk has to be at risk given at how Michael Laudrup lost his job.
Well done Norwich, Newcastle (defensive display), Leicester (Vardy nine in a row). Sunderland did well to keep it to 0-1 against a surprisingly good Southampton team.
LVG must be pleased, holding 68% possession and limiting West Brom to four shots off target and no shots on target and winning 2-0. For LVG it is all about "controlling" the game.

Only one Lukaku goal and a draw with Everton. Combined with McCarthy attacking Payet to injury that's a good result really.

67% possession, 0 shots on target for Swansea. I've never seen a team with less ambition on the ball. Literally were happy to pass sideways all game which played into our game plan perfectly.
Hoping the injuries which kept Jarvis/Redmond out aren't too bad. Missed them today.
Good win however - ugly one!

The Chelsea disaster continues. It can only last so long, this isn't just a small dip, this is now relegation form for quarter of a season.

So less than a point per game through 12 games for Chelsea now.
Pretty sure most managers in this division could do better than that with this squad.

Oh god please let Chelsea be relegated, I mean I highly doubt it would happen but next to Arsenal winning the league nothing would make me happier. They are just a very poor team, I think they need to cheat more so far this season cheating has been their most effective strategy. Maybe Costa can pack a razor in a wristband and a la professional wrestlers throw himself down and cut himself to get unwarranted red cards? They need to think of something because they play football like Poopie.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
It's incredible, this is worse than Moyes' Manchester United! By most accounts Chelsea played well today but still lost, I just don't know if the players have the heart for it any more, barely any of those who play for Chelsea will be used to this. Every team must now fancy taking Chelsea, whether home or away, they look fragile and then toothless going forward.
I think we might see Jose walk away to be honest, jump before he's pushed, take a sabbatical and then walk into an incredibly well paid job when his reputation has begun to recover. Probably pick up an international side after Euro 2016. If this level of form continues any longer, I just can't see Chelsea sticking with Mourinho, it would be a totally justifiable sacking, unlike almost all their recent sackings. I understand the argument that there isn't anybody available with the pedigree of Mourinho, but his attitude at the moment is toxic and I don't believe that the media or most importantly the Chelsea players are buying into his cult of personality any more. Even bringing in a manager on a temporary basis with a decent reputation would probably be able to somewhat turn this around you feel. Chelsea's players aren't bad at all, they're certainly not 16th in the Premier League bad so you do have to question the manager.

Realistically Moyes was a side in transition & needed an overhaul this Chelsea side have got complacent & stagnated from lack of bringing in people.
I thought Chelsea looked Ok today, Hazard looked decent but Rahman was run ragged by Shaqiri & Johnson for the most part

Mike, sorry buddy but something has to change at Chelsea. The players look lacking in confidence, you've sacked managers for less in the past and Jose should be no different.

I know what you are saying but i feel there is no-one better.
Yes a fresh manager would probably turn results around because they are fresh and the players we have and the squad we have are more than capable, we won the title a few months ago for a start but i just feel that he is our best manager we have ever had and he is the best man to take us forward and yes we are having a not so great patch right now but there is still plenty of the season to go. I defend Mourinho because i honestly think he is our best choice.

It looks like he's lost the dressing room completely mate, there's no coming back when that happens. Doesn't matter if he's the best choice, if the players won't play for him and give 100% then you won't win.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
I don't think thats the case especially the way we played today, we didn't look like a team who has lost the amount of times we have today.
I said a while back before Mourinho returned that i feel we need consitency and to help that is to bring in a manager capable of winning and capable of building a strong team which can compete at the highest levels. I don't think anyone can disagree with the fact that Mourinho's trophy cabinet speaks volumes. I truly believe he could walk into any team in the world and manage them.

On a serious note though mate, you could go after a manager who is with a club and due to your financial backing would turn their head. Simone or Conte wouldn't be awful appointments.

Personally id get Hiddink back til the end of the season (played well fans & players seem to like him) then go all out for Guardiola again if that fails then Simeone.

Ancelotti, Simeone and Capello would be the front-runners, I imagine.
Anyone, even David Moyes or Sam Allardyce, would be an improvement on the current showing. Three points above the relegation zone, in November. Deary me.

I do think it a tad funny that fans who cried murder when Chelsea sacked managers quickly are now saying Jose should go. I don't think Chelsea will get top four, but that's with or without Jose.
Better for Chelsea now. If they won't sack him for his behaviour then they shouldn't do it on results. Reassess come season's end, but if they are gonna go and spend big then Jose can do that and won't be scared of overhauls. He has the force of personality and the history to lure players without Champs League, moreso than many anyway.
There's also a part of me that doesn't want stroppy players at Chelsea to escape blame. They have done it before and should be culled rather than bowed down to.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
So the eve of a new manager at Villa Park.
Time to step up Remi. Team with no confidence, no quality, not much pride with some players.
Massive job for the bloke.
No better team than City for first game. Not expecting anything, but as long as we give it a hell of a go.
These players need to show Garde they want to play for the club.
Ffs Remi, please drop Gabby, Westwood, Bacuna, Clarke.
Really want to see Gil start.
Think Guzan could do with dropping as his confidence is shot.
Give Bunn a chance.
Interesting to see what the team sheet is.
C'mon the Villa.

Bournemouth killed themselves by not signing a good backup for callum Wilson - Murray doesn't fit their style at all and Josh king wasn't good enough for a mid table championship side let alone a premier league one.

I can understand not sacking him for behaviour, you know what you get with Mourinho, but I definitely think his behaviour is only acceptable because of his success. This form isn't poor, it's absolutely atrocious, it's relegation form, they're not getting top four, they require a big change to even get top half at this rate. I was on the side that Mourinho probably should keep his job a couple of weeks ago, but results keep getting worse. Three losses in the league in a row now, only just out of the relegation spots, players who previously looked world class look genuinely mediocre, one stadium ban and another suspended one in the wait, being personally sued by a former staff member, conspiracy theories, taking his staff out onto the pitch so he could slag off referees without getting in trouble, it's pathetic and anybody else but Mourinho would have been sacked by now. I think it has come to the point where I'm not sure he can bring this back now, he does seem to have totally lost it.
I do agree that the players have to hold a hell of a lot of the responsibility, but I think Mourinho is the key to Chelsea's struggles this season, I think it was noticeable from the beginning with his treatment of Eva Caneiro being totally mad. I don't know whether he has lost the players, it's hard to tell whether Mourinho is putting up a front, but if he is even 50% in private with his players of how he acts in public then I'm not surprised that they're not motivated to play for him.

Can certainly see why Monk is in trouble based off today. Not only was their style completely unambitious, he took off Montero/Sigurdsson/Shelvey with his subs. I'd argue they're Swansea's 3 best attacking players. Strange subs

Olly, your sub - not going to attempt to spell his name - did well for the goal. Good unselfish headed assist. I've always reckoned you'll be ok come May but you needed that win today.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
If the measure of man is how they act at their lowest ebb - then Mourinho is just foul - constantly blaming the referee for not giving penalties to his diving players, for sending his players off, for not sending opponents players off. While when he is winning he is laughing and sneering at fellow managers like Wenger. For such a successful manager he is disrespectful and despicable.
I can see why Abramovich wants to keep him - much of Chelseas success has come through Mourinho and Abramovich now wants to build a dynasty rather than to continue with his hiring and firing every few years past practice. For longevity he is now looking for someone that will guarantee steady success - someone youngish, someone capable of delivering steady success, someone who will be willing and able to give at least six years of his life to the cause.
