SOB OUT
SOB OUTplayed the French back row on his own this week and whilst he lived on the edge he managed to get away with it most of the time. I particularly liked the way he fell whilst offside and dislodged the ball from the French SH's grasp whilst managing to keep an innocent look. It was a genuine McCawesque performance and one bursting with intensity, skill and passion. Well played Sean.

Re: SOB OUT
People are giving SOB too much credit for that collision with Parra.
He was cleared out of the ruck by two french backs who managed to turn SOB 180 degrees and put him onto his back in the exact position that Parra was picking up the ball and running into. Any Irish winger would have cleared the flanker 3 yards down the field on his own and left clean ball for Murray.

Watch the reverse angle, he looks at Parra before sweeping with his right arm

Re: SOB OUT
..that the player was Parra makes it even sweeter. That boy has caused more mischief for Ireland over the years. Had he been on in the beginning, the result might have been different.

I think one week for O'Brien. The other two a warning. Didn't see the Bosch one so wouldn't attempt a reading.

Re: SOB OUT
Gray did the 'tip'? If so I think it'll be more like 6 weeks or nothing. Either it's nothing or possibly a yellow. Or it'll be treated like a tip tackle and he'll be starting at something like 12 weeks, dropped by half.

SOB GETS 3 WEEK BAN!!!!
No, can't agree, TJ, think it will only be a week. Gray banned for life.

Gray cleared. His team banned though from all top ranked competitions.... for life. For being a bad example to Gray who was a nice lad before joining them...

Sure that's ok. The younger he is, the more justified the punishment for his heinous crime

Where's the judgements? Did O'Brien knock out each of the citing officers?

Re: SOB OUT
If we appeal might he be made available or is that risking him being out of a potential semi-final a little too much?

Re: SOB OUT
No point in appealing - a one week ban for a punch not seen on the field is lenient

Re: SOB OUT
I think it was fair decision, but he admitted guilt, and so I don't think he has grounds for appeal.
I wouldn't push it anyway

What grounds are there for the appeal? It was literally the minimum possible punishment. Had they deemed it to be more than a lower-end offence we couldn't have really complained too much. But all in all I think the punishment fits the crime.
I think some of the reaction over disciplinary cases has been way overboard. Most of it revolved around Tuilagi getting a five-week ban. No-one could argue that that wasn't grossly unfair, including the organisers- which is why it was reduced to two weeks upon appeal. I've seen a lot of outraged people on twitter etc. saying that it's a stitch up and referring to the Tuilagi decision. Most don't seem to realise that that controversial ban was partially overturned and a more proportionate offence was issued. So is it really that inconsistent that striking someone's head with your knee gets just one week more than punching someone in the solar plexus? Two fairly similar offences and bans. It is certainly consistent with the basic guidelines which World Rugby have where striking with the knee is deemed a slightly more serious offence.

Has anyone got video of the tackle in question? I really don't remember seeing any tackles that looked worthy of a 3 week ban from either team during that game but I am happy to be proven wrong. It was very physical at times.

This is from Scot v Aus thread. Hope it works.

The end result looked dangerous agreed, but it seems from the not so great footage, it's due to the three players involved pushing in different directions at the same time. Doesn't look like Ford and Gray conspired. Very harsh to receive 3 weeks. Could happen at any ruck in any game.

Any incident concerning the head is going to be clobbered at the moment.
Lot of nervousness around head injuries generally
Agreed it could happen at any ruck - that is a dilemma
