Is anybody wanting Fury to win because he's British ???
First topic message reminder :
Just kind of curious if nationality matters in this fight ??
I know that a couple of guys on here (Hammer and Derby I believe) wanted Murray to beat GGG......With me they shared the minority view.
In their case I think Murray being British was the overriding factor...In mine it was the fact I'm not particularly fond of that part of the world.. ...
Me I want Fury to win because I think the Klits.... Gentleman that they are...... have been bad for Boxing and have taken the blue riband division away from the mainstream..
Just wondering if anybody is supporting Fury because he is a Brit ?? Or doesn't it matter ??
Yes or no it's fairplay..

Re: Is anybody wanting Fury to win because he's British ???
you seem to be suggesting maybe klitschko's a little better than some think Rowley? Care to retract that outrageous insinuation before succumbing to further ridicule?
It ain't pretty but after several rounds of being jabbed and grabbed I think most wlad opponents run out of ideas and run out of heart soon after.
Conversely, its what happened to chis in fury 2. A few years ealier, he lost most of the rounds against Vitali but was getting some success and he kept coming, couldn't get through to fury at all and pretty much chucked the towel in... albeit we may be talking different versions of chis.

Usually I'd support a British fighter in a championship fight. Not so much due to loyalty or relating to them just because it should bring bigger fights to these shores.
I wouldn't say I'm supporting Fury as such here. I'm not that bothered but I think Fury as champion throws up more interesting match ups in the future. Wlad loves his belts and tends to go through his mandatories like a factory line. Fury wins and we see things change.
He won't win though.

I like most don't feel Fury has much of a chance, but what should Fury's tactics be, personally I think he should go out and throw the kitchen sink at Klitschko rather than let him get into his stride.
I don't think Klitschko would expect an all-out assault it may just shock him, not many have tried it, Fury tries to outbox Klitschko and he's eating jabs till the inevitable KO.

An all out assault isn't a realistic possibility, Fury will feel the power of one those jabs and go back into his shell like everyone else before him without having the power or chin of some of them. If we're honest if he was called Sultan Molotov nobody would be giving him a chance and yes he will be wary once he's inside the ring.

Re: Is anybody wanting Fury to win because he's British ???
I think coming out swinging its the only cat in hells chance he has, the fight will end early, at least Fury will be able to say he threw more punches than Haye and had a go before he was KO'D.Hammersmith harrier wrote:An all out assault isn't a realistic possibility, Fury will feel the power of one those jabs and go back into his shell like everyone else before him without having the power or chin of some of them. Hope Klitschko batters him, can't stand Fury, he has some truly awful beliefs IMO and has said he plans to use his career to air them. No thanks

Re: Is anybody wanting Fury to win because he's British ???
I think this view that Fury should come out swinging may be a little premature for the following reasons;
1) Fury hasn't shown that he has the concussive power in his arsenal
2) I can't imagine Wlad will present him with openings to hit him cleanly (unless as stated he's aged overnight which can happen to any fighter)
3) Fury hasn't shown he has the requisite boxing skills to fashion the type of openings required to catch Wlad cleanly.
4) Fury is neither a brawler or a boxer which is why I struggle to see how he wins - he is just a crude (not awkward customer like a prime Hopkins or Toney) boxer who doesn't excel at any facet of the sport

Re: Is anybody wanting Fury to win because he's British ???
The big thing Fury has going for him is unpredictability. If he can couple that to a high workrate (with movement) that will be enough to give Wlad fits.
If Wlad didn't have crazy power and conditioning for someone his age (raises eyebrow) then I'd pick Fury to pull it off. I just feel he'll walk onto one at some point - after scaring Klitschko along the way.

while i have respect for wlad, he also bores me. his fights are rubbish. it would be nice to see some new life in the division. fury certainly isnt the first person i would pick but at the moment im happy for anyone to rid wlad. the likes of fury v wilder would be far more interesting than any of wlads fights even in the short time it would last
cant see fury doing it though

Re: Is anybody wanting Fury to win because he's British ???
This is not even a fight. Fury has talked his way into contention having fought nobody. He'll be beaten and retire. Which is annoying because he'll always be able to say he was only beaten off The Best. When really if he'd fought anyone with a pulse (Pulev, Povetkin, Arreola, Stivern, Wilder, Jennings, Thompson, Haye etc) then he would have been beaten already.

Beat Chisora twice.............Had Haye run out on him twice...
Love to see how many contenders in the last 5 years had better records going into a Wlad fight ??

Re: Is anybody wanting Fury to win because he's British ???
does Haye running away count on fury's record beefy?
I think you're harsh on Fury fingers, I'd give him a shot at most on that list, not many of whom have beaten anyone better than chisora.. arreola? what's he done to say he's any better than cunningham. The only thing jennings has done is give klitschko a better fight than expected, thompson made his name knocking out price... that we've now established he could have done by breaking wind rather than wasting time throwing a punch. Oh he beat solis as well... after they found a crane to get him into the ring. Is pulev really all that? Good amateur record but looked a plodder to me and his only win of note is thompson.
Most of those guys could beat fury, some would definitely start favourite but the idea he'd be rolled by all of them is harsh in my opinion. I take it you're not a fan

I've always liked Fury. I simply don't rate him as a boxer. Big heart though.

He moves ok for a man his size and has a decent variety of punches too.

Furys not a great heavyweight by any stretch but how he gets rubbished in comparison to crap like Arreola, Stiverne and Thompson is beyond me.

I quite like Fury but he has no chance in this fight. Far too clumsy to even make it a competitive defeat. Easy ko for Wlad in this one whenever he wants.

Re: Is anybody wanting Fury to win because he's British ???
Anyone really think Haye bottled it? Really? So, spent all that money and energy on a full camp, only to quit scared the first time, then invested in exactly the same build up the second time only to realise, "Oh, yeah, that's right, I'm scared aren't I? I knew there was something I was forgetting. Best pull out then. Crikey, what am I like, forgetting I was scared and forking out all that time and money, only to then remember how scared I am with just a few days to go."
Please.
Please.

I don't think he bottled it, just found out he was nowhere near Wlads level and couldn't get to him so kind of gave up.
Would have liked to see him carry on operating at a level just below Wlad (the gatekeeper so to speak) but hey ho

I think Qoxiivi was referring to the statement that Haye bottled it twice against Fury... if I've got that wrong then my apologies.
This really is a poor time for heavyweight division but having Fury as Champion would take the division to new depths. He just doesn't look like a boxer, yes he has some skill but I can live with Wlad for a bit longer instead

I think he did fancy it, but when he got in the ring, jabbing away, he just couldn't find klitty and soon lost interest in trying to.
We've all been there.
