Hughie Fury is no longer on the undercard now, pulled out after having numerous changes of opponents. Can't say I recognise any names on the undercard anymore.

Fight apparently getting pulled? Fury isn't happy with the softness of the canvas so is refusing?

No MM, the fight will definitely be going ahead. Apparently Team Klitschko had asked for three layers of foam beneath the ring to restrict the movement of Fury, it has been relayed now.

Only a few hours now!
Who is on the undercard? Nobody?

Fury made Klitschko rewrap... No way he hasn't extremely annoyed Wlad. Still don't think he'll win, but he's amused me

Re: Wlad v Fury - predictions?
I think Truss might have it spot on. Wlad has acquiesced without much fuss on these issues. I wonder if he's the wum this time distracting fury under the guise of being put upon.
Re: Wlad v Fury - predictions?
Its all attempts by Klitschko to just unsettle the opponent. There is no way Klitschko would expect to have his hands wrapped without supervision. Sky are saying Fury is getting the mental edge by Klitschko having to concede these ring foam, the gloves, the wraps. They are missing the point. They expect that to happen. Its the Fury camp who wind up with the agitation and get unsettled.

Wladimir has feasted on smaller men throughout his career, who have bloated up to try and match his heft.
Most were defeated (controlled) by Klitschko long before the first bell.
Klitschko won't be able to hold and grapple Fury.
Fury has the spirit, the guts to fight Klitschko hard (something he hasn't encountered since Sam Peter had him all over the show ten years ago).
Fury's younger, quicker and fresher (with the better engine).
If Fury goes down, he's shown the ability to get back up and keep ticking.
Any upset alarm bells ringing?

I cant really say I expected Fury to win but I gave him a decent chance. Party because hes better and gutsier than most think and partly because Klitschko is nowhere near as good a heavyweight as he is made out.

And it's me that needs to get a clue?.........

Re: Wlad v Fury - predictions?
Also I'd like to add that although Wlad's not as bad as a lot of people are making out, and yes he ruled probably the weakest era in the history of gloved fighting, I think he has indeed left a big question mark next to his legacy with Saturday night's performance as someone on another forum suggested.
He simply isn't prepared to put himself on the line to win a fight. He just won't take risks even when staring at a loss. He's not willing to endure pain. He's a safety first fighter. Will this count against him in years to come? I guess only time will tell.

Re: Wlad v Fury - predictions?
Don't kick a man when he's down, Herman. If Wlad was worried about how he'd be perceived in years to come, he'd have already decided to become a balls to the wall kinda fighter. In the eyes of many, it really doesn't matter what dross you beat just as long as you smash them to bits. Wlad was happy to win and ensure he didn't take any unnecessary punishment in the process.
Like I've said on numerous occasions, Tyson's early record is utter cack but he was knocking them over for fun and bringing a bit of excitement back to the division. The hype train will always go into overdrive when you have a fighter like that. The British press went crazy for Bruno when he was smashing slobs to bits in much the same way they're hyping Joshua. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, it happens in every aspect of life and then when they hit a stumbling block they're just as quick to bring them back down to earth.
This shouldn't be a problem for Fury as a lot of people still thinks he's rubbish (just happens to have been less rubbish than Wlad on the night) so it won't be much of a surprise when he does finally get beaten.

Re: Wlad v Fury - predictions?
i do think his legacy has been damaged with the defeat, only thing will help him is if fury goes on proving us wrong and beating the next challengers becoming the next "great" heavyweight. with joshua and wilder in the wings i cant see it.
wlad will be remembered as a guy who part ruled the weakest era, good boxer who beat a lot of rubbish but no great stand out wins in his career (beating a crusier weight his best win?)
he will also be remembered as being mind numbing boring and too cautious
toppy i always had vitali as the better fighter, even if wlads cv and reign was longer

thing is herman, once you get past 13-14 heavyweights you get a lot of fighters who can sneak in there and lots of fighters who dont have wlads reign for so long to back them up

I think he belongs 11-20 based on record, achievement etc.
I could pick way more than 20 who'd have beaten him, though.

Re: Wlad v Fury - predictions?
Think 15-20 is still about right, based on record and longevity, but the Fury fight highlights his frailties so badly. Often felt Vit would win in a fight but Wlad had the record so kept him a place or two ahead. Saturday showed that had Vit stayed around and uninjured he probably would have ruled just a decisively - but likely wouldn't have lost to Fury as he was more fearless than Wlad, or Fury, and had the chin to walk through whatever Fury threw (which actually wasnt' that much or that special).

Got to be honest, I don't and never have seen Wlad as a top twenty man compelling, but he made Haye look very very ordinary so he clearly ain't that bad.
I'd like to see Wlad in with Wilder and Joshua. If he did well in those fights then you could put the Fury loss down to a style thing. Beat those two and yes there'd be a case for for twenty. As things stand, his record doesn't quite justify that standing for me. It's just too drossy.
Also didn't fight his chief rival(which you can't blame him for,) but I think Vitali beats him and he'd never have the reign he had.

I suppose by putting others down, it elevates your own sense of self-worth.
It's the dogmatic tone that gets me.
Thing is Hammer, I wouldn't mind being patronised by someone who knows what they're talking about.

Never said I was an expert but sometimes you just know, and that was one of those occasions where I think most people knew what was going to happen.
Picking Biggs to win was certainly very much going against the grain.
