Well I know many on here don't care too much about ppv, but if that figure is correct, then that is a great number.

It isn't quite what Oscar was looking for, but imo anything over 700k is a great success. It shows there is life after Floyd and Manny after all.

Promoters need to keep working together and put on more big fights for the fans next year. I think 2016 will be a big year for boxing, both domestically and World wide.

Looking forward to it, good times ahead.

Shows what a poor draw Lara is, Canelo only for 300k for that fight.

That said, Cotto got about the same for Martinez.

Does look like Canelo will be the next PPV 'star' (though never on Floyd or Manny's level, IMO) unless the Yanks suddenly take to GGG or if AJ takes off over there.

Just to throw my own 2 cents in. I don't think PPV numbers are relevant to the future prospects of boxing. So whether the fight did 100k or 1m is not relevant. Ultimately boxing will survive by seeing the best fighters in a weight division fighting regularly and a decrease in the number of fights being shown on UK domestic PPV which should at most be on subscription channels. Also having more fights on regular TV wouldn't be a bad shout either hence the reason I think Al Haymon's moves to put more fights on domestic TV in America can't be a bad thing

Lets be honest who cares ? Mayweather is the record holder and was absolutely dismal to watch - he'd have been another Pernell Whitaker in terms of drawing crowds if it weren't for the new modern age of Social Networking and fans needing a be11end character these days.

I care. Big numbers, mean big purses. Which means less men will avoid each other.

So far, big PPV numbers haven't made fights any easier to make. If anything, fighters don't want to take any risks while they're looking for that PPV fight.

People should be grateful for PPv..

We wouldn't have had Bellew v Cleverly otherwise..

Of course I would rather have no PPV. Who would want to pay for a fight, if given a choice?

I'd like all fights on free TV... even channel 5. The quality of the cometary and even the camera work might be vastly inferior to SKY ppv but I'd rather save my money if I could.

As that isn't an option I'd happily agree to paying extra for the 'big' fights... problem is any additional baggage between fighters qualifies a fight as 'big' now. I think I DAVE666 could get on PPV if he could get Froch out of retirement.

Top fighters earning big money for average opponents whilst two decent fighters go at it in a 50/50 fight for peanuts is a big problem in boxing. I don't see how few well sold PPVs improves boxing

PPV has been disastrous for boxing, especially its fans.

Exactly Catchweight, I struggle to see how PPV numbers give any insight into the health of the sport

Good to see Canelo latest interview.

States that he isn't making up a new division, but if anyone wants to fight him from now on its only at 155lbs so people will have to go up to that weight or come down to it.

Boxing = Mess

In a perfect world, the rest of the boxers would stick 2 fingers up at him and say, sod it we'll just fight amongst ourselves at the proper weight and every.single.one. would state that if he wants to call himself the mw king then he has to come up to the weight to face them.

Sod him

Well it seems PBC may lead us to a more equitable world if it takes off like it plans to. I'm not sure I saw enough in Alvarez (apart from being Mexican and looking two weights above Cotto) that suggests he has the charisma and skill to be the new PPV king

Good numbers, hardly suprising since Cotto pulled in 500k and Canelo pulled in 500k previously

Why not a rematch? It was a good fight, I would expect Canelo to be the one to step it up, even though I thought it was close, Canelo is the one who could do more and looked like he had more gears

on 900k PPV its good money for both guys

Lets be real, neither man will fight GGG
