The rare sighting of Tommy Fleetwood in the Top Ten. Where's he been? No Top Ten finishes for six months.

WTH kind of name is Callum Shinkwin?
His parents must be American Ex-pats.

I would have thought the surname looks more unusual. Callum is a very common name.

Just because it's common to some doesn't mean it's acceptable.

How anyone could think that something ordinary, traditional and humdrum like Callum is anything like comparable to made up, contrived "names" like Boo, Webb, Tiger, Smylie, Johnson, Bubba, Keegan etc as absurdly stupid first names is beyond me.

France bans stupid names all the time. Maybe that's why Bubba hated it there.

I guess I could say:
Webb, Boo, Bubba etc. are perfectly acceptable AMERICAN NAMES
because that would make it all right.
I know a lot of guys that go by Bubba, and know of several guys name Webb.
Psssst, we got our independence from you well over 200 years ago. We have our own mores and culture here.

I also know a couple Bubbas and one other Webb. And if the name is familiar to me, it's on the approved list.
Yet, I don't know anybody with the ridiculous name "Callum" ... I mean how goofy can you get? I don't care what sense of "tradition" or "history" it has ... it's one goofy name. Why not name your kid Rimshot or Feedback? It sounds just as silly as "Callum". It is therefore NOT on the approved list.

I hope your friend Webb hasn't named his daughter after the hotel chain she was conceived in . . . . . . .
Certainly more Callums than Boos or Bubbas up here . . . . . . . but our Mayor's name (successor a generation removed from Bernie) is Miro, so Watcha Gonna Do (About it, as the Small Faces might ask)?

I don't care how many people have the goofy name Callum "up here", it's unfamiliar to me so it's not approved.
I further assume your "friend" named Callum lives in a trailer park ... I hope they have heat.

Think he lives at Furman at the moment, no trailer trash there (tho it did look a bit run down when I went some years ago) and not much need of heat either.

Callum is an ugly name, sounds like Gollum. Maybe works better if your brothers are called Frodo and Bilbo. Shotrock, do those names meet your approved list? They are less silly than Boo and Bubba.
I quite like your new suggestions, certainly better than Frank Zappa's efforts (Moon Unit anyone?). We have a baby coming in April so I'll mention them to my wife. Rimshot for a boy and Feedback for a girl.

Callum (the Scottish form of Columba) is a male given name and surname of Gaelic origin meaning "Dove". It may be also spelled Calumn, Calum or Colum. Callum was popular among early Christians because the dove was a symbol of purity, peace and the Holy Spirit. St. Columba was one of the most influential of the early Celtic saints. Callum is an especially popular boy's name in Scotland and it is also spelled Colm in Ireland.McLaren wrote:Is Callum even a real name in the UK?

Re: European Tour 2016 - Dubai
Can't say I'm particularly bothered what names are given to people, though I am on Super's irksome and awful list. I will mention this to my mother and see if we can effect a change! Have to say this news has devastated me, but sure counselling will help if I can't persuade my mother to amend her decision to name me after her father!. Will have to crack on though, she's 100 in a few months.
One point which does interest me, is that there are a lot of names given to people in US, among very religious groups which seem to have no religious recognition? I know Bubba is only a nickname, and his given (Christian) name is Gerry (Gerald?) but is it an accepted concept? All for more originality in names - just wish my mother agreed and then I wouldn't have to live with the burden of being on Super's list!

What's up with you Scots? Now I find my son in law on an irksome and awful list. He'll be devastated - 6'6", muscles in his spit, intelligent, clever and successful - but now with an irksome and awful name. I've always thought it a bit odd that he doesn't play golf, but now it's all clear!!

Another good day for Paul Lawrie - now with a two shot lead going into the final round. Cool and windy in Qatar saw some high scoring all round and it's forecast to be worse tomorrow. Could Lawrie be the first three-time winner of this tournament?

Dunno, but difficult not to admire him.
Would be quite the double if he and Murray could pull off a Scottish double this weekend #long odds.

Andy will sadly get pumped. His mental block against Djokovic is massive buts whats worse is that he is correct to fear Novak's superior ability.

Agreed, but stranger things have happened; and Murray's the best person to take advantage if Novak's not at his best (like 100 unforced errors vs Gilles Simon).
Hoping Lawrie sets a good example . . . .

Agreed, Murray is perhaps the only player who can beat Djokovic right now.
He's due another win over him in a GS Final, could happen, but I'd make Djokovic about 65% likely to win.

Nightmare in Qatar for Paul Lawrie.
It's his Grace's to lose.
(Not a good start for Jamie Murray either.)
(Edit: Good finish though.)

Congratulations Branden Grace. What a 3 iron to finish on 18, class.
But more importantly what about his name? Is it too similar to the Caden, Jayden, Hayden irksome mob? Does that take some shine off the win?
Shotrock, I'll add that one to the baby name list, I think it is a better alternative than Rimshot.
Anyway, I saw an interview with Bubba once where he explained his name. He said that with the name Gerry he was always worried about anti-Irish abuse on an internet forum from a bloke called super realist. He felt Bubba would attract less ridicule.

It's not really a mental block is it? Murray has often raised his game and played excellent stuff against Djokovic, it's just Djokovic is better. Bit like saying you have a mental block against McIlroy because you've never beaten him

Murray has no chance against Djokovic, the two players who can beat him are Federer and Wawrinka. Although Fed now has a mental block in slams against Djokovic.

Murray hasn't beaten Novak for 6 months.
No shame in being second best in the world.
Plus, Murray has beaten Novak in their two non-Aussie Slam Finals; not as if it's always been one-way traffic, but Noavak at a very high level these days.
Thanks for the tee-times, sirb; I see Clarke is interviewing again, Olesen and Pieters this time!

Murray has beaten Djoko in slams before, in Masters tournaments and the piglike Wawrinka has only beaten Djokovic a paltry 4 times out of 23 matches.
Djokovic is in a class of one, Murray got pumped in the first set, but was with him in the other 2.

Murray has beaten him just once in the last 12 meetings! He has also lost his last 5 matches vs Federer! He is marginally the second best player according to the rankings but he is in no way Djokovic's main threat, I'm afraid.
Wawrinka is the only player to have beaten Novak twice in slams since 2014....plus the majority of that head to head record vs Novak was before Stan became an elite player.

Wawrinka rarely gets to the point where he gets to play Novak that often. He's 2 years older than Murray but has faced him 8 fewer times. Plus Wawrinka's win in the FO came after Murray had taken him to a Marathon 5 set match whilst Piggy had a day off.

He has faced him less often because his tennis has gradually improved with getting older...If you were to ask Djokovic fans who they would rather play in a slam final out of Murray and Wawrinka, it would be Murray because Murray has nothing to hurt Djokovic with. Stan has the ability to overpower Djokovic on a good day.

Defensive? He hit more winners than Djokovic did at the weekend, 25% more. Murray lost on unforced errors primarily, as he had 50% more than Novak.

9 more winners isn't a substantial difference....so you regard Andy Murray as an attacking tennis player then?

He didn't used to be, he is certainly more attacking than he used to be. He's not as attacking as Piggy, but I wouldn't call him a purely defensive player. He's certainly got more variety than Piggy if that's what you mean, which is why he's a better player than him.
Depends who he's playing, for example, more winners and twice as many shots at the net won show he adopted an attacking aspect to that game.
