Unless I've missed something, Marcus Fraser's win in Malaysia means Cabrera-Bello and Fraser will take the two spots in the WGC-Cadillac Championship via the R2D qualification route, the only golfers in the Top Ten money, apart from Nathan Holman, who won't qualify via the Official World Rankings Top 50. Frsaer in, Pieters out as a result of their week's work.

Harrington playing the Indian Open, won't help his chances of qualifying for the Masters!?

Great stuff from Louis Oosthuizen but why is he playing this week and last, when he should be playing in America?!

Quite!
King Louis marches to the beat of a different drummer. (Bit like Harrington in that respect.)
Hope he's got his flight booked to Miami . . . . .

Probably getting good appearance fees for both weeks!
Stenson also yet to play on the PGA Tour in 2016, but that is the trend with Stenson starting off late Feb/early March on the PGA Tour

Uihlein seems to be leading after the opening round quite a bit lately, he just cannot seem to maintain it!

Good round Friday for Thomas Pieters, and he needed it.
Good finish required to get into the MatchPlay field. Not that far adrift of the Top 50, and Augusta, for that matter.

And just as good from Pieters in RD3, chance of a victory and getting into the world's top 50!

Pieters could get as #45 if he wins. That should be enough to keep him in the Top 50, no matter what he does at Bay Hill and Match Play.

Nice first EuroT win by SSP Chawrasia
Yet another non-European wins a stroke play EuroTour event.
5 Saffers for 6 wins (Schwartzel(x2), Oosthuizen, Grace, Stone, Porteous)
5 Aussies (Leishman, Holman, Fraser, Scott, Hend)
1 American (Fowler)
1 Indian (Chawrasia)
1 Brit (Willett)
Europe did win Eurasia Cup, if that is consolation.

Let's be transparent here, most of those aren't really Euro tour events. Saffers winning in saffer events, Indian winning in India.

Re: European Tour 2016 - Dubai
The European Tour is a business organisation, not a national or regional body - "European" is a name, not a description and indeed it's become a misnomer as you don't have to be European to play on it, and very few of the events are played in Europe. But it is headquartered in Europe I guess and despite the fact it doesn't play often in Europe, there is no other tour of better standing in the region, and so it is the (leading) European tour.
So these events very much are European Tour events, it's just the European Tour is more International (which would be a much better name) than European.

Re: European Tour 2016 - Dubai
Bob, the events in South Africa are Sunshine tour events. And the Indian Open and Malaysia Open were Asian Tour events. The ET recognises them just to pad out the schedule. The US Open isn't a European Tour event but it is part of the ET schedule.

Re: European Tour 2016 - Dubai
So if it was called the International Tour it would be both descriptive and accurate.
Personally I like a lot of the co-sanctioned events and can't help but feel they must produce more rounded and complete golfers/people, and of course they help spread the message of top class golf to other regions. But I agree that "The European Tour" is a bit misleading.

Looks like about 17 x Top 100 golfers playing in Open De Espana. Not great, but not too bad considering it's the week following Augusta.

Doesn't sound too bad for a European tour event at that time of year.

Happy to see a strong start from Alex Levy, love to see a golfer who plays with a smile on his face.
Not so good from JB Hansen who started off 5,7,8,9, chased that with a couple more bogeys, and withdrew after nine holes. I know how you feel JB!

Sergio not doing too well. I always think that the golfer who hosts a tournament always has too much non golf to do to have a good tournament.

Andrew Johnston, never heard of him. Not too sure about his look.... fatter, uglier, more gormless looking version of Shane Lowry, with a more stupid looking beard.

Did anybody see the speed golf challenge at Valderrama? Impressive performance from the French team of 34 seconds to play a 500 yard hole.

Certainly a contrast to the slow play at Augusta last week!

Re: European Tour 2016 - Dubai
Does Pablo want advice, sympathy or something else?
He was incredibly chipper on Friday after a level par round had hi at -3 and his own prediction of leading at the end of the day. Also noticed his playing partners not too impressed by his antics Saturday, shouting at scoreboard carrier while they were putting.
Concentrate on playing Pablo - you're a lucky lucky chap.

Good point sirb,
Dubuisson was apparently in very good position when he made his exit. Can understand the way off the cut-line doing a runner but not someone who, from all leaderboard appearances, in the Top 20.
Happy to see Luiten finding some form after a lousy year, and Gallacher doing well after being out for a while.

I don't think Kwini sleeps Pedro. I think he's doing research for the next time the fantasy league is in Europe I mean Asia.
I, on the other hand, was woken up by my missus about an hour ago and I can't get back to sleep.

STP can be a bit of a Frak so take this with a pinch of salt, but he has made the claim that the British Masters will be held a Close house by Westwood then at Sunningdale by Rose in 2017 & 2018.
