Oof. Bogey, bogey finish and almost certain to miss out. Oh Padraig. Outside chance of a play-off I suppose.

Wow! Jordan Smith from Bowood got in, not so long ago he was one of the Wiltshire squad that won the Counties Championship in 2011 & 2012

JAS,
I think that's a graphical typo. Just the top 13 made it, following a five-man play-off for the -2's, Edfors and Jeev Milkha missing out. Smith definitely failed to qualify.

Whatever happened to Milka-Singh? He was super steady for about 6 years, then just disappeared like an Éclair within 6 feet of Shane Lowry.

Doh!! I see it now. I just saw his name above the qualifying line and thought wow. Thanks for pointing out I could have sounded like a right tube up our club later, a few of our low guys know him. :-/

A young Italian, just 23, called Manassero, making a nice run in Sweden. Anyone know anything about him?
Matty Fitz followed by four classic European nearly men: Warren, Colsaerts, Ilonen, Noren.

One tee-time at Troon available to be earned by Nordea's leading finisher (inside the Top Five) not otherwise qualified.
Noren & Colsaerts currently tied for that but perhaps it would be poetic justice if Karlberg overtook them after his near miss last week?
Westwood stuck in reverse.

I agree, bed wetting matty is progressing pretty well. Shame he only got 24 points for his win.
Lets hope he doesn't follow the Matteo model of young European tour winners.

hend0,
Not quite sure whether Pieters was really dq'd or w/d as initially stated. But he's out for a week or so with thumb tendinitis according to NBC's Roto and twitter.

Re: European Tour 2016 - Dubai
Didn't realise Poulter was playing this week . . . . . :
http://www.europeantour.com/europeantour/players/playerid=30541/index.html
Another strange snippet from the European Tour web-site is that Sabbatini is playing the Czech Masters in late August. He hasn't played well on the PGA Tour this season and hasn't played at all since late April. No idea if he's crocked or what. But it seems he's given up on this PGA Tour season and will have to, presumably, cash in his Top 50 career money exemption. But he's only a few $100K from earning a Top 25. Curiouser and curiouser.

Allez France:

Strong field but certainly not a blockbuster. Though a few strategic good results at Oakmont could change all that.

Now I am one of those who are in favour of the tournament having sponsor invitations. However, Mike Weir? why him? Has he supported the tournament in the past?

Another excellent start for Zander Lombard. Only 21 and just the latest promising young South African. Just think, if he was an American on the PGA Tour he could get a tee-time with Rickie Fowler (playing today with his young buddies Thomas & Smiley).

Re: European Tour 2016 - Dubai
Good win for Stenson today. I really like him off the golf course, but he is a bit drama queen on the golf course. He told media people that he would probably need another MRI on his knee after WDing from the US Open last week...then he comes back and wins the following week.
https://twitter.com/JasonSobelESPN/status/747106282969104384
Assuming Rickie Fowler does not win today, Stenson is back up to #5 in the OWGR.
Incidentally, Steve Stricker is playing the Scottish Open, so presumably, he is playing at Troon.
Also noticed that Rickie Fowler is NOT defending his win at the Scottish Open.

Thorbjorn Olesen is a strange one. Either MC's or Top 10's the past 2 years.
Nearly won last week but now sits plum last after going out in 43!!
Even when he won the Dunhill Links last year, his tee shot on 18 was so badly hooked it went into the stands at the 1st fairway!!

Scores all over the place en Paris:
Karlsson goes birdie, birdie, birdie, birdie - then double, double just to undo all the good.
Van Zyl starts double, quad.
And Dubuisson has just thrown in a TEN.
But decent round for Troy Merritt who's been in lousy form on the PGA Tour this year.

Re: European Tour 2016 - Dubai
Only two players in the Top 12 en France as the leaders are well into their rounds are not in The Open: Stone & Noren.
Which would be music to the ears of Luke Donald who will be first alternate to take advantage.
PS: Another below average week for Lukey as he makes a mess of his final few holes. No Ryder Cup for you, mate.

Rory's +2 on the front this week, -7 on the back; would think Thongchai's gonna have to slip up for Rors to challenge though.

Yep, I noticed that this morning. I tweeted to the EuroTour on Thursday about it.
Luuuuke must be rooting hard for Westy and Joost to not fall to 12th place which would let Richard Sterne into Troon.
Jaidee is playing great golf.
2nd for Sullivan would almost confirm his reservation for Hazeltine and solo 2nd would put Kaymer right on the bubble.
Fitzpatrick's spot on the team gets a little more tenuous.

Kaymer and Sullivan puked away some valuable Ryder Cup points away in their final holes.
Franky moves into a bubble spot on the team. Behind Westwood, and ahead of Lowry, Kaymer, and GMAC.

Franny certainly chose the right European tournament to put on his schedule; making a strong move back to the Top 50 also.
That's not the first time recently that Martin Kaymer's wobbled on the Round 4 back nine. Too bad.
