Frampton vs Quigg on Box Office
The worst kept secret
I will definitely buy this, but what exactly do Sky Sports customers get for the extortionate fee these days?

It is a box office fight for sure. Look at the last few ppv shows. They pale in comparison.

It was always going to be.
Cheaper than buying tickets from StubHub (who, coincidentally I'm sure, sponsor Matchroom). The ticketing fiasco was a real shame - I'd have loved to have been in Manchester for this. I bet it's bouncing.

Hearn announced 8000 went on sale to the public. I have given this a bit of thought. The MEN holds 22,000 give or take. I appreciate boxers get some, so let's say there are 10 fights and they get 100 each, which seems generous, but that accounts for 2000. Say there are 10 major sponsors and they get 100 each, again generous but so be it, that is another 1000. Lets add in another thousand for random stuff like friends of the Sky team, refs, judges etc. That is 4,000 tickets not going on general sale. That means 18,000 should be on sale. There is by my reckoning somewhere in the region of 10,000 tickets unaccounted for.
When Hearn is sponsored by a secondary ticketing website, who had seemingly limitless tickets within minutes of them going on sale you can understand why people think something stinks.

The ticket selling was a con.
I'm in Manchester for this, got a hotel before tickets went on sale so I'll try and find a pub. My friends are all Man Utd fans so hopefully they can compensate by getting tickets to the Arsenal game.

Man that's pretty bad, getting as bad as the Champions League final, filled with people who don't know anything about boxing and haven't followed these guys from the start

If you can't find a pub Dipper (walkabouts closed or I would have recommended there) try one of the casino's they normally have the fights on (although the atmosphere's not much to shout about) or check Norwegian Blue in the Printworks, probably won't have the sound on but the fight should be on

Shambles Square near the arena should be lively Dipper. Shame they couldn't have set up a fan zone somewhere with big screens (bit like they do at Wimbledon).

Not a prayer Haz, dont think they'd trust the fans to keep it civil. Just been printworks and they've opened a Walkabout in there so that'll probably have it on, you might wanna try O Sheas as well if it's still around.

Yep, they'd have to fork out for security staff (and the staff they have inside the arena are usually useless). Shame, though, for fans who wanted tickets but got StubHub'd.

Re: Frampton vs Quigg on Box Office
In all fairness the fight should have been outdoors. Obviously this is wildly impractical in the UK in February, but could and should have happened last summer. When promoters are having their little tiffs and ego trips they would do well to consider how it impacts on fans. If this is held in Old Trafford there would be a damned sight fewer disappointed fans.

I'm gutted there wasn't any real possibility of purchasing a ticket for this fight. This is the fight I wanted to attend from years back. The Matchroom/Stub Hub thing is troubling to say the least. These secondary seller sites should be shut down.

Re: Frampton vs Quigg on Box Office
Agree 100%. Getting tickets for events now, be it fights, gigs or any live performance is harder than it ever has been. It's not even a fair fight, those that sell tickets through these websites use botnet software packages which queue jump and snap up the tickets in bulk, so it isn't even a fair fight.
There are rumours AJ was given 2,000. Not sure how true this is but it is obviously way more than he needs for friends and family. That would be shameful if Hearn was giving a fighter that many so he could sell them on stubhub and screw fans out of a chance of getting them. Really hope this is not true because an already rich fighter ripping fans off and denying them the chance to attend a fight hardly sits well does it.

im away in barcelona that weekend or would have tried to get a ticket. Manchester based makes it easier because i'll hear of tickets going or worse case just nip down and try the touts.
great weekend of sport, England v ireland six nations, united v arsenal. this and im going to the nou camp to watch barcelona v seville. hope barcelona has some decent bars where i'll be able to watch at least a couple of above

What is everyone's prediction at this stage?
Tough fight, but for me I pick Frampton late KO/TKO.

Re: Frampton vs Quigg on Box Office
As said above, worst kept secret in boxing yet of all the fights mooted recently as PPV it's perhaps the only one that justifies it on paper. However, the AJ/Whyte PPV turned out to be half decent in retrospect so look for this fight to be an absolute stinker that never really takes off as their styles somehow gel horribly and Hearn gets it in the neck until June ('cos it will all be Eddie's fault)

Frampton to win, not sure about KO yet.
I had him winning clearly before his last fight, not going to let that cloud my judgement

I have him winning, but Quigg seems to have improved. It is close to 50/50. I imagine the bookies are finding it hard to split them.

Re: Frampton vs Quigg on Box Office
Quigg by early stoppage, within 4 rounds, and I'm a massive Frampton fan.
Quiggs team have really got under Frampton's skin, I think Carl only wins this fight picking Quigg off on the back foot but can see him making the mistake of going toe to toe and coming off second best in the first few rounds.

To be honest, if Quigg wins, this is the way I see it.
Quigg is a great fighter as well and I definitely respect him big time.
Still hope Frampton can out box him.

Frampo's never been afraid to take a couple of licks, which could make this interesting. Also, Quigg is the bigger man and could wear him out if he can crowd him with his work.

The fact that Frampton isn't afraid to take a punch worries me. Quigg is strong.

Here's a question - do you think Frampton(or Cyclone) made a mistake not taking the fight sooner?
Quigg seems to have really grown as a fighter over the past 12 months - pre Quigg/Kiko Frampton had the psychological edge but that looks to be with Quigg now.
The only question is, was Kiko shop worn? if so then Quigg could be over confident and in for a shock but at the current time and with home advantage I think Quigg is favourite.

Re: Frampton vs Quigg on Box Office
In a money sense, no I don't. (Providing Frampton wins)
To be honest they should of fought Quigg the minute they got the IBF title.
I see it as a clear 50/50. Obviously I still think the skills go to Frampton, but Quigg is improving and has a great engine. He is very powerful at the weight. I know Frampton is far from weak, but I think he might be surprised by how strong Quigg is.

Bingo ! That's what I thought - however I couldn't bugger did I tell anyone I actually got 4 tickets .
Hearn says the arena is going to be split 50/50 10k English 10k Irish. How's he supposed to do this ? When I bought the tickets I wasn't asked if I was a QUIGG or FRAMPTON fan. Checking the seating plan I'm sat where Frampton makes his entrance so I guess that makes me team Frampton. I like both guys to be fair however slightly pulling for Frampton just so I can see some smugness knocked out of Hearn and Gallagher.

Quigg's strength is what did for Munroe and he was huge at the weight and mightily strong himself, it's a great fight and one I can't see disappointing either way.

Seems most agree that Quigg is very strong. He has a great work ethic.
This should be a cracking fight. I'm so excited for this. If it's any way close or controversial, we will see a rematch in the summer in Belfast.

Quigg is the puncher here. Gallagher and Quigg are attempting to goad Frampton into a shoot-out but Frampton's too clever for that. He should box his way to a decision but Quigg is a real danger man here. Great value for KO win.

I know if Frampton is to win, the smart money is a decision. But I do think this fight will end in a stoppage. Quigg early, or Carl late.
I fancy the latter, but who knows? This is definitely intriguing. I might change my prediction during the weigh in. This is a much closer fight than I originally thought. Both very good fighters. I hope and expect a classic.
