6N's on ITV?
Am I missing something, just seen an advert on ITV for the 6N's; is it not on the BBC anymore?

This is news to me too! Itv recently picked up the f1 too and promised not to ruin it with adverts so let's hope they keep that promise with the six nations too.

Re: 6N's on ITV?
Speaking from the ECC experience all a shared tv deal seems to do is ruin the experience as matches all seem a little out of sync, with less continuity between games and a lack of passion about anything not covered by that media.
Not looking forward to this.
Although I'm sure the unions money men are happy

could not agree more bedford, although I have both sky and bt nothing imho matches the BBC for 6 nations coverage, ITV have no or few rugby correspondents so borrow sky,s, and did sky not cover some 6 nations games a few years ago then pulled out?

Sky had Englands games fair while back the RFU done a deal with them on their own for home games.

I despise ITV rugby coverage, it always seems glossy and vapid. But with the BBC retaining Welsh home coverage we'll still be subjected to Bulter's 'poetry', so it's all golden.

Re: 6N's on ITV?
I wasn't looking forward to ITV's coverage of the Rugby World Cup, but it was surprisingly good. The quality of pundits they lined up was infinitely superior to the BBC, though I wish they'd drop their misconception that Ian McGeechan knows anything at all about the current game in Scotland.
Geech notwithstanding, I'm a bit less suicidal at the prospect of ITV hosting 6 Nations matches, and in any case, for Scotland it'll only be 1 or max 2 per season.

I'm not too bothered wether it's the BBC or ITV that cover the 6Ns. I just don't like two companies splitting the games. One or the other please.

Re: 6N's on ITV?
I wasn't too worried originally when ITV were announced as join broadcasters of the 6Ns, but then when I saw they had a post on Facebook about Leicester Tigers beating the Ospreys at the Liberty Stadium on Friday night to go top of the Pro12 (instead of Leinster) I must admit I am just a little worried that they really do know very little about the sport.

Re: 6N's on ITV?
The first time they had the RWC I think it was 1999, they contracted a S African pundit who turned out to be a cricket international, I cannot remember his name, but it was similar to a SA rugby player

'on ITV, Mark Pougatch leads the broadcast team, and he is joined by Jonny Wilkinson, Lawrence Dallaglio and Jason Robinson - all members of England's victorious Rugby World Cup 2003 team, along with their coach Sir Clive Woodward.'
'with former Ireland captain Brian O'Driscoll, ex-Wales captain Gareth Thomas, ex-Scotland coach Sir Ian McGeechan all involved.'

They are the token Celts.
We all know the media always make it all about England, more so the 2003 WC. BBC are just as bad, I remember them doing a build up to the France V England game a year or so ago, they placed it all around the Battle of Agincourt, where they were making out the English were triumphant, if they knew anything about anything, they would have realised it was the Welsh longbow archers that won the battle, not just the English. It's no wonder other nations get their backs up when it comes to England and sport when the media behave as they do, it's a shame really as the fans are usually the one's who suffer and they are alright for the most part.

Why do they keep giving Lord Baldimort air time ? Seriously, what has he done since 2003 ?

He wrecked the Lions, god knows what he done at Southampton FC, he wrote his book "winning" and he has harped on about 2003 ever since, he is the biggest fraud in the history of rugby. Any one of us could have taken that England side and won everything, it is no coincidence that he retired after all his stalwarts did. He was not an old man after 2003, why did he not have another job coaching rugby ? If he was any good he would be still coaching now. No, it was Martin Johnson and his men that were the hero's that much is obvious now.

I going to see a doctor, Im finding myself in agreement with you
Woodwards analysis always seems to be from another time as his talk about the teams it seems to relate more to teams from the past than the current bunch

In fairness people seem to forget it was him who put the whole team together, players coaches etc. So he is due some credit.

Re: 6N's on ITV?
I suppose this means the 6N will now be subject to the delightful ITV tradition of a quick last-minute ad between the anthems and kickoff, sometimes overrunning kickoff entirely meaning TV viewers will start watching 30 seconds into the game.
Still better than giving it to Murdoch I suppose.
