London Scottish and SRU partnership
I have just read this article -
http://www.espn.co.uk/rugby/story/_/id/14546278/scottish-rugby-london-scottish-form-new-partnership
What are your general thoughts on this?
I am sure that I have heard of this possible partnership before, along with Lon Welsh possibly joining Pro-12 etc.
I am wondering how this would affect the funding that Lon Scots presumably recieve from the RFU? What would happen should they be promoted etc.

There is an interesting comment about them maintaining as a championship club.
Does this mean that there is no ambition for promotion?

I just guessing, but I think that comment is specifically relating to this season, as LS are only 4 points off the bottom. The first priority is to ensure they don't go down, then worry about trying to achieve promotion.
I might be wrong, but that's how I interpreted it.
Also, I think the general consensus is this partnership is a good move for both the SRU and LS. The SRU effectively has a 3rd pro team, which will allow some of our younger/promising players game time. Plus LS will have access to a wide range of players who they can pull upon.
In theory it sounds like a great move, hope it works out for all parties.

Re: London Scottish and SRU partnership
I could be wrong (and I do seem to remember something about a contingency plan or a move of stadium) but wouldn't LS have to play elsewhere if they did get into the AP?
If they are solvent and happy where they are might it be easier to refuse promotion if the opportunity came up rather than do a London Welsh...

Re: London Scottish and SRU partnership
LS in their present form are a million miles away from being able to play in the premiership and seeing what happened to LW should be a lesson to all aspiring clubs in the championship. LS have been badly burnt in the past as well by overstretching themselves and I am sure that they would be very cautious before doing so again.
Their first priority will be to stabilise themselves for the rest of this season. Plenty of time to consider where they want to go from there following on from that.
There is more than a good chance that the whole premiership/championship model will be redrawn over the next few years anyway. Not to mention the speculation as to what will become of the Pro 12. Interesting times.

I've heard the Battle of Stalingrad described as 'interesting'...
