We're only marginally better off under Klopp yet Louis is getting it in the neck something rotten. Still I'm sure we've used up all our luck for the season now and be dumped out of both Cups by this time next week.

Stones needs to sort himself out. He's got too into being a passing defender, but you have to be a defender first.

Everton are literally just a slightly better version of martinez's Wigan - awful defending, too much pretty passing and not enough penetrating

You ain't gonna progress anywhere, with Barry or Cleverley in the heart of your side. As for Stones & this obsession with ball playing, if he takes more than three touches now, there's unrest in the crowd & jeers. It's clearly effecting him now.

Every time I watch them too Howard is flapping around not making saves - surely they realise he's past it

Bad result for us, Olly. Newcastle need to start picking up points, sick & tired of hearing McClaren saying we're playing well, but getting 0 points.

Looking more likely it'll be down to us two for the final spot indeed - you've got the better squad but we've got the better manager imo
Hoping we bring in a couple more before the window is over

Gotta let klopp build his own team, he has been left with a terrible squad.
United rock bottom on confidence and lots of injuries - doesn't look good. If things don't pick up Id let lvg go at end of season. Leagues very poor quality and we should be challenging for the title but squad looks very far away from that.

That was inexcusable defending and it's probably cost arsenal the game. Shame that wan*er Costa had to score.

Player wise no, there's a much younger squad now there, and whilst missing a number of pieces still it's a side that should be doing better than it is.
The ingredients are there, the chef though is trying to make the wrong recipe.

Something Klopp has never done, the right players came through at Dortmund at the exact time that Bayern were through a massive rebuild themselves, his ability in the transfer market isn't great.

Are you ignoring that he signed Sven Bender, Iikay Gundogan, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Marco Reus, Hummels, Aubameyang, and Lewandowski during his time there?
They didn't exactly 'come through' did they.

Based on the above I feel confident in saying he has much more experiance in the transfer market than Rodgers! Just wonder how he will get on with the dreaded transfer committee though.. Seemed to hinder or completely stop Rodgers from signing the rare good targets he actually had..

Great win for the Swans. Needed that to got them out of the mire. Surprised the amount of flak the club took over the Guadolin hiring but I think it was a typical Huw Jenkins style appointment. I just hope they sign a striker rather than look for old boys to come back on the cheap (Borini, Sinclair) Jordan Rhodes would be my choice..

Do you actually believe that?
I've seen definite improvement under Klopp, for example at 3-1 in that Norwich game, under Rodgers (outside of 13/14) we lose that game for sure. We've got so much more drive and desire under Klopp. We've also played much better against the bigger sides than we had done.
Defensively we have been really poor, but at the same time we've not had a fully fit defence for a while.
Not to mention that we're generally a lot more exciting than Manchester United, even if we don't grind out wins, the team does want to get forward and score, rather than just pass it mindlessly sideways for 90 minutes.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
I meant that points wise I think we're about three points better off under Klopp than in the first half of the season under Rodgers. Yes, Rodgers had us playing the dreadful stuff that's blighting Utd and outside of the 1st Arsenal game there's been little zip or swagger about the side which under Klopp has become almost a thing of the past but the mistakes we're making are almost beyond comprehension both in defence and attack.Crimey wrote:DAVE667 wrote:We're only marginally better off under Klopp yet Louis is getting it in the neck something rotten. I don't buy too much into this argument that Rodgers left a poor squad for Klopp to struggle with because those same players have produced some lovely football at times. They do need to get a grip of the defence but the return of Sturridge (fingers crossed in time for Saturday) isn't going to be the panacea people seem to think it will be if the players around him aren't capable of playing the right pass at the right time.
Time and again I've been shouting at the telly "get you head up lad, there's a pass on there." only for someone to take an extra two or three touches and run into trouble. Ibe's been a culprit but so have Can and Clyne. Benteke's low on confidence as his three misses in one on one situations clearly demonstrates as does his failure to not tackle himself.
Say what you like about the result on Saturday but in that first half we were shocking

I think they don't want to have sacked two managers so quickly after Ferguson, particularly as a publically-traded company it'll probably affect their share prices more significantly than continued uninspiring performances and results under Van Gaal will.

Woodward probably feels the shadow of Gill I guess, having hired 2 duds as managers and become a punch line in the transfer market, questions must mount whether he should really be involved in the football side of things.

BBC are now saying that no such conversation took place according to Manchester United, but of course they would say that, turning down his offer to resign looks ridiculous. It'd be worse PR than if they actually sacked him.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Interesting suggestion in one article in The Guardian that if Pep Guardiola joins Manchester City, Manuel Pellegrini would then be available. Apart from the obvious links to the rivals, he would actually be a good appointment. He is a respected figure in football like Van Gaal and Ferguson, he's had Premier League success and he plays attacking, exciting football. It might not actually be a crazy move.

Could easily make the case hes a specialist in underachieving. City have made baby steps in Europe, and they probably should have more domestic success than they've had lately.

Who are there options for a successor?
Giggs, Guardiola, Simeone, Mourinho? Then, arguably, Koeman, Pocchetino. Emery? Loew? Blanc?

Squad needs a lot of work, might not be attractive to the likes of Guardiola or mourinho.
Think players need to look at themselves, lvg hasn't done a great job but they should be able to have a shot now and then and maybe score a goal in the first half occassionally.
