Not a huge fan of Liverpool, but i feel Klopp needs to be judged after the Summer. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to see this is nowhere near the side he wants. He'll be promised a lot of cash to strengthen and there will be a fair few heading for the exit door.
I do wonder though, how well Brendan would've fared with this squad.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Whilst Klopp knows his best starting 11, they've never been fit at the same time so there's no telling what they'd produce. However, I still struggle with the team that capitulated so horribly at the weekend and at West Ham and Watford with the one that ran riot against Southampton, Chelsea and Man City. They clearly have those good performances in them but for whatever reason, they just keep shooting themselves in the foot.
Hopefully the return of Coutinho and Sturridge will add some much needed firepower but again defensively we are utterly shambolic and even with Suarez in the side, we'd most likely **** it up.
FSG must be prepared to support Klopp in the transfer market and it's to be hoped he brings in some genuine quality not just someone who's seen as good because he cost a fortune.

Mignolet has to go, but I just can't see it. I can't believe he's been given a new contract, it's absolute madness. His contract wasn't running down, nobody will want to pay a significant sum to get him but he's not good enough and needs to leave, but now he's on too much to be a back up.
I think this summer only Clyne can feel safe at staying at the club from the defence. For me Sakho has shown time and time again that he's probably the worst centre back at the club. He's big but has no strength constantly losing out to smaller players, he seems to fall over 2-3 times a game. He's not particularly good at passing, heading or tackling. I have no idea if he does have anything good. Lovren is not good enough either. Genuinely Kolo Toure has been the best performing centre back this year for Liverpool, which is madness.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
A five year contract for that clown is unbelievable. So he's kept a fair few clean sheets but dear God when he's let them in he's gone crazy and with a fair few howlers to boot.
Should be called Simon Howmanyareyoulettingintoday.
For all the stats backing up Sakho's passing and interception rates my ar$ehole puckers every time the ball goes near him. Moreno seems to be intent on committing professional suicide by lunging into tackles that even Lucas thinks are reckless. Up front, we do seem to be adding a few more goals to compliment some of the good build-up work but if we can't stop gifting games to the opposition it means nothing in the end.

He's got one of the very worst shot on target to save ratios of goalkeepers in the Premier League, which seems to suggest the clean sheets were coming from the players in front of him.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
No matter how muck Klopp spends on defenders it's all going to be undone by a keeper who has been in situ for a few years now with no sign of improvement

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Mignolet needs to go. End of story. Costs us an insane amount of points with his poor displays/mistakes. Sahko will have the odd game where I think "where has this guy been hiding", but those are few and far between. No consistency at all.
The premier league campaign is effectively over for us. Won't trouble the top 5, to inconsistent, to many passangers and not enough fight in the team. Major overhaul needed in the summer, and I would expect to see many 'first team players' leaving- Mignolet, Lovren, Moreno, Lallana, Benteke (not stictly first team but a hefty price tag). Then people like Ballotelli, Bogdan, Toure, enrique will all likely leave too.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
You could come calling for Tim Krul this summer, will be 28 & Ashley was already toying with the idea of selling him to AC Milan previously, to make some profit. Given Rob Eliott's performances & popularity at the club now, I don't see Krul getting back into the side & we have Darlow too.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
I doubt we will be buying a new keeper, certainly not a first choice one anyway. Mignolet will be on too high wages to be a back up and he's not going to get anywhere near a decent transfer fee.
Some data people worked out that he has cost Liverpool 15 points this season already.

I genuinely thought it would be more. However 15 points is insane. Good keeper will win you about 20 points a season so obviously a bad one will lose about the same....

Coupled with losing Sturridge we're talking 30 points a season lost

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Obviously not quite as simple as saying without mignolet and with sturridge we would be 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc, but it is clear that we would be in a much better position in the league!

He'll probably end up with a suspended sentence and having to sign a register.
Standard media outcry, Sunderland sack him, he keeps his head down, comes back to the Premier League in a year or two.
You know, the usual.

Depends what he pleads guilt too, I guess. If he's saying "I did it, but I didn't know" or hes saying "all intent was there" then it will be very different.
I'd think he'll have to drop a level or two though.

He's pleaded guilty to grooming, personally he should get the same treatment as Evans got.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
"Johnson is accused of grooming the teenager between 30 December 2014 and 26 February 2015 and having met with her to carry out sexual activity knowing that she was under 16, the age of consent. Standing in the dock, Johnson answered “guilty”.
In a second count, Johnson is charged with intentionally touching the complainant in a sexual way knowing that she was under 16. He briefly consulted his legal team before answering “guilty, yeah”."
But he has denied two other charges. And I think this is a little different to what Ched Evans did, so I doubt he'll even get a custodial sentence (unless he's found guilty on the two charges which he has denied).

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
I suppose it will be based on the levels involved in the crime.
What a mug though. I don't think he's your absolutely diabolical type but he thought himself above the law. I'd say it's not as bad as Evans but I'm not in the law system and I don't know what I feel about it. Knowing she was and doing it once is a mistake, again and again is different.

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
Sounds like he's pleaded to touching but gone "not guilty" on full sex in the hope the jury will see him as a bloke who knows he's done something stupid but stopped before things have gone waaaaaay too far (which I'd suggest they did when he started texting a schoolgirl when there was a perfectly lovely lady of legal age at home waiting for him)

well done to the fans, seems ludicrous to be fair that a massive tv deal is coming in next season yet there still putting the prices up. £77 for liverpool (a large working class area) is a rip off. london bases clubs not as bad as the living wage is higher but the sooner clubs adopt a more german attitude to the fans the better. i'll wait with bated breath

Re: We Go Again! The Premier League thread
I think it's good to see them back down. After Hicks and Gillet I appreciate FSG and think they've generally been good owners, particularly actually doing something regarding the stadium situation. I understood why the prices were raised they were, supply and demand, but it wasn't a very thought out move. Reports were that they were very very shocked at the level of outrage from the fans and didn't expect it at all.
Better that they accept they were wrong and apologise than dig their heels in and try and stick to the prices, which economically do make some sense.

They backed the PL clubs plan with signatures, this is just facesaving.
Anyway, Olly be happy with Liverpool. No Reid, Kouyate, Tomkins, O'Brien on top of missing Sakho, and Lanzini anyway. Plus most played 120 mins. Little unsure how we survive with anything more than a limp defeat.

Shows what a load of old crap statisitics are really, the team least able to keep possession are 5 points clear at the top of the table.

Not sure it shows that statistics are crap at all. The fact they have that amount of possession is a statistic that shows how they play.

exactly. they are the most effective side in the most important thirds of the pitch, clinical at one end & tight at the other. rather have a side like that, than a side dominating the middle third, passing from side-to-side & in the process, achieving very little, other than wasting time.

Sunderland starting XI: Mannone, Yedlin, O’Shea, Kone, van Aanholt, Kirchhoff, Cattermole, M’Vila, Khazri, N’Doye, Defoe
Man Utd starting XI: De Gea, Darmian, Smalling, Blind, Borthwick-Jackson, Schneiderlin, Carrick, Lingard, Mata, Martial, Rooney
Looks like just about our strongest possible eleven, fully expect Martial to give Yedlin a torrid time who may be quick but is out of position time and time again.
