Wasps light need to grow some
Too many mistakes......Daly not showing the necessary maturity.....Smith's just taken 10 minutes....8 nothing to the money men on 28 minutes.

Toulon getting away with murder - reckon they could behead someone and not be penalised for foul play.

8-3 at the half
I think I heard right in that Wasps will now be playing with the wind?

Quite - despite Nigel supposedly being such a great ref - difficult to see how all the officials missed the high tackle on Tagi ...LondonTiger wrote:Toulon getting away with murder - reckon they could behead someone and not be penalised for foul play.
Also I hate the French coverage - camera angles either on top of the players or from a passing satellite ...

Daly needs to forget this kicking thing and practice passing the ball under pressure

Daly try has given Wasps the lead with less than 10 minutes remaining.

8 minutes for Wasps to hold an 8-11 lead. A big ask.

Toulon score with the clock in the red for the win.

That's bad luck wasps, but a really gutsy performance.
It won't be much comfort right now, but that losing BP could be vital.

That is why Simpson is not in the EPS, that decision to kick with 90 secs to go was unforgivable, more unforgivable than kicking it straight out.
Ludicrous decision making.

Re: Wasps light need to grow some
So Toulon 16 Waspsb15, Toulon away to Bath, Wasps home to Leinster next week. Toulon have only scored 77 pts in 5 matches and not got a single BP - as long as Bath aren't the rabble they were v Leinster then the could and should win. Wasps at home should beat Leinster but maybe not the foregone conclusion it might have seemed a few weeks ago given Leinsters recent imorovement. Don't care as long as Miurad joins Craig in the millionaire losers club, and Ulster get 5pts v Oyonnax next week and a place in the QF

I don't think 18 points is going to be enough for best runner up the way things are going!

Wasps can consider themselves unlucky not to have been given a penalty and Toulon YC for that high tackle on Tagi ...

Hard luck Wasps. Gutting loss after so much hard work and heart shown.
Thought they could be unhappy with how the game was reffed against them, and a key knock on by the Toulon 9 missed at about 80 mins.

Yea gutting that no one noticed that somehow.

Two massive misses by the great Nigel Owens ... I know he lets the game flow but that's no excuse for missing these things

Wether or not you like the team, you have to admire Toulon attitude and composure that lead to that final try. Not something you would find in Clermont !

I noticed it Yappysnap, shouted so loud my wife just about jumped out of her skin, unfortunately Owens was either too far away of is deaf, I am pretty confident the whole of my street heard it.

Re: Wasps light need to grow some
I like Joe Simpson as a player, but it really was a shocking decision to kick possession away with a minute and a half left. Worse than that was was even risking the ball going out on the full by kicking for the line. If he was going to kick he should have hoofed it as far as he could and make Toulon score from deep. Toulon needed a try so keeping the ball close and going through a few phases was obviously the percentage play because even risking a penalty would have better that just gifting the possession. A draw would have kept Wasps in pole position and almost guaranteed them winning the group.
If Wasps aspire to European greatness they are going to have to get a lot smarter.

To be fair it still worked except for Nigel's unfortunate blind moment

Re: Wasps light need to grow some
Actually I think you could argue that Nigel kept Wasps in the game and perhaps this saturday they won't be so fortunate. That said it will interesting to see what sort a side Leinster field?
However, regardless of the opposition I can't see Wasps winning unless Hughes and Launchbury start and their backline resembles some normality.

I could not. His decison making favoured Toulon throughout, and he allowed the crowd to dictate when he used the TMO.

Re: Wasps light need to grow some
Nigel's relaxed take on reffing a game is enjoyable to watch when you're a neutral watching two pretty evenly matched teams play.
When the teams are unevenly matched, his lax approach to the breakdown just makes one teams already tough job even harder.

Re: Wasps light need to grow some
I'm not sure I agree with the former. Not blowing up or reffing the breakdown can slow the game down and make it a mess. It also confuses players. The number of times Nige shouts, "leave it", "let go seven", "it's a ruck", "no, let go", "OK, turnover good" is just plain odd.
