I think GSC nailed it. They have buried so much money in Brees they haven't invested anywhere else. They also seem to destroy players. Look at Byrd - 3 prod bowls in Buffalo and in 2 seasons in NO he's a shadow. Rebuild the stadium, rebuild the team and probably rebuild the coaching staff.

It's not just Brees. The Saints for years have operated like they're one piece away from contention, and like the Byrd signing have borrowed from their future resources to sign him now. Whereas in reality they're one piece away from mediocrity. They haven't evaluated their roster properly.

Brees and Payton have had the greatest run in franchise history by a country mile, but it's beyond stale now. They badly need a fresh direction.

Byron Maxwell benched, Chip being blown out, Wentz winning rookie of the month, his 100m DT winning defender of the month (NFC).

Howie's hitting the town later.

Well the Browns are likely to be without Gordon for a while, as he just checked himself into in patient rehab. Does every deity on the planet hate Cleveland?

I like Ricardo Louis in the draft. It will be interesting to see how he goes with Corey Coleman out injured for a few weeks too.

I also liked Robby Anderson in preseason amd he has looked better than Jalin Marshall for the Jets last week.

Would like to see Paul Perkins get a chance at RB for the Giants.

Anybody at Wembley for the Jaguars vs Colts game? I'm going to the Giants vs Rams at Twickenham.

Can't argue with Carson Wentz being ROTY so far. He has looked much better that I expected. At least other rookies are standing out. From the media it looked like Eze Elliott had already wrapped up the OROTY award.

It amazes me that Chuck Pagano and Ryan Grigson both got extensions.

This is one of the most talent poor and poorly coached teams in the league.

Maybe there was an element of bias, because I was in the stadium, but I enjoyed the game overall. Though it was clearly not of the highest caliber it was good fun really.

In similar kind of "In stadium bias", I was impressed with the way TJ Yeldon ran, yet in the stats it doesn't look that great.

Seems something happened at half time because it seems like a different defense in the 2nd. Norman finally earning his money.

On the whole though, I agree that I can't see Barry having a long future here. He should have been campaigning for more beef on the line instead of yet another wide receiver (Doctson better come good soon or everyone will say it was a bad pick), and developing the secondary around a FS who could ball (I don't have anything against D-Hall, but if he's the best we could do at FS I'm a monkeys uncle). He's brought nothing innovative to the D, not identified great talent to bolster a weak unit and either called some bonehead plays or made a bad job of coaching those plays. I give him to mid season until calls for him to go actually start getting listened to.

Well, I've never seen that before.... 'Skins pinned inside their own 5 yard line.... Kirk Cousins throwing from his end zone gets picked off at the Redskins 13 yard line (of course) by CJ Mosley..... Mosley fumbles the return out of the endzone for a Redskins touchback! Result of the Ravens INT was a 16 yard Redskins gain!

How the Redskins won that game I'll never know. That was the definition of an ugly win.

Cousins and the rest of the offense were awful... but particularly Cousins. He's losing $1m off that $20m a year contract demand every time he takes to field at the moment.

Defense played well though..... who knew???

Similar has been done before. TO of a TO gives initial team better field position. It's not as unusual as you'd think.

Right now I think the Skins are just riding their luck. Commentators are saying the D played better today, but we were outgained and nearly beaten late in the 4th? Hard to win games with a -ve yardage AND TO ratio, but somehow we did. I'm confused how we've managed to get to 3-2. Highly unlikely, but if the Cowboys lose today and then we beat Philly next week, we could be in 1st place in the East! Crazy.

Yeah, suppose I meant I've just never seen the Redskins being on the positive end of such a play.... it's usually us on the receiving end of that kind of lucky play. We definitely dodged a major bullet on that one... instead of a certain Baltimore TD and a 17-13 lead for them, we took the ball up the field and scored a FG for a 16-10 lead.

We've not had a game yet where all 3 phases of the team have clicked and yet somehow we're 3-2 with 2 road wins in the last 3 weeks and are in the mix.

Now, if Cousins could just sort himself out....

Ah in that context we can agree!

Cousins isn't playing awful from what I can see. As far as I can see, I'd the play calling is conservative on offense and experimental on D. I think Barry is trying to find ways to compensate for the weak middle (no NT can do that!) and is run blitzing. The risk of that as is apparent, is if the blitz misses, then we suffer big gains. I find it hard to believe we can't find a decent run stuffing DT ANYWHERE. Is Knighton really that bad now?
