Defence took a half to show up. Allowed 3 long drives in the first half, pitched a shutout after half until Mathews fumbled. Poor throw and read by Wentz on the pick, first time all year he's made a really bad read. Shame too because he was fantastic before that and should've iced the game on a 3rd down throw before Mathews fumbled.

Ravens have fired Marc Trestman as their OC. Marty Mornhinweg doesn't seem like a massive upgrade, but who knows.

Yeah, that pick cost me the win in the East this week. Plus not playing Tyrell Williams. That may have had something to do with it...
Eagles still look hot though, while it's a bit messy in the NFC East, at this point its hard to argue it's not a 3 horse race with the Cowboys and Skins. Right now I have to say Dallas will edge it, and I think the Skins will find the recovery to 3-2 is short lived, but it would be great to see 3 NFC teams make the playoffs again. Hasn't happened in a while. At least the Giants suck - I used to hate the Pokes more, but since sulky Manning won the SB again, they just get my back up.
Whoever does win the East will stand a good chance in the playoffs. The Packers are still a little erratic and while Atlanta and Minnesota are getting it done, I have a feeling they will falter when the playoffs roll around.
Anyone think that if Prescott keeps wining, they'll bench him for Romo? I think Romo may have taken his last snap as a Cowboy...

Jerry says otherwise.
I'm not worried yet. Mildly irritated but not worried. If we lose to the Skins I will be worried, they've needed some breaks to get past 3 bad teams. Must have before we enter the hard stretch.
Gonna hold off on Dallas for now. The hype machine is going into overload.

Is he the better QB? Prescott's certainly not as fragile and turnover prone as Romo. Yes they have played some 'easy' teams (and the Skins should have won their game), but he hasn't made any glaring mistakes. IN football you play the hot hand. Mess with a winning chemistry and you're liable for the sack.
FWIW Brett Favre agrees.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Since when was not making glaring mistakes "the hot hand"? The winning chemistry at the moment is controlling the ball and clock on the ground, and not giving up explosive plays on their defence and basically winning fairly close games (and yes, they've had a ridiculously easy schedule so far too). Prescott obviously has potential, and is playing well - but he's nowhere near the level of a fit Tony Romo

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Been a while though since we've seen a fit Tony Romo... will he ever be fully fit again???
Even if he makes it back on the field he will always just be one decent hit away from another broken bone somewhere in his body.
I do agree though, if the 2016 post-umpteenth injury Romo is the same Romo as 6 or 7 years ago, then you play him once he's ready to take the field.

Few ballers want to hang up their boots before they have to, but the toll on the body never goes away, it only gets worse. He is one critical injury away from forced retirement, and he must have that at the back of his mind after the last few seasons. Subconsciously he's going to start getting wary of hits and that's going to affect his play. Maybe he has a good season or two left in him, but are Dallas really going to be in a position to deliver the SB that's always eluded him?

That's exactly how dumb plays can turn a game. Stupid PF on the celebration and dumb to throw off back foot in that situation. BUT the Skins O has otherwise played pretty damn good including Cousins, and it looks like the D has finally shown up. Let's see if we can shut down the Eagles run game, as the pass rush may cause Wentz to throw his first pick.

So answer me this.... Alfred Morris is allowed to mimic swinging a baseball bat and hitting a home run after scoring a TD.... Blake Bortles is allowed to punt the ball into the stand after scoring a TD.... why then is Vernon Davis flagged for "excessive celebration" for mimicking a fadeaway jump shot after scoring a TD??

Because he used the ball as a prop in the celebration. I'd argue Bortles should be penalised too, but Morris just did something that's no worse that an endzone dance. I miss the good old days where, aside from taunting, any old celebration was OK.

Defence has abandoned all discipline during the bye, clearly trying to kill the Schwartz HC hype train.
Offense is more what was expected. The WRs are awful, the RBs uninspiring and without Lane it's a sub par OL. Suspect the rest of the season will be praying Wentz doesn't take another shot to the ribs.

To be fair, if there was a time you'd expect him to throw a pick it was under that pressure, but he made a few really good throws. I'd agree your WR's aren't that great, but protection like that they would have to be outstanding!

So after weeks of overcoming mistakes and finding ways to win, the Redskins finally lose. Shoulda won it - dominated time of possession, first downs and total yards.... but fumbling at the goal line and then again in fieldgoal range was too much to overcome in the end. A team that still as flawed as the Redskins is going to be playing too many close games to be able to overcome these turnovers every week.

Same with Mariota (who fumbles all the time). Both need to tighten up, but I wouldn't be hugely worried yet. If they're still doing it at a similar rate in years 3/4 then its a real problem
