Nothing is worse than the Browns. 49ers have gone through 2 QB's (who have no receivers to speak of) and they have dismantled their D. The Browns are beating themselves!

You can make the case the Browns shouldve beaten the Ravens and Dolphins and were on the verge of a 2 score lead vs the Skins. Don't think the 49ers have been competitive since week 1.

Would you look at that. He did ok in the end. One turnover in the last two games.

What's worse, a team you know is going to lose or a team that you think have a chance but always blow it. You can build on the first, but I'm not sure what direction you can take with the Browns. The 49ers came into the season with everyone knowing they had no talent and they have met expectations. The Browns were supposed to be better having gotten a 'legitimate NFL QB' and building a solid D to give their O time to find it's feet. Their D couldn't put out a fire in a rainstorm and they've managed to chew their way through 6 QB's so far.

Did people think the Browns were going to win? Has seemed fairly obvious that they are hoarding as many draft picks as possible for a massive rebuild to me. They've almost accidentally won a few games.

Great in principle except the Browns couldn't draft a quality player if they tried. They seem incapable of reading character and true pro quality. I can't understand how a GM can be that bad at his job and still keep it!

Redskins continuing the trend they've been following all season where they run up and down the field racking up yards but wasting opportunities to score and then falling behind.

Bengals defense has to be the dirtiest unit in the league. They've had some filthy plays today. How that hit to the head on Jackson by Iloka after that completion isn't a personal foul I'll never know.

Another filthy, filthy play be the Bengals defense on the Crowder TD. I think that's the worst face mask I've ever seen - he nearly took Crowder's head off!!!

Well done refs... you've done a great job spotting all the ticky tacky penalties but somehow are missing the violent ones right in front of your faces. It's a joke.

Yeah, I'm sorry GSC, you're right.... when the refs were ignoring the the helmet to helmet hit by Iloka on Jackson and the face mask on Crowder that turned his head around 180 degrees when he scored his TD, you're absolutely right to say that the five times they penalised Norman for erroneous hand placement on the person of AJ Green wasn't enough.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
No it didn't. It should have been.... but it wasn't called so nothing applied to the ensuing kick off. I mean the guy is only crossing the goal line and in the process of scoring a TD and there are only him and the defender in question out there so it's totally understandable that the officials could miss it....

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
No he wasn't. Although, if you class the 40 yard catch that Green burned him for where Norman literally was hanging all over him as "all day", then yes, he was. Otherwise, he was physical, and in the view of the refs, crossed the line several times, but hanging off him all day? Nah.
I get it though, he's the highest paid CB in the league and isn't shy about talking himself up so people will always be quick to talk him down. I would dislike him too if he wasn't on my team.

The penalties were largely 50-50 through most of the game but what I actually noted were a number of occasions where the Bengals were blatantly holding and not called, particularly their receivers. Norman was frequently hand fighting with Green, but there were times Green was pushing off, so give some take some. But the call that really go my goat was the PI on Garcon near the end. Even the commentators were bemused by that one. It killed a potential game winning drive.
There's articles out there and I agree with them. The officials are making some bad calls across the league and the NFL needs to address it. Nobody wants to see a game decided by officials.

The OPI call on Garçon was a joke. I do like where the Redskins are headed at the moment. We're still a flawed team in many ways but there's a lot to like too. I doubt very much we will make the playoffs this season but that's ok as long as we're seeing progress and I think we are. The point is though, that for a flawed team that will be fighting it out in a lot of close games, these calls by the refs are huge and season defining. They need to get them right and too often these days it seems that they aren't.

Another in a long line of frustrating losses. Badly in need of better receivers, the offense is DoA with these guys on anything longer than 15.

Yeah, I didn't watch the game (was still in too much of a bad mood after the Redskins game) but Wentz's 4.7 yards per pass attempt is a really gory stat and one that I'm sure says more about either the WRs ability to get open or the playcalling than it does about him.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
Since Lane got suspended and Kerrigan went to town on the 5th rounder we plugged in they've compensated by taking out most of the longer developing plays and got the ball out of Wentzs hands. No sacks against the Vikings front but a bunch of short stuff when Wentz settled down.
But even when there is time there's nobody winning downfield.

Guessing Collins was asking for money that the Pats weren't paying.
You lose half a season from Collins to control where he goes (and get the third round comp pick a year earlier)... Hmm, not sure about that.

It's not a conditional pick, it's a compensatory pick. It's basically like getting their normal 4th rounder.Good Golly I'm Olly wrote:I preferred life two hours ago when the Pats hadn't traded their best defensive player for a conditional third round pick

NFL.com would beg to differ - stated as a 3rd round conditional.

Seems like JDizzle is right in that Collins wanted "Von Miller" money and basically the Pats prefer Hightower (I don't buy all this he didn't take to coaching stuff)
Don't think it hurts us much now - will still make the AFC title game (barring you know injuries to Gronk/Brady) but hurts us in these big games
Suppose controlling where he goes is quite a big factor too - will essentially become not relevant in Cleveland

It's conditional and compensatory, comp 3rd in 2017 or 4th in 2018, presumably the Browns need him under contract for the 3rd.
At least they got something for Chandler Jones.

I'm just trying to make some sense of it
I personally hate it - keep him for the year and let him walk in free agency is better than getting the comp pick a year early (the Pats will get Cleveland's 3rd round comp pick they are getting for Alex Mack unless he gets hurt basically)
