There are NFL teams starting Bryce Petty, Cody Kessler, Brock Osweiler and Case Keenum.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
I didn't day nobody will do it, I just said there are few teams that will consider him. Jets have Fitz as incumbent veteran and want toe see what Hackenburg can do when he's ready. Browns went after RGIII because they want youth, so I can't see them turning to Romo, and he likely wouldn't consider joining them anyway. Texans are also unlikely to turn to a frail vet like Romo - they got little out of Schaub and he was younger. Rams have moved on to Goff now. so why look at Romo?
I agree with the NFL.com article - he's most likely to end up somewhere like the Bears or Broncos as a fill in until their current/to be drafted rookies are ready.

I'm not comparing them as QB's only situations. Texans want to find a franchise QB, and Romo isn't that. He'll go to a team that are rebuilding and/or already have a rookie in place that they don't want to break, hence the Bears or Bronco's look most likely.

Hate to say it, but the Cowboys could be the team to beat. If the Skins lose to them Thursday (boy does that look like a shootout right now), then I reckon they are all but nailed on for the East, and could be looking at HFA. Seattle are good, but they can be beaten and I'd say going against the Cowboys at home in the playoffs will not be easy.

Seattle, much like NE in the AFC, are always the team to beat in that conference.

Someone commented on here a week or so ago that you are what your record says you are... on that basis, Dallas are currently the best team, not just in the NFC, but in the NFL.

Over the entire season sure, Seattle had a slow start with Wilsons injuries exposing the OL. Right now I'd happily play Dallas again over Seattle.

I thought about commenting on that at the time
I think it's a load of crap. Houston and Atlanta are both 6-4. Record says they're the same. Atlanta is a better team by miles, and has had a much tougher schedule. Too many factors to take into account to just go off records

And in the least surprising news of the year... the Cardinals admit that Robert Nkemdiche is a bust. I'm pretty certain 31 other teams told them that back in April.

Redskins' red zone woes didn't go away for long.... 2 possessions... 2 trips to the red zone.... 3 points.
That's a recipe for losing.

Their defense is soft though and that will ultimately be their downfall.... Redskins on pace here for almost 500 yards of offense... it unfortunatley, only 12 points!!

Would be nice of our defense woke up here.
Oh, and I think the decision to just stay away from the red zone and throw it long was a good one.

Oh well, we gave a decent account of ourselves. We know our defense isn't good so no surprise that Dallas have scored 30+ on us. Disappointed with the offense's early game red zone struggles but it certainly fired up in the 2nd half.
Dallas' defense is not good. If someone figures out a way to shut that running game down then they will be beaten.

Well you couldn't score in the red zone, missed two field goals and gruden with the most ridiculous onside kick call cost you that game.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
OK, I'm going to get some stick, but I agree with the O/S kick call. At that stage Gruden knew we needed another scoring possession to make up for the missed 7 points. He also knew our D wasn't achieving anything against the Cowboys run game. He was right, it just wasn't executed. Hopkins was a good kicker last year, but this season he's too erratic and he's going to face competition in camp - both O/S kicks looked like they hadn't been practiced.
McLoughan, Snyder and Gruden all know where the issues lie, which is why they stacked the offensive roster (really hoping Doctson isn't a bust). They have to go D in this draft and have to pick up a top DT, 2 MLB's and hopefully 2 new S's. Build a D to go with that O, and we'll stand toe to toe wit anyone in the NFC. Last night showed all the flaws, but it also showed where we are strong and I don't think anyone looks forward to playing the Skins O now.
And I still stand by my earlier comment - Dallas are the best team in the NFC. Their D may not get them a SB win, but their O can run on anyone and barring 2 unlikely loses in the next few weeks, they will own HFA. Going into AT&T in the playoffs is not going to be a walk in the park.

Re: Ongoing NFL Discussion Thread V
I still don't like the 1st onside kick call... we had momentum and there were 9 mins left. At some point in the last 9 mins, our defense was going to have to make a stand, however unlikely that was, they were still going to have to find a way to do it. It might as well have been at that point when the momentum and emotion of the game was with us following Jackson's long TD.
Re Seattle V Dallas and who's the best... of course it's Seattle... but not by a distance. Dallas has the better offense, while Seattle has the better defense.... it's just that Seattle's offense is better than Dallas' defense.... so overall Seattle > Dallas!

Another piece of unwanted history for the Redskins... last night was just the 4th time since 1940 that a team had over 500 total yards of offense and no turnovers and lost the game.

Dez Bryant truly is an idiot
He reckons he has dominated Josh Norman and that the Redskins should get their money back.
His career stats matched up against Norman? 4 catches on 12 targets for 38 yards and 0 TDs.
Shut up Dez

Who listens to Dez Bryant except Cowboys fans?
Re O/S KO, I get the idea we had momentum, but we didn't. We were trading scoring drive for scoring drive, and we needed an extra possession to win, which was proven a the end. In any case, if a coach goes for it like that, he has to expect his D to step up and at least hold them to a FG. They were porous as hell all night and I don't think either O/S KO really put us in a worse position. That said, If Hopkins had made at least 1, and preferably both FG's, we'd have kicked instead of the 2 pointer and wouldn't have needed the O/S KO.
In other news, without Andrew Luck the Colts really are dire. Another team in need of a defense.

What a game from our D. The lin was fantastic, Noah Spence has a huge future. Also, Alterraun Verner, after being garbage pretty much since he arrived in Tampa, makes a huge interception two days after the death of his father.
Also, Mike Evans > Richard Sherman.

So it is looking like the Patriots, Ravens, Texans and Raiders in the AFC plus two of the Dolphins, Chiefs and Broncos.
In the NFC the Cowboys and Giants look good, the NFC North is still wide open though the Lions seems to have some momentum. The Falcons and Seahawks should win their divisions and that leaves the Redskins, Vikings, Packers and Buccaneers for the other playoff spot.

Gronk suffered a herniated disk against Seattle. New England's medical staff failed to diagnose this, and he played against the Jets.
Gronk now has to have back surgery, putting him out of the season likely, thus ending any hopes of NE winning the super bowl.
New England's medical staff should be fired on the spot

This was after 50 games in charge. Spagnuolo and Marinelli lasted 48, Bell lasted 58 (somewhat helped by being an owner too); Bradley is on 59 now. He has a .237 winning percentage; current worst with at least 60 games is David Shula (Bengals '92-'96) at .268; nobody else is below .300.Lowlandbrit wrote:Full list of coaches that were in charge for at least 40 games and have a worse win% than Gus Bradley: Steve Spagnuolo, Rod Marinelli, Bert Bell (Eagles 1936-41).
Jeff Fisher is currently at .515, he's also just 2 losses away from joining Dan Reeves as the HC with the most of all time.

We don't have a defense. Period.
Aside from a couple of good (possibly great) players, we have a lot of 2nd raters/journeymen. Need to draft D almost exclusively this offseason.
Skins are what we thought they were, a wildcard team at best.
