Re: AO 2016 - Day 11
Are you seeing that
Djokovic won 33% of second service points in set 3, Federer 79%??
Djokovic really pressed well on Federer's serve, hitting hard and deep.
He plays better against Federer not just because of the match up I think, but because he knows he has to.
Against other players he knows he can give mid court cr-p and still win.

You can forget about it getting interesting though, the result is still not in much doubt. Djokovic wins 9 times out of 10 from here.
I'd agree with that. I'd still take Novak to win from here. The roof closing as the rain moves in.

This is the first time I have seen Federer talking to his box and asking for guidance. Ljubicic needs to stop his hand signaling.

Re: AO 2016 - Day 11
Anyone know the stats on Fed's first serve that set? Felt like 50 per cent, so Fed won that set with half second serves against the best returner ever if that's the case? Pretty impressive

LF, give the old man some slack, Djoko all the time looks to his box and is No1.

Re: AO 2016 - Day 11
Djokovic has been absolutely brilliant but I agree with those saying Federer needs to serve better (although even when Federer is hitting the corners Novak is returning with interest).
Regardless, I don't think anyone else on the tour could have dug in and taken a set from Novak in this form. Great fight from Roger.

So are the first 2 sets worth watching for Djokovic awesomeness? Or was it more just a ton of Federrors?

Watch it for Djokovic's awesomeness - if you are a tennis fan you can't help but admire that play.

Re: AO 2016 - Day 11
how long do they need to close the roof? I might get a shower. On wait, not like Wimbledon, looks like they are going to start in 5 minutes.
So, does this play into Federer's hands a bit. Indoor conditions?

What about all that cr-p at Wimbledon about needing 20 mins to get the aircon going? Must be miles hotter in Oz?

A 17/18-year Borg mauling Laver, and that video used to sum my mental state.

I think it's got to do with the fact that grass is a living surface and when there is no sunlight it starts to produce moisture.

Shame Konta lost, by the way. Just the Murrays left flying the flag.

The roof was already half closed. It took about 8 minutes in the Ferrer v Murray match.

Anyone else notice Federer goes through spells where his return is dreadful? 2nd serves dumped into the net so casually

Feel Novak could run away with this set at any moment if Fed doesn't serve well

Re: AO 2016 - Day 11
The set feels inn the balance to me. 60/40 Djokovic maybe - I think the bigger problem for Fed is even if he does get from here to 5-5 in the fifth he'll likely still lose it from there.

Re: AO 2016 - Day 11
Djok looking slightly stronger on serve - Fed a bit harder to hold? I guess either 6-3 or 7-6 (7-2) to Djokovic for this set.

Federer didn't get the early break, and Djokovic arises from the mini-slumber.
Surely that's it?

4th set quality a bit more variable from the third. that serve was way too weak to go to the net on break point (in the previous game).
