Re: AO 2016 - Day 13
Kerber is very hard-working. The way she took out Azarenka, it was very very well done.
Williams is a different kettle of fish, but the Kerber coaching staff should have done enough analysis to help Kerber.

I like Greg getting his asterix marker out when discussing the h2h.

Still don't understand why flight attendants stand by the entrance on to court!

One of them even had the gall to ask a certain Old Man to sign a cap, and ignore the latest GOAT, based on ELO rankings.

Re: AO 2016 - Day 13
A sluggish start by Serena in the first set...nerves resulting in no foot movement.
But she's finding her range in the second, as Kerber's serving gremlins make a reappearance...4-1 in the second.

Kerber wins 8 of the first 9 points of the third. Playing stunning tennis. Has Serena got the overdrive gear today?

Wonderful win for Kerber. Barely made an error in the 3rd set. Superb match. Serena slightly off her top level but would still have beaten anyone else today.

What a match, and what a win for Kerber. Fully deserved, she played superbly throughout
Lovely reaction from Williams at the end there too, she's really mellowed in her later years
The wait for n°22 goes on though...
Great match, an early contender for match of the year? Congrats to both

Well done Kerber
And it was nice that Williams was so gracious in defeat - she hasn't always been in the past ; but I commend her for tonight , in the aftermath of what must have been a big disappointment. Well spoken !

You just feel Murray/Soares are building up a bit of pressure on the veteran duo of Nestor and Stepanek. They look more likely to break than vice versa.

And Team Murray and Soares wrap up the title. Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares first slam titles to them. Well done.

Jamie up to number 2 in the world I think. Good run up to the French could see him reach the top.

Re: AO 2016 - Day 13
Fantastic win by Kerber but Serena, to me, didn't look to be hitting the ball with her usual authority. Just shows that sometimes you need a tough workout BEFORE the final in a Slam (think merely of Wms struggle against Heather Watson at Wimbledon last year).
Well that's the Grand Slam over for Williams this year. Let's face it, if she wasn't going to do it last year having reached the semi of the US Open with only a couple of middle-ranked Italians to stop her, when was she going to do it?
Very gracious by Serena at the end. Praps relieved the pressure is off ?

Re: AO 2016 - Day 13
Well done to Murray/Soares. Didn't think they would do it in the first set. Soares has a poor set, double faults, getting his serve broken, missing at key points. However, improved thereafter.
Quite a tense finish with Jamie Murray hitting a double fault and being 0-30 down before getting to match point and hitting a good serve, but it was a let, then another one, but it was somehow returned and he lost the game, the only time he lost serve in the match I believe. But then they managed to break back the very next game and win 7-5.
