First topic message reminder :

Morning all,

So after the win in Iowa for Ted Cruz last night where do we see this going?

I'm thinking Clinton v Rubio. Lots of twists and turns still to come though.

Moving on...

Ben Carson and Chris Christie have chucked their lot in with Trump......Plenty riding on the next few weeks for them....

Surprised at the Carson endorsement....After all Trump is supposed to be racist..

Christie is looking at the Attorney General slot I expect and Carson the Surgeon general slot.......They are obviously embarrassing themselves for some promise...

I think Carson has literally said he wanted to endorse someone else, but they didn't offer him anything. As for Christie; that is the most abusive political relationship I've ever seen. I think Trump might actually be running his campaign on Christie's lunch money at this point.

Exit polling in Florida....Big number of voters with college degrees have voted in the GOP election in Florida..

Bad sign for Trump......He does better with the lesser educated..

Could be an upset..

Donald Trump may have written about the art of the deal but he still hasn't sealed it yet...

Good night for him but Cruz came worryingly close in NC, Illinois... and Missouri are still unsure....

Big win in Florida countered by Ohio.........Kasich won easy..

If Cruz can pick up some of Rubio's support then it's game on.....How he'd love Kasich to leave the race too !!..

Brokered convention for sure..

Bad night for Bernie lost all the States but came painfully close to winning two....

He'll carry on but all is lost...If he was ever in the game..

With under 30s Bernie is running away with it.......Hillary take note when considering the VP slot !!

Trump takes Florida by a landslide.  Rubio quits.

Clinton also clears house.

Hilarious reading some of the guff on here from people who think they know anything about the States (still) and keep calling it hopelessly wrong.

Along with some of the other hilarity this is genuinely one of the funniest threads left on OT.

You called it..........How it went wrong for Rubio in his home state one can only summise.......Guess being a first term Senator the electorate probably felt he needed to earn the right to become the GOP nominee......Missing votes in the senate and Christie's bodyslam in the NH debate probably didn't help either..

Kasich wins Ohio, Trump wins Florida. It's jot a lock but now very much touch and go. Trying to look at map, I "think" Trump needs to run the table on the WTA states to get there.

Moving on to the 22nd we have Arizona (58 WTA) and Utah (40 Proportional, but WTA if winner has a majority). I think Cruz wins Utah (he does well in Mormon states or rather Trump doesnt) and I think Arizona goes Trump (anti immigration vote). But it's much easier to tactical vote now and I don't think Kasich is campaigning there. Cruz could sneak it. Remember Trump hasn't won a majority of votes in any state, not helped by the crowded field.

I see merit in backing Cruz in red states and Kasich in blue/purple states to lock Trump out. Either way if Trump locks it up it won't be to the June 7 primaries.

Is Donald Trump just politicking when he makes some of his more outlandish statements?  No one gave him a chance when he started out and now he is the leading "republican".  Some claim he is more liberal than republican and just throws out a few extreme seeming statements to persuade people he is more republican than democrat and to tap into the general disenchantment many have with Washington.  People that know him personally say he is a lot more liberal in his views, is generally a nice guy, that works hard and likes to sweet talk people onto his side.  Trump the showman.  I think he is going to have to soften his approach at some point.  Cruz is supposed to be more extreme than Trump, and Rubio in his bowing out speech talked about "gods plan".

Stalin was pretty good at getting unemployment down as well, brought in pre-natal care, industrialized many towns & cities and pushed through a lot of changes for equality of the sexes.
Just also butchered 43 million of his own people in the process but progress hey!

Interesting post....

Of course gay rights and abortion are huge issues in both Ireland and the US....Irish American is the second most common ancestry in the US.....(I'm third generation.....German is the most common ancestry)....The most concentrated Irish population is from Boston where I'm from...20%...New York is second....which is no surprise.....As most of the Irish settlers docked at New York.....

My Great Grandfather came over from Queenstown in 1880's because there was no work......We think it was on a boat called the Arizona....But he's no longer around to ask him  Cool .......Hearing stories about him I'm surprised he wasn't on the Titanic..

I've digressed...

You can't run for the GOP unless you're strictly anti-gay and anti abortion....I see Trump has come full circle now he's a republican..

Seven times more people with Irish heritage in the USA than in Ireland itself.....

Myself I happen to be pro gay rights and pro abortion.....

Forget your local councillor...When you have churches full of people trying to pray away the gay then you should start worrying.....

He is fairly hard headed but thats what is neded to take on the propagandists AKA the media. They're getting more desperate by the minute. The big news the other week was that David Duke told his followers to vote for Trump. Duke being a former KKK man (4 decades ago) got the media all excited because they could link Trump with the KKK. Its gone that bonkers!

Duke has responded with youtube video and said, even though he was all over the news, none of them asked him for an interview! You'd think they're all being controlled and have the same agenda. Wink

Not to make too fine a point of it but the issue was that Trump wouldn't denounce Duke's supporters OR the KKK and instead feigned ignorance.

Ah, the haters of free speech carry on.

Keep it up folks, Trump loves the attention! thumbsup

And whats wrong with that?

Which part? Not denouncing white supremacists or pretending you don't know who they are?

Since when is David Duke a white supremacist?

I don't know about Nick Griffin but Duke is not a white supremacist. You're being brainwashed by the media.

I don't know about David Duke, but Nick Griffin isn't a white supremacist. An extreme nationalist, yes, but not an advocate of white supremacy.

So it looks like one of three for the next US President.
Ted Cruz or Donald Trump
Hilary Clinton.

Since when is David Duke a white supremacist?

I wad actually talking about the KKK but a person who wants separatism and opened a branch of the KKK is generally a white supremacist.

No a person who wants separatism for whites is..... a white separatist.

Look up the definitions of supremacism and separatism. You'll find they're actually different words.

Oh well if he says he isn't then he mustn't be, case closed.
He refers to himself as a 'racial realist' (waiting for the day certain right wingers on here term themselves that), former Grand Wizard of the KKK, a felon who used donations to gamble with, thinks Jewish Supremists promote homosexuality, and is a holocaust denier amongst many other things.
I think his title should be 'Grade A Cockwomble'.
