Khan to fight Alvarez for "155lb title".

Erm....doesn't Canelo hold the 160lb title?
Khan is going to get absolutely SPLATTERED here. There is literally no way he can win. Canelo can take a dig so Khans gonna have zero chance of a KO and lets face it, Alvarez will hit him, hard.

I'm legitimately shocked. How has Khan arrived at this fight being winnable?

I don't see how Khan can beat a man that much bigger at that weight. But it's brilliant, makes Brook vs Jo Jo Dan's victim look utterly ridiculous.
Hearn and Brook totally mugged off as Khan is fighting the biggest name in the sport. I love it!

Full credit to Khan to take this I guess. But oh my goodness he is going to get pancaked so badly it's unreal!!! What a shocker, I literally did not see this coming in a million years... Khan has a big speed advantage but if Canelo hits him surely he gets Prescotted?

Yeah but if he makes it out of 3 rounds I think a lot of us will be surprised... I don't know if that's really mugging off Hearn! I don't see how this is winnable. Canelo is skilful and huge, Khan struggled with the pressure of Algieri and Peterson!!!!!

Bloody nora!!
Canelo is slow, flat footed and doesn't exert the pressure he should. He's the favourite but I don't think it's un-winnable for Khan.
What title is it for again......???!

Holy crap; thought this was a wind up at first, then seen it break on skysports!! Just wow! Full credit to Khan...and a huge two fingers to those who have declared him a mug for playing the waiting game for Mayweather/Pacman.....turns out Guiness were right!
Win win for me....huge pay day...massive underdog and the Brook fight is still there after because a loss to a man that much bigger will not do anything to his stock.

Khan to beat Alvarez for MW title. Calls out Mayweather who agrees to fight for MW title, makes him 6 weight world champ and end with 50 and 0.

Re: Khan to fight Alvarez for "155lb title".
If it's for the middleweight title, then I think we have a massive problem. Khan has fought 3 times at 147, after being a career light welter. The fact he could now be fighting for a title a full 13lbs above his natural weight class makes a mockery of it unless he comes in at the full 155lb limit.
How is Canelo allowed to continually do this though? His title is 160lbs. Not 156. Not 155. 160. WBC should be stripping him for refusing to fight at the full limit. By all means he can fk off back down to 154 but he's just stealing a title from someone at 160lbs that deserves it.

This could be the fight where Khan ends out cold on the canvas snoring.

It doesn't matter what Khan weighs unless he goes over the 160 limit. It only matters that Canelo should be fighting at 160 limit as it's the title.

Re: Khan to fight Alvarez for "155lb title".
Khan has speed which will no doubt be the deciding factor and also Khan moves better much better then Canelo and if you remember Mayweather mugged Canelo off all night with his movement so not un winnable.
The weight is an issue and Canelo can bang but only if Khan stands in front of him.
Never much liked Khan in the past and always derided his avoidance of the big names but this name trumps them all and I take it all back.

Hearn will call Khan a coward then put Joshua in with Audley Harrison
Then Khan signs to fight Klitschko.
Re: Khan to fight Alvarez for "155lb title".
I cant see anything else than a one sided battering Averez is far too big and powerful for a fragile fella like Khan, however fair play to Khan for stepping up and giving such a huge challenge a go. I have given him stick for avoiding punchers and trying to take the easy way to big pay days in this case however i must commend him for probably taking on the biggest challenge possible. As much as he irritates me i would love to see him shock the world and pull off the huge upset, wont happen though think it will be this fight and then Brook at Wembley before the curtain comes down on his career and he jibs off to Sky Sports to stand ringside next to his mate the international superstar.

IF he did win, according to Haz this would make Khan lineal, and therefore 'man', at MW.

I am sure Brook and Hearn are not too bothered, they will know once Canelo has giving him a pasting a big domestic fight with Brook will then be his best and pretty much only option for one last huge cheque.

In all honesty guys SHAME on ODLH.
This over GGG?????
Used to respect the guy 1 of those who carried boxing in the 90's through the millenium a real icon but he has tarnished boxing with this. This is a win win for Khan providing he does not get brutally pancaked and he can make a lot of doe and still face Brook, he could even increase his purse split with Brook depending on him giving a good account of himself and coming out in 1 piece.

7th May is also rumoured to be the date for Fury v Wlad rematch. Surely they'll move that and try milk two PPV events or would it be a double header?
Also the date for City vs Arsenal in the Premier League. Will be requesting a hall pass from the Mrs for that day.

The only problem is Canelo might give Khan a beating that finishes him, far too big for Khan.hogey wrote:I am sure Brook and Hearn are not too bothered, they will know once Canelo has giving him a pasting a big domestic fight with Brook will then be his best and pretty much only option for one last huge cheque.

And If Khan beats Canelo (which he won't) he'll probably command 90-10 of the fight purse

You think Eddie will care, he just wants to fill Wembley again and Khan wont get another chance to earn multi millions again. In truth though this fight is a bit of a poor show from Alverez to make a defence of his title against such over matched opposition, i cant say i blame him though its great news for his bank balance with very little risk.

Re: Khan to fight Alvarez for "155lb title".
Yeh the bigger picture is it does nothing for anyone else except Khan. Canelo has picked on a little guy as well as fighting once more at his self invented weight class....GGG is once again on the outside looking in not good for either his fans or his detractors who want him to prove himself...Brook has lost a big fight which means we're left with gimme defences until Hearn sees otherwise...
So great day for Khan....relatively poor one if your a fan of the sport and want it to sort it's problems out.

Re: Khan to fight Alvarez for "155lb title".
I think Eddie Hearn will be disappointed that one of his titlists' main rivals has chosen to go down a more lucrative route, leaving his boxer to fight in Sheffield arena against a nobody, yes.
Yes, that's true also Owen. I'm sick and tired of hearing that the world revolves around Matchrooms titlists and Hearn trying to justify his PPVs so I'm glad that Brook is being left in the cold.

What the hell?! I've just logged onto BBC to read the footy and this popped up!!! Absolutely and utterly gobsmacked. I mean, fair play, going from his current opponent list to then jump up another 10 lbs or so to fight Canelo who is a P4P talent (I think he is slightly over rated however).
I'm sorry, but if Khan wins this I'll be stunned. Surely Canelo will maul him?
Still can't believe this is on. It was so far under the radar.

I doubt this bothers Hearn or Brook knowing they can pick up the remains of what Alvarez leaves behind which won't be much. Aside from the money it's an odd fight.

I actually think Khan has half a chance on PTS - not sold on cement feet Alvarez - will take an almighty effort but not out of the question.

Re: Khan to fight Alvarez for "155lb title".
Not sure why it's two fingers to anyone. Reasoning:
Khan has taken a fight he can't win. He will get either pancaked or does a Haye vs Wlad impression and runs all night. Either way the world will look at him as all done and dusted as he wasn't near to competing.
it's going to be a massacre.
And Canelo is 4/11!!!!!!!!!! I've just let a bit of wee out.
Will be punting on this like a punting has never punted before!

Uncharacteristic of Khan to take such a gamble. I wonder what led him to do so.
Khan might have a speed advantage but that hasn't stopped him getting hit by slower guys in the past. Up 2 divisions, it's hard to see anything he lands being that troublesome for Alvarez. When the latter lands however...

Yeah my Khan hating eh. Because I've said he gets pancaked? Yeah fair enough for him taking a fight he can't and won't win, but I dont exactly think another loss all whilst getting smashed was the wisest career move.

I don't think they have any intention of fighting each other - Khan cant be this stupid.

Canelo will take on GGG next I reckon. In September Mexican Independance day or whatever it is, he's not a ducker in my view, Trout and Lara showed that I thought. His team seriously didn't want him taking on Lara, as it made no financial sense and was extremely dangerous. GGG is dangerous but does make financial sense.
