Khan to fight Alvarez for "155lb title".

Erm....doesn't Canelo hold the 160lb title?
Khan is going to get absolutely SPLATTERED here. There is literally no way he can win. Canelo can take a dig so Khans gonna have zero chance of a KO and lets face it, Alvarez will hit him, hard.

Judah hardly wears stone boots and gloves and Khan boxed his head off. The same can be said of Alexander.

So khans 2 best career performances were against fleet footed fighters and his worst where against flat footed guys like Maidana, Diaz and Diaz and a counter puncher in Garcia.......

Didnt say Garcia was said he was a counter puncher
Yes I would say Maidana is flat footed annd just walks in straight lines easy to cut off
Canelo may not have done much to Floyd but the second half of the lara fight he brought the fight and managed to close Lara down and Lara is much much slicker than Khan

Yes and Maidana managed to impose himself on Mayweather to far greater effect than Alvarez for a guy who is flat footed and easy to cut off. In fact there havent been many fighters at all since Mayweather moved to welter and beyond that have been so inept at managing to impose themselves on him.

Walk before you can run, Khan hasn't even established himself as a top welterweight, but is moving up to fight a big light middleweight who's only defeat is to the PFP No 1.
We can all talk of Canelo's flaws, but losing once in 48 fights, means he's a little bit more than a predictable flat footed come forward plodder.
Canelo isn't no Hagler, but Khan isn't no Sugar Ray Leonard either.

This will be the biggest fight of 2016, I expect it to smash manny v Bradley. I respect Khan for it, I see him getting knocked out, potentially retiring. I can see the hypothetical Khan outside speed game, but just don't see him doing 12.
Khan doesn't have the power to trouble Canelo, I don't even think he has the power to keep Canelo honest. Floyd had the lead overhand right, that was just enough to keep Canelo from setting his feet long enough to get off. Khan doesn't have that weapon.
Imagine if Khan won, GGG vs Khan in September, NATO should intervene to prevent a massacre.

Don't be so melodramatic - i'm sure GGG will come out of it relatively unscathed
Re: Khan to fight Alvarez for "155lb title".
I agree with Coxy. If Canelo lands a shot similar to García's or Precotts then I'd be very worried for Khan's future health. He couldn't take a shot at lightweight so he's in deep trouble if he gets caught here.
Im thinking he'll be having a lie down by around the 8th. He's quick enough to make it to points but with the extra weight will his stamina be affected?
However much you think Khan hasn't earned this or have it in for him because you live Hearn and Brook, this fight is intriguing and will be huge by May.

Nagh the robbery against McCloskey where it was stopped for nothing? There was a scrape on his head and the referee deemed this to be too bad to continue.
It was a joke fight during that really dodgy period in Khans career where he was getting all sorts of easy title fights and strange wins for no reason.
Almost like they wanted him to do well to sell him in America or something, is was all weird stuff.
Anyway on with the tunnel visioned and rose tinted view of his past.......
Your pathetic jingoism knows no end......

Re: Khan to fight Alvarez for "155lb title".
If Khan pulled this off and somehow got a win, would this eclipse Hatton/Tsuzu and Fury/Wlad?
To me this would be miles ahead of anything a Brit has achieved, certainly in recent memory.
Career wise there os no beating Froch, for me anyway. But pulling off an upset against the odds then I think this would take some beating.

Re: Khan to fight Alvarez for "155lb title".
Whilst I'm not surprised that Khan is getting respect for taking this fight, I'm equally surprised that we're not deriding Canelo for it. If Fury decided to make his first defense of the HW title against a blown up LHW, who hadn't even won the CW title- say Tony Bellows, he would rightly be massively criticised. Can't see that this much different.

What I would like to know is how the WBC can sanction the fight, when Khan hasn't had a fight at Light middle or Middleweight and doesn't even hold a world title at any weight, it stinks.

Re: Khan to fight Alvarez for "155lb title".
WBC loves mexicans and IBF loves americans - The only reason Wlad hadn't been stripped was because he fought and dominated his Mandatories. Look at what the ibf just did to fury then the slack given to the lucky sod now. It's disgusting and shamelessly corrupt.

Wait...wait I know the answer to this..because boxing is as corrupt as it comes...up there with FIFA and the IOC...the only difference being boxing doesn't even attempt to hide it anymoreo

Yep a big brown envelope and you can have any fight you want.owen10ozzy wrote:Nico the gman wrote:What I would like to know is how the WBC can sanction the fight, when Khan hasn't had a fight at Light middle or Middleweight and doesn't even hold a world title at any weight, it stinks.

This is a 'see it to believe it' scenario. Until they're both in the ring together this has to be taken as a stunt.

It's definitely out of left field especially in these days when hardly anything in boxing is a secret and Khan can't stopping tweeting about his watches and cars (or sending pictures of his c*ck to models)dangerous_mouse wrote:This is a 'see it to believe it' scenario. That didn't work out too well. But then again that's why you never see a poor bookie or a rich betting person. Thankfully my boxing bets work out more often than not. Lest you forget you're talking about the 606 predictor champ here bud
I'm sticking with Alvarez by stoppage, 1/2 is a great price as that's the only way I see it going. Khan may well win rounds but at some point Alvarez is going to time him as Khan aint exactly FMJ when it comes to feints, making people miss and getting off his own shots etc.

Re: Khan to fight Alvarez for "155lb title".
I've come up with a 5 point plan Truss-style to help with who I think wins (taking in to account weight class):
Speed:
Khan 9 (TBC as he could be slow as an old dog at MW)
Canelo 7
Power:
Khan 1
Canelo 8
Chin:
Khan 1
Canelo 10
Brain:
Khan 1
Canelo 8
Crowd support:
Khan 2
Canelo 10
Out of 50: Khan 14, Canelo 43.

Depends how you do it, I guess. My mate makes £200-300 a weekend, given it's tax free it pretty much doubles his take home pay pa!

Re: Khan to fight Alvarez for "155lb title".
Interestingly I did an experiment last summer of depositing £10 and then backing 1 odds on favourite at no better than 1/10. Then take the £11 and do the same etc etc. Got to £200 without any real dramas but just takes a little while

I will give Khan great credit. But if Canelo doesn't win by ko, then miracles do exist. Khan will look good for a few rounds, but Canelo will slow him down. To be fair one big dig from Canelo might be all it takes.
Khan can't take big shots (Maidana fight aside. He did have Ariza then)

People always say "Maidana fight aside" - but he didn't take them punches either, he clung on.
